    Interior Painting

What started as a basement leak turned in to a full blown basement reno, luckily Jason and the guys from Renaissance Painters were available and up for the job. After getting the leak fixed and basement recarpeted, we decided to update the rest of the basement to match the new carpet. That meant removing the ‘popcorn’ ceiling, replacing the old light fixtures with pot lights, major plastering and repair to the walls and doors, all while preserving the new carpet. Jason understood our concerns and exercised extra caution with the use of a durable plastic flooring to preserve the carpet. Jason and Vince were efficient and accurate when giving the initial quote and very knowable about their product, which came in handy when trying to decide on paint colours. Their patience and reassurance was appreciated even when we came down with ‘cold feet’ after seeing the test swatch on the wall for the first time, complete with frequent phone calls and texts asking for backup choices in case the colour didn’t work out. So glad we decided to follow Jason’s sage advice to wait until a larger area was painted because the basement walls and refinished fireplace look amazing! As for the carpet, it’s as good as new, as promised. Nick and the other workmen even went over it with a vacuum after removing the covering just to be thorough. The project was scheduled to take a week, but was finished within 3 days and under budget. The level of professionalism, patience, and cleanliness was consistent throughout the whole project. A delight to work with, we would definitely invite Renaissance Painters back into our home for future projects and encourage others to do the same.

    Staircase Refinishing, Interior Painting

We went through major house renovations in 2013 and dealt with dozens of contractors, including another large painting company well reviewed at HomeStars. No other company or contractor came close to the quality of workmanship, professionalism and customer service that Renaissance Painters provided. The task was to refinish oak staircase to match new hardwood floors and repaint interior walls and trim. Work would have to be done on a very precise schedule to accommodate floor installation on the second floor and coordinated with other trades already working in the house. We've got several quotes from other contractors before calling Renaissance Painters, but no one was flexible enough to work around our schedule or had the skills to do the job start to finish (it involved dismantling the staircase, sanding, staining, varnishing, painting on site and spray painting off site). Also, Renaissance Painters was the only company that provided us with a spectrum of options (different types of stain, oil vs. waterborne paint for spindles and risers, painting on site vs. spray paint in the company spray shop etc.) and had the patience to discuss every option in detail. Not to forget the quote we got was reasonable and competitive. Once the job started, it was obvious that Renaissance Painters takes a lot of pride in their work. The crew went to great lengths to get the job done perfectly, no part of it was rushed or overlooked. One of the hardest tasks was to match the stain to existing floors, and they kept trying for hours in different light conditions until the result was a perfect match. I had several additional requests that would normally extend the timeline, but the crew came to work two hours earlier for several day, to make sure they have enough time to accommodate extra effort involved without changing the schedule. They even fixed the damage to the staircase and trim done by another tradesman working in the house at no extra cost. The result looks amazing. Jason (company owner) came over to check the work on completion and made sure we didn't pay until we were 100% satisfied. We often get compliments on our “new” staircase, it’s definitely the "wow" factor in the house. Overall we’re extremely impressed with Renaissance Painters and have no reservation to hire them again or recommend them to anyone. Thanks a lot for making tough project seem easy and stress-free!

    Exterior Brick Tinting

Jason and his team were excellent. We had a challenging job where our brick was splattered with mortar from old trim-work. While impossible to remove, the team at Renaissance tinted around each brick meticulously so now it all blends in. I would highly recommend this team.

    Painting and Priming Condo

This is the second time we have used Renaissance painters. This time, we had something of an emergency. The condo we were moving into within 7 days had a strong odor we couldn't pinpoint. Someone suggested sealing all paintable surfaces with a shellac based odor sealing primer and then painting afterwards. I called Jason who moved heaven and earth to get a team in there right away because of the timeline. They are extremely professional and care about the job they do. Vasso discussed everything they were going to do and walked me through the job once it was done. He told me to call him if I found any problems at all. When I did have a concern, I called Jason and he had his men back in there to remedy the problem within a few hours. They may be a little pricey but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this company.

    Exterior Brick Paint Stripping

Renaissance Painters did a great job on removing the paint from the front facade of my house. The job was well executed, on time and on budget. The clean up was very thorough and they took great care not to get any paint run-off on the neighbour's side of the house. I would recommend Jason and Renaissance Painters to anyone wanting to expose the brick under layers of old paint on their house.

    Painting

I wish we could have had the same experience that many of the other reviewers here had. We hired Renaissance to fix up and paint our walls and trim in our new house. Although they gave us the most expensive quote out of all of the other companies we looked at, we thought it was worth it given the many glowing reviews we found here. At first, everything went well… we selected our paint, work started on time and finished on time, and at first glance, looked like it was done well. We came on the last day to have a good look at the work before paying, but really didn’t have a chance since the crew kept coming back in the house and asking the foreman to hurry up and give them their money. We were told that the crew would come back to do any other touch ups. In the next few days, as we were moving in, we noticed that walls were not sanded before being painted, as discussed, there were paint globs everywhere, all of our bathrooms had paint in the sinks, and some on the floor, and almost every light switch had paint on it, despite the fact that they said they taped up everything and had us pay for a lot of taping supplies. The absolute worst was the powder room… the paint was uneven and blotchy, and there was paint everywhere. Jason assured us that they would come back and fix everything, we just had to put some green tape on any problem spots... our walls ended up being covered in green tape. Once they did come back, they fixed everything we noted, but not before giving me pathetic excuses like they didn’t do a good job in the powder room because we had removed the light so as to not get it dirty. What professional painter doesn’t have a portable light? They were basically telling me that they painted my powder room in the dark and it was my fault it didn’t turn out well! They also grabbed our dish sponge, the one we use to clean the dishes that we eat from, to clean the paint that they got on my kitchen cabinets… like the thousands of dollars we paid them for supplies didn’t cover a $2 sponge. At that point, we just wanted to get them out of our house. We are still finding deficiencies, but we will just fix them ourselves… not worth the hassle of dealing with the work crew again.

    Cabinet Refinishing

I wanted to commend your team on the excellent work they just recently completed on our kitchen - you deliver a 5 star service at reasonable prices. From the moment I emailed your company to request a quote, to the minute you completed the job, you have been nothing but professional, timely and dedicated to making me feel like a valued customer. Everything that was promised on you over delivered. The transformation of our kitchen from dark and dated to bright and modern is astonishing. I would never have thought that editing the cabinet colors would look so dramatically different and best of all they look like they were just bought from the store – no streaks, no bubbles – nothing but a perfect finish. I recommend your team to anyone looking for a more affordable option versus investing in an entirely new kitchen. You literally cannot tell that our kitchen isn’t a brand new install.

    Interior Repaint

I was in a situation where tenants for my property moved out and the walls in the living room had been stripped of their paint and had many holes from nails in them. I had new tenants moving in the next day and so I needed the paint job done that very same day. At 3pm I called Renaissance Painters, who responded to my emergency painting job promptly and sent workers over to work the night shift. The painters were very professional, quick, and thorough. I am impressed by their work and would recommend them to anyone looking for a painting job to be done right.
