    Ductwork

Decent work that any contractor could do! No thanks to management, office staff or the guy on TV ! . Never kept a shedule . Still owes me the parts to complete the job, been waiting nearly 5yrs. Gary assured me they would bring the additional parts I payed for. Way over priced. Doubles the price for equipment. I know this for a fact! They have a great staff. Fast and friendly as well as clean and respectful. Dissapointed in Northwood and Holmes On Homes. Mike Holmes.

    Heating air balance entire house

Needed to adjust venting output for entire house to make all rooms feel the same in temperature. Adjusted furnace fan output as well. Northwood came in and did a fine job. Explained job thoroughly. Friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

Maintenance Contract on Furnace and Air Conditioner

I purchased a new furnace and air conditioner from this company approx. 3 years ago, costing over $10,000. I also maintained a service contract with them which I paid for annually. I submitted my cheque for my annual maintenance contract in February and have not heard from the company since. I tried on numerous occasions to contact them, however, the phone is out of service. I went as far as contacting the Better Business Bureau, who were also unsuccessful in getting them to respond. The bottom line is, they went out of business without notifying their loyal customers or reimbursing contract fees. Shame on them for being such a dishonest company and taking hard earned money from loyal customers.

    No customer service

We are a long time customer of Northwood and have found us in the same position as other frustrated customers. We are due for our annual maintenance inspection and it seems the phone is not in service. We had a very difficult time waiting for a call back from them last year. We are assuming that this company has closed. We are extremely disappointed and feel that we deserve an explaination for the lack of communication. Currently, we are looking for a new company to service our furnace.

    annual maintenance contract

I decided to sign an annual maintenance contract with these folks last winter as I've always found them to be good at the spring/fall tune-ups and the occasional repair. It was a lot of money but seemed like a good investment. Unfortunately they have ignored my repeated attempts over the past six weeks or so to schedule a spring tune-up, in spite of the fact that my contract states that scheduling is their responsibility. Obviously I'm not the only one being left in the dark, out the money we invested in these contracts. Shameful conduct from a company that at one time had the "Holmes" seal of approval. I work hard to earn a living, pay my mortgage and bills, juggle all my expenses on my own, and having them take my money like this for work not done is infuriating.

    service contract

I have had service contracts for many years. They used to be good. This year they did not contact me for the annual service on my air conditioner. I have tried for over a month to contact them. I get no person on the phone, they have not responded to e-mail or voice mail messages. I figure I am out my money. A company you can not reach is useless. Last year they blamed the phone system for not working when I had the same problem reaching them.

    Maintenance

We started using Northwood 3 years ago and they were great. Cleaned our ducts once and oversaw our bi-annual maintenance. At the end of last year we signed a maintenance contract with them for over $300 and after that they disappeared, stopped returning calls and e-mails and now we're over 6 months later and we're out the money and need to find a new company. Not sure if they're still in business or not, but this is bad customer service to say the least.

    Poor Customer Service

We used this company a couple of years ago to install a new air conditioner and new line into the house. We have had nothing but problems ever since. After one year the AC didn't work and we had to have it serviced. Summer # 2 we had problems again. They quoted us around $350 for the job but after they did all the work said it would be $700. That work was done towards the end of last season and when I turned on my AC this year, it doesn't work again. I've called them 5 times and e-mailed them once to come and service it and have had no reply. How do you go from being a well known company that's been around for a very long time and is "Holmes" approved to this? I do not recommend and will be using another company moving forward. Very disappointing!

    HVAC Maintenance

We have used Northwood for a number of years for duct cleaning, HVAC maintenance, installation services. The technicians are generally good though we have had a dud or two. However, we have given up on them and found new HVAC contractors due to their unresponsive customer service. We had a couple of incidents where the field guys would tell us that they would have the office contact us about an issue we were having. We never got a call from head office. This was no big deal. Then we had a water heater fail. We called and left messages numerous times over a period of several days. We never got a call back. Eventually, we gave up and purchased a hot water tank at a big box store. Most recently, we called to order duct cleaning and didn't ever get a response. It was just not worth the frustration dealing with this company and we quickly found more responsive HVAC experts.

Not available in an emergency, care less attitude

We've had Northwood clean our furnace and air con for years. They even replaced a faulty part in the air con. Good work. No complaints. Until we had an emergency in very cold weather and we tried their emergency line. No one called us back so we went with the first person who did call us back. After the weekend, they called to book an appt to help us. When I told them that we'd left a message on their emergency line, I was told that it was broken and being fixed. When I explained how upset I was to be left, literally, out in the cold in -30, I expected some kind of remorse. The response: "oh well, what can you do?" On the spot, this company that we've trusted for years was fired. Yes, things happen. Phone lines break. But what really bugged me was little to no concern for a valued client. Too bad. Found a great new company.
