    Major roof reworking

We contacted a few companies to get quotes, but none would do the work that we needed done , except for Keating. Ours was not just a reshingling job, but involved extending our roof to add overhangs so that we could get proper circulation in our attic. It was stiflingly hot in the summer, enough so, that you could feel the heat coming down from the ceiling inside the house. Besides the overhangs, we also wanted a porch roof, as we had none, as well as the two chimney stacks removed( they weren't being used ) down to the roofline. Matt came over and went over what we wanted as well as costs and when payments were due, with the bulk of the cost being payed near the end, when the work was done. When the guys came over to start the work, they didn't fool around. The bulk of it was done within a week. We did have to wait for certain finishes to arrive, but that was to be expected and we were told as much. We even had a particular style we were going for on our porch that didn't quite turn out the way we wanted and they redid it to our specifications. We found them very professional and pleasing to work with and they provided a wide range of services that the other roofing companies did not. We would definitely recommend them to any friends or family that needed their service and would call on them again if needed.

Roof, Windows & Minor Masonry Work

I chose Keating based on the positive reviews on the Homestars website, an in-person meeting and based on the fact that they bill themselves as a one-stop shop for exterior work -- including windows, doors and masonry. My experience with the company, however, was quite mixed. As with others, I got a detailed proposal for the roof work. This seemed impressive. However, there was virtually nothing in it about other components of the project -- new windows throughout, a storm door, repairs to the top of a deteriorating brick fire wall. At the moment, I didn't think that much of it. However, this was a mistake. That said, the night we met to review the proposal, we mentioned two additional deliverables that we hadn't mentioned earlier -- work associated with framing the interior of the bathroom window and creating an access point to the house's attic. Matt said something vague about how doing both of these things wouldn't be a problem. But we never got an updated proposal with updated costing. The absence of this, combined with a lack of detail on the non-roofing elements of the project ended up really negatively affecting my experience with Keating. The roofing and masonry components of the project went quickly and smoothly. The crew did the job very quickly and well. They left the site very clean. However Matt didn't add the attic access request to the docket and so this wasn't completed. Then the window replacement came. It took A MONTH AND A HALF for this part of the job to get done -- way longer than most professional window installation companies would take. About a month into the work, I contacted Matt about the completion of the project -- which comprised of finishing the interior trims and sills damaged by removing the old windows, re-installing the storm door they put in (which was too short for the opening) and the interior bathroom window framing. He insisted that we meet during office hours at my home (which took me away from work). I then had a conversation with him where he said he'd have the interior trims & sills done the next day but would require someone to be on-site (again, another day for me away from the office). He also gave vague answers on the timeline for the bathroom framing work, adjusting the door so it fit properly and the attic access issue. His excuse? "We just don't get the same volumes for this type of work as we do for the roofs." That's unacceptable! Why couldn't they have managed my expectations on timelines at the outset? It's also around this time that I am having other contractors quoting me on a separate brick restoration project. Matt somehow finds out (perhaps because one of the contractors shows up while the Keating guys are on site) and tries to pitch Keating for the contract -- a bit obnoxious & amatuerish given the excuses I've endured already. Regardless, the following day I stay home from work and the worker who was to do the interior trims & sills NEVER SHOWS UP! I email Matt at about 1pm and he tells me to call the Keating office. I was livid that he was expecting me to do this. The point of going with a company that offered a full range of services was to avoid the air-traffic control of project management. It turns out that this worker was double booked. Finally, this leads me to write an email to the principals at Keating -- John, Justin -- airing my deep disappointment. From here on in, I deal with John. I like John a lot better as the project point person -- he is direct and forthright in his communications (no BS Dale Carnegie crap). Part of this is telling me that if I want attic access this will cost $1200 more and the bathroom window will cost another $846, plus tax. I decline the attic access and eat the cost of the bathroom window, which they actually do a very good job on. However, the job only completes about three weeks later. So in the end the most of the projects were done, and what was done was done well, but I had to nag, I had to compromise my expectations, I had to do A LOT of waiting and I had to pay more than I was quoted. Was this a good experience? Not really.

    Roof System Excellence

Keating delivered top notch service from day 1 Matt reviewing the scope of work with options to finished roof.Definitely gave comfort understanding my costs and benefits of their superior roof system technologies. The age of the home required some additional venting due to no soffit vents which Matt highlighted and creatively added enhancing the the performance of the roof and benefiting the interior house temperature. They added a beautiful skylight seamlessly which transformed the interior of the house and gave ventilation and needed light. The workmanship was excellent top notch and right on schedule. The followup by the owner verified the workmanship and my satisfaction. I highly recommend Keating to deliver the best Roofing systems solutions.

Flat and diagonal roof replacement, with upper deck removal and replacement

My wife and I had been renovating our home for a couple of months before engaging Keating Roofing to re-shingle one of our diagonal roofs, completely replace a large flat roof area, and disassemble and then reassemble a large wooden upper deck in order to access the flat roof. After 11 years of a slow, inconsistent leak from the area (which fortunately dripped into a shower stall!), and having dealt with literally at least a dozen roofers over the past decade who had different theories and about the root cause of the leak and loads of creative ideas about how to fix the leak, not one could actually fix the problem! Many suggested removing the deck, but none presented the option of disassembling it, storing it on our upper roof while the roof repair was conducted, and then reassembling the perfectly good wood... none expect for Keating that is. Enter John Keating, President of Keating Roofing, son of the company's founder. Professional, articulate, reliable, and with a crew that went way beyond our expectations, especially after our recent slew of negative experiences that we had with a number of reputedly "professional" contractors, we could not be happier with our Keating experience. The quote package was phenomenal, and personalized down to the finite detail, including a colour photo of our photo on the front of the 10+ page document. John's team showed up early every day, were courteous and efficient, CLEANED UP every day, and did a job that appears to be second to none. My wife and I are now Keating advocates, and will be lifelong customers. There will be only one roofing and exteriors company we will turn to and recommend in the years to come. THANK YOU Keating for restoring our faith in truly professional contractors. >>:-)

Good work, good pricing, good support

My home in Toronto is over a hundred years old, and has seen many homeowner-done "improvements". When my roof began to leak, I contacted a number of companies, but Keating provided, by far, the most reasonable and well thought-out estimate. They did an excellent job, removing the six (yes, six!) previous layers of shingles from my roof, and replaced them with a new shingled roof. After, there was a minor bit of follow up, and Keating responded in a timely way, supporting the work they'd done without charging me extra.

    New Roof

To anyone looking for a new roof, look no further than Keating Roofing. We just had Keating install a new "CertainTeed Integrity Roof System" including shingles, additional vents, and flashing. These folks are professionals and we were impressed with their performance from start to finish. Our first contact was with their sales rep Vlad Blazanin who provided us with an extremely detailed "Roofing Proposal". Far superior to your standard estimate, this specified exactly what they would do every step of the way. The final price was determined by our choice of shingles. Keating has three crews, all Keating employees - no subcontractors. Ryan was the crew chief on our job and they were terrific. Each day plywood and tarps were put down to protect property, shrubs, windows etc. and at the end of each day, everything was removed and the area completely cleaned up. Ryan and his men arrived promptly at 8:00 am and worked straight through. They did not rush any aspect of the job but instead, worked carefully to ensure each part of the installation was done properly. Seeing them take such care was a pleasure to watch. The finishing touch was the installation of flashing and Matt did a superb job. As with everything else, his was quality work with careful attention to detail. The new roof looks amazing! A new roof is an expensive proposition to be sure, but the peace of mind that comes with a job done to perfection is priceless. We would absolutely recommend Keating without reservation. Roofing, Siding, Carpentry

If you are looking to get exterior work done, look no further and call Keating. We had received 3 quotes to get our roof, siding and eaves done, and Keating was the one. They are professional, detailed oriented and reasonable in their pricing. Matt provided a detailed work proposal and once Justin and Steve began their work, all their guys were friendly, easy –going and experts in their field. As the day progressed, the work improved our 65 year old house to a more modern, contemporary feel. We initially called to have our roof shingled, new eaves and front siding (tongue and groove) done, however once the work started it encouraged us to continue to have our front porch roof redone from flat to an apex, a new roof ( 17' long) added to the side entrance and added an apron over the front window. The carpentry work was superb and John's guidance was right on. The suggestion of adding outdoor lighting, was the icing on the cake. They were very accommodating to our changes – call Keating – you will be happy you did!

New roof (re-shingled), new eaves and fascia.

Very reliable, experienced, trustworthy company that uses great products. We are happy with their work, friendly, professional staff, and rates in line with competitors. They know roofing better than the other companies we spoke with and de-bunked the competitors proposals. They also offer a free annual inspection of their work (i.e., climb onto your roof to inspect for damage)!
