    Sealy Posturepedic Mattress

    My husband and I were looking to buy a new mattress. Our neighbor recommended GH Johnson. The sales person Michelle was knowledgeable and patient with our many questions. Due to her expertise we decided on a top of the line Sealy Posturepedic mattress set. At half the price of one of the major sleep shops we were ecstatic. The delivery men were punctual and incredibly helpful. The furniture had to be moved around for us to make room. They moved everything back into place and disposed of the old mattress set too. We made this purchase on a Thursday on the following Monday we were sleeping on it. Thanks to Michelle and the drivers at GH Johnson

    Mirrors (2)

    We purchased 2 mirrors at the beginning of August 2009 and were told 2-3 weeks for arrival and we could pick them up at the store. After that time passed we called to inquire repeatedly but have never received a callback, at this point it's about 6-7 calls without a callback. The issue isn't even the time at this point it's the fact that they behave like cowards and don't return calls. If someone were to say I'm sorry and give me an honest answer as to when the product will arrive that would be fine but to simply not call customers back is unacceptable. I have now read many reviews similar in nature and to me regardless of price I won't be buying from them again as I simply don't trust them. I feel lucky that I'm only ordering mirrors (which hopefully they can't screw up) as they seem to make many errors in furniture delivery judging from other reviewers and if I had to deal with their customer service to get an order fixed I think I'd go nuts. Save yourself the hassle and time and go somewhere else that will treat you with respect.

    Towel Sets

    While shopping for towels, my daughter reminded me of GH Johnson. I was a prior shopper, with a great experience. We were on a budget, and purchased a dozen towel sets, as well as as beautiful armoire for my daughter, all at half the market price. Considering the sales going on in other stores, the prices are unbelievable. The sales person was quick and courteous. The quality is excellent. Both my daughter and I recommend shopping at GH Johnson.

    Dining Room Furniture

    I'm writing this review as a thank you to Pat and his staff. I had my heart set on, THE GRANDEUR dining room set by HOOKER FURNITURE. I shopped around for months and found Johnsons to have the best deal, I also read the reviews on this site and was concerned. However, I took the advice of a friend of mine who had had a positive experience with GH JOHNSONS, and ordered my dining room furniture. I dealt with Pat, Jennifer, Mirella and Helena, and had my phone calls returned immediately, my furniture arrived when it was said to arrive, and most importantly the DELIVERY GUYS WERE AMAZING! Joe and Vlady set up the furniture without a problem. My floors, walls or ceiling were not damaged in any way. The hutch and credenza were set up in a very tight space and everything was done without a problem. I guess my advice to future customers would be to realize that with any furniture involving transport from other counties, you may wait 10 to 12 weeks. Like I said, I shopped around and was told time and time again that there would be a waiting period that the store was not responsible for. I'm sorry to hear about the negative experiences that others have had, but I also feel that my positive experience needed to be included here as well.

    Purchase of Bedroom Furniture

    I ordered a new bedroom set; I was called the day before -- not a few days before as promised -- to confirm delivery and of course a request payment for the full balance owing-- I CLEARLY asked to ensure all pieces were going to be deliverd and was reassured they were. My delivery time was schedueled from 10-12 the next day. Only to have the delivery show up at 2:30-and of course not even so much as a phone call to tell me it was going to be late. I was immediately advised by the delivery man that one piece was misssing! How ironic since less than 24 hours earlier I was ASSURED all pieces were being delivered. That was over 2 weeks ago -- to this DAY i have yet to receive a call from Shawn or Mark -- after leaving NUMEROUS messages about my piece. The one message I received back was "to sit tight and I would hear back from them". Seriously??? Sit tight?? How very professional. We have even tried getting the sales person invlolved -- and she to has been no help whatsoever .... You may save some $$$ but the grief and aggrivation is certainly NOT worth any $$ you will save. The latest is i have called and advised them I want to RETURN the piece -- and GUESS what --- STILL NO CALL BACK!!! AMAZING!!!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ... you will be happier you did!

    Purchased a Mattress

    I bought a mattress from this place a few years ago, and I am glad to see them here so I can share my poor experience with others. The Matress was a serta double size and the price was close to $1,000, the salesman was nice at the time of sale, but when the Mattress was delivered we realized the box would not make it in. Since my basement at the time was built akward, the deliver man suggested he would take it back, and for me to go speak to the store manager about a refund on the springbox. Next day when I went into the store to explained the problem and decided to keep only the matress for now, the salesman cameback with the famous line "there will be a $90 re-stocking fee" I could not believe my ears, since I was not returning the box on purpose. I did not make a problem not to embarrased myself, so I took a small portion of my money back which it worked out to nearly $180 and left, but I promised myself never again I would give these people business. Too bad for them I just bought $25,000 worth of furniture from another wearhouse, for that basement which is no longer akward

    have bought various pieces there

    I certainly haven't found cheaper prices elsewhere, they will beat any price of the same product you find elsewhere, however expect anything you order from there to take 2-4 months to arrive even if they tell you, "you should have it in a few weeks". They do not return calls. In order words, if you are not in a hurry for your stuff and want a great price they are your place. If your stuff is being delivered, expect it not to come the day they tell you. OK for me since I don't work. Jennifer (salesperson) is great to deal with, has a design background and can provide educated suggestions.

    Bed

    GH Johnson has been on our radar for awhile now as we continue to shop for items for our home. Their location is relatively poor for us as we dont live in the Annex but we still made the trek as we found a four poster canopy bed on their online store. First, we emailed them to check on the price & availability of the bed and eventually received a response that gave us the pricing and announced that the bed was not only in the showroom, but in stock for "Quick-Ship" YEE HAW. We rushed down to the store the next day and looked at the bed. If you have never been to the store, it is essentially a converted warehouse that looks like a bomb went off. When we were there during the week, there were lots of people scurrying about but no one interested in helping us. I have actually been to the store before and had the exact same experience - everyone walking around, on the phone, moving stuff, just generally busy and not interested in making a sale. Finally a random person approached us and identified herself as working at the store (nobody there wears anything that tells you they work there so you have to guess). Despite the salesperson not knowing much about the bed and having to go online to verify some features about the bed that we explained to her - we bought the bed. Negotitating price is similar to when you buy a car - they take your offer to "The Manager" and then the sales person comes back with a counter offer - fine, we did all that. There is a sign on the wall advising of the next delivery date which we chose and the sales rep said - "Oh choose after 5 PM delivery so you dont have to wait around all day" We did this and left satisfied. One thing to note, most furniture store sells similar stuff nowadays - whether it is The Brick, Leons, DeBoers, Idomo, or those fly-by-night places on Kennedy Rd. - essentially everything is made from "Veneer solids" or "laminates" etc. and come from China. There is solid wood furniture available and stores that sell them, but just because you are going to a 'higher end store' don't automatically assume the quality is better - one store that does sell solid wood is Amish Furniture Outlets. Well delivery day arrives and I leave work early to make sure I am there before 5 PM to take apart the old bed and make room for the new one. I dont do anything more than 10 feet from the door or make any noise so as not to miss the delivery. By 9 PM I think that we must be the last delivery on the route. At 9:40 PM I call the store to see whats going on. Strangely, a security guard answeres the phone and doesnt know anything except "all the delivery trucks are back in for the night" GREAT! NO BED TO SLEEP ON WITH A WIFE WHO IS OVER 8 MONTHS PREGNANT! NO CALL OR ANYTHING FROM THE STORE - LOVELY. I am expecting to call tomorrow (of course I will have to call them) and get a "our delivery truck came by and you weren't home" excuse (which is absolutely not true) or something else lame - point is, you never called me to tell me anything and I have wasted the whole night sitting around waiting. As it stands now, I am telling people to stay away from GH JOHNSON and shop elsewhere. I noticed other negative reviews and a response to one of them from Pat Johnson with his cell phone number - great, but I am not going to call the guy and 10:30 PM at night when he cannot do anything for me right now and why do I need to escalate a very simple delivery to one of the owners???

    Living Room Furntre. ( Couch & Chair )

    4 of my best friends have all used GH Johnson and were thrilled with their experience, so naturally when it came time for me to buy a new sectional , GH is where I went . Like any major purchase I did my research and checked competitor's prices ..during said research it lead me here to this site , and I was quite taken aback after reading some of the reviews. But if you can't trust your best friends then who can you trust ?! LOL ! So my husband & I took the plunge . We were greeted by a very freindly , extremly knowledgable Sales Manager named Kennedy. He was fabulous ! Giving us great advice and taking his time to ensure that we saw every possible solution to our Sofa needs and when he could not provide us with a chair that we fell inlove with in the " as is " section , he came up with a brilliant alternative and made sure that it matched our sofa perfectly . Kennedy displayed endless patience in answering all of our questions , even all the times that I called back with one inquiry or another . When our sofa came , we unfortunatly were not home so my General Contractor had instructed them to leave everything in the front hallway ...NOT assembeled and WITH the wrapping still on . Not a problem for GH Johnson , one phone call and Matt Johnson had his people come back immediately and unwrap, move the couch and put it together . YOU can NOT beat GH Johnson for their price's ...and they lack NOTHING when it comes to Customer Service . Our delivery was on time and there were no problems at all and as far as the quality is concerned ...well lets just say that my husbands favourite room in the house is no longer " The man's den " , its the living room where all the new GH Johnson furniture is !!!

    Bedroom furniture

    Was a little weary about this company based on some of the reviews, but decided to check it out in person. Salesperson was nice and honest about everything. I ended up buying a good quality armoire and dresser for a great price. Delivery was running late based on the scheduled time and I had to call them to ask where my furniture was. They put me on hold and told me they spoke to the driver who was running late and they would arrive within an hour. They took a little more than that. Despite this minor setback, delivery guys were great, hauling some heavy furniture upstairs. There was damage to the corner of the dresser, but they sent someone out within a few days to fix it and it looks brand new. Great experience and would buy from them again.
