    Spray foam insulation

    Requested 3 1/4inches of foam to equal R 20. Many areas did not exceed 1 1/2 inches and there was overspray on adjacent drywall. Customer representative visited and made no comment. Within 3 hrs their office called for payment. Unsatisfactory work and resolution!

    Insulate a Basement and Attic

    Just wanted to share some numbers with you. Before Insta-Insulation our Natural Gas ussage was approximately 17cm3/18cm3. After Insta-Insulation came in and Spray Foamed our basement and our Attic (They also added some blowen in insulation in the Attic as well). Our Natural Gas ussage went down to 7cm3. We compared the same month, 1yr apart. We also compared the average temp and it was a colder winter then the previous year. That's more then half the ussage !!! If you like to save money, have Insta-Insulation come by your house. Highly Recomended !!!!! 100% on all points.

    Attic Insulation and Basement Spray Foam Insulation

    I had two projects in mind. The attic needed insulation The basement need insulation and vapour barrier Attic: I chose Insta-Insulation mainly because of the Mike Holmes TV series and investigating other products on my own. I had the attic insulated first. They cleared all soffit vents where needed and added additional baffles to give more insulation. One exhaust vent (from the bathroom) needed to be replaced as well. I had Blown Cellulose insulation put in the attic to achieve an R-50 rating. The installers put air seals on the attic hatch door to prevent air leakage. The job was completed professionally, quickly and neatly. I noticed quite a difference when we had some hot summer days. Our bedroom didn’t heat up like it did before. I would expect winter months will also be improved because of the insulation. The site was left clean and the installers were easy to deal with. Basement: I decided to finished the basement of our newly acquired home. The basement was previously finished but every thing was wrong (poor electrical, poor plumbing, poor and leaking insulation, poor and leaking vapour barrier. etc.). The ductwork seamed to be in all the wrong places, making it impossible to insulate properly and to provide a vapour barrier in the bulk head area (floor joists). The only way to properly insulate the basement and provide a continuous vapour barrier was to spray foam the walls. The basement wasn’t wet but was always damp. There were no visible leaks in the floor or walls. I discussed how I should frame the basement to get the best spray foam coverage and effectiveness. The sales rep was quite helpful. The project also included the cold cellar area that was also damp and was never used. I hired Insta-insulation and the crew completed the basement in a professional and clean manner. With the foam in place, the first thing I noticed was lack of dampness. Also there were no drafts from the floor joist areas. The vapour barrier is continuous from floor to ceiling. This is very difficult to achieve with any other method of insulating. The basement no longer smelled like a damp musty room. Thanks to professional staff that cares for their clients I now have a comfortable home. Harold Potten

    Insulate Two Attics In A Split-Level House

    I contacted Insta-Insulation initially because they are the official insulation contractor for Mike Holmes of Holmes Inspection. I’m so glad I did. First I met Trevor, who gave me a quote to insulate my two attics. He answered all my questions, including questions I didn’t know enough to ask. It was an extremely hot day when the installers were here and I couldn't have asked for a better team. They were very polite, knowledgeable and professional. They let me know everything they were doing ahead of time. When Pat-The-Cat came out of hiding to check on things, the guys were very good with him/her. (None of them had seen an animal that is both male and female before.) Everyone I met from Insta-Insulation was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. I have since recommended them to two other homeowners. And now, I am able to turn down my air conditioner temperature by 2 degrees.

    Insulation in Garage Ceiling

    Great advice was received on how to address a cold master bedroom above the garage, including what not to do. They took the time to explain why they were making the recommendations. The workcrew was punctual and efficient in completing the job and everyone I spoke to was friendly and hepful. I am very satisfied and I would use them again. I look forward to a warmer bedroom next winter!

    Attic Top-Up

    My wife and I purchased a 15 year old house in Fall '14 and we were dismayed to discover that the home inspector had 'okayed' the attic insulation (R20). Once winter hit, our top floor was quite cold. I contacted Insta Insulation in late December and they were able to come in early January to top up the attic insulation to R60. The crew was prompt, efficient and cleaned up after themselves. Our home was nice and warm over the past winter. I think that I could have paid a bit less if I had taken a chance with a smaller company, but I don't know if the risk would be worth saving a few hundred dollars. Cellulose insulation is messy stuff and shoddy installers could really mess up your house. All in all I'd recommend Insta Insulation.....just make sure to call them before they get too busy in the Fall!

    Spray Foam Insullation

    We had the crawl space under a back addition insulated by Insta Insulation a few years ago. We have recently discovered that the beams that were insulated are rotting through. This damage should have been noticed by the installers and brought to our attention. Now we have to take out the insulation, repair the beams and do the insulation all over again. What a waste of $900. I expected better.

    Hello Laura, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. ‎Although this review is not favorable to us, any review can be positive if you take the opportunity to examine and learn from the situation. ‎Since the review was posted we have had dialogue with you to better understand what transpired with your crawlspace and what led you to your decision to choose to use Homestars as the first point of contact to communicate with us about the current problem you are experiencing. The big picture seems much clearer now that we have sent someone out to investigate. Upon further review, there is evidence of water leakage from the upper wall system into the crawlspace. It is highly likely that the leak was not evident in the crawlspace area at the time we assessed the job and completed the spray foam work more than four years ago. It is quite unfortunate that despite the fact that we have not received a complaint about occupant discomfort or dissatisfaction with the work performed in the space for almost 5 years, that our judgement, and recommendation for spraying the area that we did, is suddenly under scrutiny upon discovery of a problem that has come to light at the onset of a project by another contractor (who does not happen to be a qualified insulation professional). All things considered, the fact remains that the existing leak would have caused the joist ends to rot regardless of whether the crawlspace floor OR walls were sprayed. Had the wall not leaked, there would have been no cause for rot, and this unpleasant situation, for all involved, would never have occurred. Laura, Insta-Insulation takes great pride in our reputation as a company that is approachable and stands behind the products and services we deliver. Had you and your landscape contractor opted to be up front with us and give us a call to discuss the problem you discovered, we would have gladly worked with you to alleviate some of the financial burden of your current circumstances. At this point, after what we believe to be a thorough investigation of this situation, we are of the opinion that you have made a conscious decision to inappropriately use Homestars for your personal gain. Because of this, we choose to accept your zero rating and stand behind our position that there was no rot evident on the interior of your crawlspace when we performed your insulation project; our work did not cause the rot; and we delivered on the agreed upon scope of work for the price outlined in your estimate, as promised. It is disappointing to us to have to make the decision to discuss this matter on such a public forum; a simple phone call would have been appreciated prior the decision to point the finger on this communication channel, and rendered this response unnecessary. A win/win outcome would have almost certainly been the result. In closing, we wish you the best with your remediation efforts and will look forward to serving customers who value that problem resolution begins with a simple conversation.     Attice insulation

    They responded to my inquiry immediately and Brandon came over for the estimate. He was meticulous and explained everything carefully. His team came on time and finished earlier than the promised time and cleaned up afterwards. A service company needs to be reliable (answer calls ASAP, come on time, finish early or on time, be courteous) and these guys get top marks. Thanks for the great service.

    Attic Insulation

    The staff at Insta-Insulation did a great job removing the old insulation and blowing in new insulation into our attic. The quoting, scheduling and work was all well done and without any glitches. Great job!
