Review from Maxim Osadchy Review left on 4 Dec 2012Rating: 0 out of 5Ordered lawn care package with "money back guarantee" based on 80% of a promise that 80% of the weeds would be gone. Well I had more weeds after them. Did receive a discount, but no money back. After that repeated telemarketing calls, I asked around 15 times NOT TO CALL ME EVER AGAIN. The latest rep was super rude as well. Filed a Do not call complaint with CRTC.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Paid good money to try out the service after receiving a call from this company. Agreed to fertilization program and weed control and was told they would guarantee the work in the sense that they would re-spray if I was unsatisfied. Fertilization was done and I honestly have no idea if there was any effect on my lawn, but as far as weed control goes, no effect whatsoever! I called them back 1 month later to complain that my once tiny patch of weeds had spread immensely and looked terrible and was sarcastically told that I could not expect results with just one spray so they would re-spray. They came two weeks later and re-sprayed, again a month after that, no change in weeds except there were even more. Needless to say this has gone on and ON and ON and I'm sick of their excuses and promises. It's just a money-grab and absolutely a worthless service. I could go spray water on someone's lawn monthly and make money by saying it's weed control but I'm not as unethical as this company!Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

I do not recommend the weedman. They conviced me to sign up for their program with a "guarantee". If they did not kill my weeds, I did not pay. Well, they did not kill my weeds. I complained over 10 times and still they did not kill my weeds and continued to try to collect on their bill. They also charged me for fertilizer treatments but only delivered half of them. In the end I agreed to pay for half the fertiliser bill, but not the weed bill. They refused, wanted the entire amount, and now they have sent my bill to a collection agency. My advice - do not believe them when they say "guaranteed or you do do not pay", or when they say they will kill your weeds. Their product does not work.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Do not sign up with this company. It is a cash grab exercise. Just do a google seach on Weedman court case etc here in Canada and the US and you will read alot of horror stories. They don't do anything to your lawn and then when you refuse to pay they send your file to credit bureau canada and the CBC also know about this but do nothing about it and you have to spend money on a lawyer to get your name removed from the credit bureau agency. Weedman does not take you to court to get their money back, they just put your name on the credit list and you have to take them to court. Weedman works on the principle that people would rather pay than pay a lawyer to write a letter which would cost more. The sales people on the phone make money back promises so that they get their commision and you sign up and then all they want is money for sprinkling a few seeds on your grass, they don't even do a propert coverage spread. When you call to speak to anyone at the franchisee office it is always a junior clerk and the franchise head office in mississauga do not even return phone calls. PLEASE BE AWARE DON"T SIGN UP.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Today I received a 10 day notification advising that I owed 473.94 in late payment charges for an issue that was resolved in 2009. I hired weed man back in 2006/7 and prior and was happy with the results and paid for the service. Back in 2008 I don't know what happened, I hear they went green and the product they used wasn't applied properly, in any case my grass never looked worse, the weeds were out of control. In early 2009 I called with my concerns and dissatisfaction and I refused to pay for the service of 2008. During my numerous phone calls I was made to beleive this was resolved with upper management. Today after all these years I am receiving a bill for $695.95 of which $473.94 is for late payment. I called to resolve with Marchel who represented herself as the acting manager and person in charge. I noticed the bill showed I was being charged for two applications in May 2009 this was after I had already asked weed man not to continue service and that I was not willing to pay for the applications of 2008. I was willing to resolve this today with her and pay for the July 08 and Oct 08 fertilization but I refuse to pay for the weed control, she flat out refused and told me that I had to pay the full amount and that she would waive the late payment charge...this is a joke. If Steve reads this message I would appreciate a call back...I am extremely upset!Answer from pro:
Please contact me as I would like to attempt to help and resolve this matter. The balance on this account was before I started working at this office but I will attempt to do what ever I can. I understand that you are willing to resolve this account now at a large discount, but after so many years removed from when we serviced your lawn to state that our company is a 0 or a joke in any industry is completely inappropriate. 1 - application was to my neighbors lawn, in error 2 - applied to our lawn, but, animals were digging up the grubs 3 - reapplied the application. Animals still digging up lawn 4 - reapplied again. Animals stilling digging up lawn. 5 - Monday. Was told by Weedman they will do nothing now until spring because it is too cold. Please tell the animals! Weedman needs to review the product they are applying because this one obviously does not work.Answer from pro:
I understand your concerns but the animals digging, (raccoons, skunks) are a creature of habit and even if the grubs are gone they will still look for a food source that they were once able to find. Please call your local office and I know they will do everything they can to help their customer. I am unable to address your concerns any further as you are not serviced by my franchise and I do not have access to your account. I would ask that Homestars removes this review from my franchise's records. Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager Weed Man Scarborough

I used Weedman Scarborough in 2009 to try to combat weeds. By 2010 the weeds had not only multiplied, but we had a herb overgrowth problem from the previous owner that was compounded due to fertization. We began the process of digging up large parts of the lawn to resod. When Weedman asked if I wanted the service again in 2011 I said no, we are in the process of re-landscaping. Despite this they kept showing up and leaving bills. I called several times to tell them to stop and that I would not be paying the invoice because I specifically declined the service. They finally stopped coming but then the reminder notices and phone calls started. I recounted the situation several times and asked to have a manager call me. No one ever did. I stopped answering their calls and ignored the bills. Now, I've received a notice from a collections agency that says if I don't pay they will report to Equifax and Transunion Bureau which may effect my credit rating. Caution to those considering WeedMan.There are many other options, recommend you pursue them!Answer from pro:

I contracted weed man some time in July to get rid of the weeds from my lawn, the biggest mistake I did in this year. They sprayed weed control, there was not much effect on the weeds, while the grass started looking unhealthy. I called them after two weeks and complained about the 'no effect' on weeds. Weed man returned back after couple of weeks and sprayed the weed control again. All the broad leaf weeds died down and the grass colour turned to brown-green. I thought soon it will become normal, but nothing happened. In an attempt to bring the grass back to green, watered the lawn on alternate days. Nothing happened, other than hiking up the water bill by three folds. Weed man followed their process very sincerely, spraying of third dose of weed control, slow release fertiliser, etc, etc. I noticed that the grass became thin and there was no growth, colour permanently changed to shabby brown-green. As part of their process, inspected the lawn and reported as, "thatch formed in the grass, so it need to be treated with aeration, thatch removal, etc, etc for an additional cost of over $200, no word about the sick looking grass. Then, I decided to take the grass under my control.. Canadian Tire fertilizer and ‘Weed all’ helped me to retrieve the grass back to green. In the mean time Weed Man started annoying me with numerous phone calls on their recommendation for aeration and thatch removal etc. One day in October I called them and told, "Please do not make any visit to my Lawn"Answer from pro:
Please contact my office so we can look into your account in detail and resolve this concern together.

They came to spray the lawns now there are more weeds growing. Also they left my gate open everything time they came. Constantly calling to UPSELL and I declined multiple times. Then on the last call they spoke to another person that answered my phone and NOT me!!!!!!!! Confirmed in the phone call that was recorded that it was not me and still came to do the work and now I am left to pay the bill for work that I did not authorized. My name is on the account and no one else's, therefore they should have spoken to me before doing anything on my yard. Watch out for these people, anyone that answers your telephone can authorize work and you get stuck paying !!!!!!!!Answer from pro:
At no time will Weed Man add any additional services to at customers account without authorization. When we call or we always ask for Mrs. or Mr. ______ of the household to discuss any additional services that might be recommended. If someone at the household answers your phone and declares themselves the Mr. or Mrs. of the household and orders an additional service than that service when applied to your property should be paid for. I do apologize if we left your gate open as this is part of our company policy to respect our customers properties as if it was our own. Please call my office to resolve your concerns.

I own and manage a building and decided to try the full service. SAVE your money because I only got more weeds and less grass. They said I should have called about the weeds?? I said does your staff not see that a treatment is required? Also they asked if I watered; I have a sprinkler system, lol. What a joke and WASTE of money. Never again!Answer from pro:
