    dining room set

    i ordered a burmex dining set from johnson's with a customised finish, legs style and other details. there was a bit of a wait, but the sales staff was up front about how long it would take (about one month). sure enough, 4 weeks later i got a call saying my set had arrived and to set up a delivery time. it arrived on saturday, the delivery guys were very helpful and set everything up nicely, and were very considerate of my home. though it took a bit more time than other places, it was well worth it because it helped my familiy stay UNDER budget for our rennovations.

    Bedroom set

    My family has been shopping at Johnson's for about five years now as we've slowly been working on updating and refurnishing our home - our most recent purchase was a new bedroom set for our guest room. I have to say we've very consistantly had friendly service and absolutely the most competative prices around. Certain items do take longer than most - our sofa (from Klaussner) only took about three weeks, while our Bayview bedroom set took about two months, but we're always been notified when an item is by order-only. I have to admit that in five years, a couple times an item did take longer than expected - sometimes their manufacturers have issues, and we do understand - but for the prices we're getting twice in five years is more than worth the slight inconvinience when the rest of the time everything's been great.

    Bedroom Furniture, Couch

    I purchased a couch and bedroom furniture at the end of September. I was told the bedroom furniture was in stock on the day of purchase, and that it would be delivered when my couch came in in 6-8 weeks. When they called to schedule my delivery for my couch, I was told my bedroom furniture wasn't in stock! They told me that my salesperson forogt to tag it as sold! I keep calling but no one can confirm when it will be in. Let me also note that I paid for this furiture IN FULL the day that I ordered it. Well, my couch finally came, and when it was delivered, the L was on the wrong side and so was the couch! Not only is it backwards, but the pieces dont even fit! The delivery people left it at my house anyways. I have been calling since thursday - you think somemone would care- to me it is a matter urgent in nature. I finally got through to the owner on Friday- he said it was a manufacturer mistake that he would call me today after speaking with them. NO ONE HAS CALLED ME!! My sales person also told me they would remove my old couch but the delivery people made me pay 20.00 for removal. I honestly cannot imagine why people still shop here after reading the negative comments. I wish I had seen all of this before shopping here. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND ENERGY AND PURCHASE YOUR PIECES ELSEWHERE! I don't even know if I can express in words my anger and disgust! I wish I had not paid for my furniture in full as I'm wondering what the incentive will be to rectify my issues at this point!Lesson learned!!!!!

    New Furniture purchase

    I am so sorry I didn't paymore attention to these reviews. From the moment we stepped inside this store I should have walked back out the door. There is virtually NO ONE to assist you. You have to wait and run back and forth and practically 'beg' a sales person to assist you. We finally did purchase a sofa and chair, only to have the promised delivery delayed beyond acceptability. Still don't have it after MANY promises. Like the other reviews, I stongly believe products are in their warehouse and resold to other customers. No on knows what's going on. This store is a so-called small 'family-run' business - I'd like the owner Pat to know that he is doing a bang-up job of killing off these family-run businesses! No wonder people shop at the big box stores...better customer service, delivery on time AND getting what you purchased AND in excellent condition. The reviews with a '10' must be fabricated! Please beware!

    Furniture Purchase

    Purchased several items of furniture before our move to new house. Picked mostly in stock items as they were essentials for when we moved in (dressers, table, chairs, etc...). Were assured that the items would arrive by November 1. November 25 the first item arrived- our couch, which was on order and on time. When I called about the rest of my "in-stock" items I was told that they had been sold, were not available and would be in in a few weeks. They would have someone contact me by the end of the day to give me a date. No one called. The next day I called again- again the same thing. This went on for 10 days before my sales rep- GRACE- finally called and yelled at ME for not calling her directly. My items were there, she had put them aside and would send them out. Except for my chairs as they had in fact been sold to someone else. My dresser arrived broken, my table arrived scratched. It was another 5 days before they could book an appointment to have them repaired. Today is that day and I have been waiting an hour for the repair guy, called the store and was told he had car trouble and couldn't make it. No call to me. Not sure when they can come and repair any of it. Again- they will call me back. Told them that either get a repair person to my house on Monday or send a truck and take all $4000 of it back. I will NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. EVER! The best/worst part is that not once did they take the blame for any of the mistakes nor did they offer me any sort of discount or reimbursement for my time and trouble.

    Furnitue

    We were furnishing our new chalet up in Blue Mountain, and needed some good quality furniture, but we really didn't want to pay an arm and a leg. We pointed towards Johnson's and loved the selection - and the prices were even better. They even delivered it up to Collingwood for us. Furniture took a little time, but it was worth the wait.

    Finishing Basement

    We purchased a new home, and the basement was left unfinished, which was not to our taste. We planned out the entire project, and when it came time to get started, we went to GH Johnson's, where we've been shopping for about 15 years now, to pick out the new furnishings for what would be a guest bedroom, den, and game room. We made sure to go early, when the contracters were starting, and picked everything out. The pieces came in over the timespan of about three months, and Johnson's held onto them all for us until they all came in, and then waited an additional 3 weeks for us to finish renovating. Got everything sent over in one shipment, set up, and it looks just like we pictured it. Another reason to come back again. Thanks, Pat, we always appreciate your help!

    Chilren's Bedroom Set

    I was looking for an AP Bedroom set for my daughter and was referred by the manufacturer to GH Johnson's as a dealer of their line. I did some shopping around and the prices I found at Johnson's were definitely the lowest around. I picked out all the hardware and finishes, was helped by a lovely salesperson named Grace, and even though I was told it would take 6-8 weeks to come from AP, it actually only took about 4 and a half. Overall a very satisfying experience - and while I was there I saw some other great stuff I may just have to go back for!

    Desk, chair, lamp

    Johnson's has a huge show room with some very nice and varied pieces. It was a little hard to find a sales person in all that space, but when I did he was very knowledgable about the items I was asking about for our home office. Delivery took a little while longer than I would like, but for the price I got the furniture I didn't mind waiting all that much.

    Chair and ottoman and cabinet purchase

    Purchased a new Decorest chair and ottoman in July 08. We FINALLY received it at the end of October - damaged! Same thing with a $1000 cabinet we purchased. This is now December, we still do not have the chair we purchased in July. No one will call you back, assist you or even apologize for their crappy service. I read these reviews before going to the store but didn't really listen to others' advice. PLEASE take mine! Do not buy anything there - the stuff is inferior and just try to get ANY customer service IF you finally receive your purchase - because there WILL be problems with it. They have our money - but I have no chair! I'm still working on this problem/missing chair by having to waste my time calling every single day. It's just not right to ignore customers! RUN, don't walk, away from this place! Many people have liked the cabinet I purchased and asked where I got it...I tell them where I got it, but I tell them NOT to purchase ANYTHING there. I am so fed up with this sham of a store!
