    Sofa

    I bought a sofa from GHJ for my new home. I told the sales staff that I needed delivery in 2-3 weeks and if I could just buy the floor model. The store manager in charge at the time told me since it is made in Toronto, I could have it in time before xMas. 3 weeks after I made several calls and was told that it would arrive at their warehouse soon. After one email, several calls, and 2 store visits later, I got the sofa delivered 2 weeks after. Overall, I would say my experience was probably better than most other folks here. But here're my observations for others: - The furniture at GHJ are very nice and the pricing is very reasonable - Do not buy with a delivery deadline in mind. Give yourself lots of buffer - Other furniture places are probably the same - no better or worse - Ask for the origin of the sofa. If it is Canada or the US, your chances of receiving it timely are higher than say if it comes from the Far East - I think GHJ could probably have a better system in updating their clients with respect to the ETAs. If they put some focus in that area, then they would be head and above other furniture retailers

    New Living room /Dining Room

    We went to Johnson's looking for some new furniture for a room that was to be a living room/dining room split. We were a bit worried about getting sofas, coffee tables, chairs, hutches etc to ALL to be complimentary... But when we walked into Johnson's and saw how big the show room was, our fears eased a little. On top of the sheer size of the place, almost everything there, except for the floor models for purchase, was customizable. I was able to pick everything to my liking, and even got them to stain one of the coffee tables to match the rest of what I got. Everything was just lovely, it came in over about 7 weeks, but they held onto all of it for us until we could recieve it all at once, so we only had to take one day off. We'll definitely be returning in the future.

    Crib and Chairs

    I have been a customer of Johnson's for over 10 years, and I will continue to be a dedicated customer for many more! My most recent purchases included all of the furniture for my daughter's nursery. The high-quality, Canadian made pieces were delivered to my home within 4 weeks of the purchase date and all interactions with the Johnson's staff were efficient and enjoyable throughout. The sales person was extremely helpful; he listened carefully to my wish list and was able to narrow down the many options of styles and finishes to those that matched my taste perfectly. The delivery staff were so kind and exceptionally gentle as they moved the large pieces to the second floor of my home. I have purchased several items from Johnson's and have been pleased with all of them. Included in those purchases was a custom made head board, which I absolutely love (it looks like it belongs in the pages of a magazine!) For the competitive prices, the diverse and massive selection, and the helpful and knowledgeble staff, I will continue to consider Johnson's the best place to buy furniture in the GTA!

    Sofa, Sectional Sofa, 2 Living Room chairs

    After a pretty good experience during our purchase, things went downhill after we reached the 3 month period of not having received our furniture. On November 11, my Rowe Mini Sofa arrived along with the Monaco Sectional Sofa. The sectional sofa was too large for the basement stairwell entry. The delivery men took the sofa back to the warehouse. I received a phone call the next day from Mark Johnson to arrange a date for the upholsterer to disassemble and reassemble the sofa. On November 16th, the upholsterers arrived with no sofa. My husband had taken the afternoon off (with no pay) for this appointment. They had to go back to the warehouse and returned two hours later. After spending two hours assembling the sofa, they informed us that the longer section of the sofa was the wrong piece. We were extremely disappointed after waiting 3 months for this furniture to find out that a mistake had been made. However, I tried to be very patient and waited for someone to call. After a week of trying to get Mark on the phone after he left one message, I had to go into the store to find out what the situation was. This happened on November 25th 2008. Then, we moved on to discuss the 2 Brentwood chairs, which after 13 weeks, were not ready. I was informed that Brentwood is actually located in Toronto, which I found very frustrating since 13 weeks for two chairs from a company in Toronto is a ridiculous amount of time to wait. Again, the delay was the fault of the salesperson's incompetence. I found out that one of the chairs would be delivered on the next Tuesday, December 2nd. On December 5th, the first Brentwood chair was delivered to me. I received a phone call that the second chair was going to arrive on December 12th and that I would receive an immediate phone call and have it delivered right away. On December 12th, I received no phone call. On December 15th, I had to phone to check on the arrival of this chair. Mark told me that the chair was in and would be delivered on Tuesday December 16th between 6pm-8pm. At 6:30pm that evening, I received a phone call from the delivery guy that he could not find the chair in the warehouse and that someone would phone me the next morning to give me an update. I had arranged to be home for the delivery, missing an important school function, as a result. At this point, my patience has reached the end of its rope. I did not receive a phone call the next day or the day after that. I feel as if my phone calls are now being avoided. I have phoned Mark about 3 times and left the same message with no reply. At this point, the customer service that I have received is deplorable. I should not have to be one that calls to get an update when the third, fourth and fifth mistake has been made. It is almost getting to be a joke now when another mistake or miscommunication occurs. To date, I still do not know the status of my last chair which is lost somewhere in the warehouse. In fact, I haven’t the slightest clue when the correct part of my sectional will arrive. And of course, I’m still responsible for the full price of all the items I have purchased. Unfortunately, I cannot say that I would recommend this store to anyone after all of the problems I have experienced and the slow and I agree with other reviewers, often arrogant and condescending response from the customer service representatives.

    town house fully furnished (living, bedrooms, dining room and rec room)

    After a long and painful move from a 5 bedroom home to our new 2 bedroom town house, that involved a flat tire on the moving truck and a snow storm to boot, it was a welcomed relief when G.H. Johnson's showed up to deliver our new furniture the day after we moved in. The delivery men where so pleasant and took such precautions in setting up all of our furniture, including moving some large peices through tight spaces. The furniture was in perfect condition and everything we ordered arrived without a scratch! The staff at G.H. Johnson where very helpful and very accommidating to our tight timelines for the move. We will definately be back and would recommend G.H.J's in a heart beat!

    bedroom sets

    My order was as simple as it could be. The first bed came in and was incorrect. It took a lot of upset to get it sorted out. I was promised both sets to be in within 6 weeks. Its been over 2 months and have been promised over and over again that the second bed would arrive next week, then the following week. The sales people are rather condescending once things dont go thier way and I feel very sad that a company like this is allowed to operate. STAY MILES AWAY FROM THEM

    Dining room set

    We recently bought a new dining room set at Johnson's and were, as always, incredibly pleased with the selection, service and of course the best part - the extremely low prices. We've been coming back for three years and we will keep returning for many more to come. Thank you!

    sofas,dining room furniture,accent chairs,coffee tables, and occassional tables

    My experience with G.H. Johnson's Trading Co. has been delightful, and extremely satisfying. Assistance in selection of items purchased along with the delivery and ongoing service has been exceptional! The wide selection of products and designs make it a one stop shop when decorating a room or simply looking to add to a room. I have recommended this store to many clients and friends and will continue to purchase furniture and accessories there myself.

    Home Furnishings

    Furniture Purchases I am in my hotel room surfing the net to find a furniture store. I have just found one, I look at their website and find the things I like and then I visit this other site and read the reviews and many people are saying how poorly this place is but I like their furniture (I am going to check this out). It is August 29th; I have just stepped into GH Johnsons and purchased several items of furniture, since I am here from a different country. I need everything to sit, sleep, eat and decorate to feel comfortable. I went to the store and had a great time with Matthew, Kennedy, Rodney and Annie in bedding. My choices were a dining table, chairs and sofa, bedroom (2), living room, kitchen, etc. I am assured that I will have loaner furnishings if my items are not delivered as per our agreement. It is now the middle of November and I am still not having any answers as to when my furniture is coming. I am not too upset since I have the furniture they loan me when I moved into my place in October. Last night, I received my beautiful new furniture and I have just spent the entire night arranging and rearranging every piece. I love it. I finally feel like I am in my new home not just in my apartment but in Canada, you guys rock.

    Bedroom & Dining Room Suites

    I purchased some dining and bedroom furniture at the end of in October, we were informed that it would take 12-16 weeks for the dining room and an additional 4 weeks for the bedroom furnishings. My wife was very disappointed since we are expecting guests for dining not just family but business associates. We considered going somewhere else but were told they would do their best to set us up with a loaner for the holidays. Well on Monday we received a call to schedule our delivery for not a loaner dining room suite but our actual purchase (for me this was Christmas gift early). We were so pleased and resolved to wait for the bedroom furniture between the end of January or mid February. We received another call that their supplier had some stock of the bedroom furniture we ordered and they would like to deliver our complete purchase on Thursday. Imagine our reaction. Everything was in excellent condition. I am truly grateful for all the effort that went into getting us our purchases for this time. Way to go Johnson’s!!! Hats off to the owner and the sales team, much respect. My wife also purchased some new bedding and picked up some extra things.
