I cannot say enough good things about George and Marcio from Higher Grounds. This was my first granite counter and George was very patient in educating me on what was a very big purchase for me despite what what likely a small job for him. Also, their prices are unbeatable. For less than what I would have paid for a commercial grade granite counter from other companies, I was able to get a very high end stone for a great price, with the sink and profile of my choice included. Marcio, who did our installation, is a true artisan. Our stone was not 'uniform' and therefore we anticipated that lining up the profile to avoid seeing the line where the two pieces join would be very difficult. But we were thrilled to see that Marcio was able to make it look like it was one piece of stone. I also think it's worthwhile to point out how trustworthy and reliable both George and Marcio were throughout the entire process. We renovated our entire house and encountered many untrustworthy and unreliable tradesmen and contractors. Thank you George and Marcio - the granite counter is by far my most favourite part of my new kitchen. Very best regards, Katherine

We have just had a beautiful kitchen counter installed by Higher Grounds, and we would like to say the whole experience was just great! From the moment we entered their office and met Jorge we felt that he seemed to know the business and he inspired confidence. He made suggestions and was generally very helpful. Marcio came to our home and did all the measuring, and a couple weeks later, with the help of Enayat, installed a beautiful counter and bar (in a single very intense day), and did last minute adjustments on site. They cleaned up afterwards and took the old counter away to be disposed of. They also told us how to care for the counter and left us a nice cutting board made from the same stone. They were all super to deal with, efficient and pleasant! There were no surprises or hidden costs. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. One of the guys even managed to arrange a plumber for us at the very last moment, when our plumber who was supposed to come to install our new faucet was unable to do so. We would highly recommend them, and feel anyone using them can expect a high degree of professionalism, reasonable price, and a top-notch job! Thank you at Higher Grounds for a job well done!

Everything went smooth with this company.... The measurement and installation was done by professionals who were honest, respectful and technically skilled. They did what they said they were going to do, in the best way possible. They disposed off the old countertop and cleaned up the mess as much as possible. What a find! Amazing prices and service. Ask for Mario. this wonderful man came out to measure, and then on the day of installation, brought the finished counter top - tweaking the fit on site. As a little "thank you" he made us a small granite cutting board out of the same granite. He did all the work - we didn't have to do any measuring, didn't have to remove the existing counter top, etc., etc.

After lengthy research on Granite, and even more on different companies products and prices, we chosed Higher-Grounds, for the price and quality of the workmanship, and three years later, with lots of complements from friends and relatives are very happy with the choice we made. We would and have recommended this company, most of all for the workmanship and timely delivery and intallation of they work, we are a super, super satisfied customers

We chose Higher Grounds after receiving quotes from 2 other contractors in the Markham area. Though their granite selection stock on hand was limited, they had the granite - Tan Brown - that we were looking for, so it did not matter. First we met Jorge and he took time to explain the way his company did business and was upfront with all the costs. One of the best thing about higher grounds is that there are no hidden costs! They gave a rate that was all inclusive and better than the other 2. Jorge also showed us around his workshop and, being an engineer myself, I saw he had one of the best stone cutters in his shop. We were finally satisfied about Higher Grounds capabilities when we met Marcio who is the person who comes to do the templating as well as installation. Being a partner in the business, he has a vested interest in making sure everything has gone right and we were happy to know that a partner is supervising the granite installation. They required a 10 day leadtime after the templating, and the whole scheduling and installation went smoothly. We explained Marcio where we wanted the taps placed and he was able to accomodate our requests, especially on the one side where 2 were next to each other. Our only minor complaint is that the joint where the 2 granite slabs come together could have been done better. But other than that, the granite edges and all the rest has worked out very well. A definate recommend!

If you are looking for granite kitchen countertop I highly recommend Higher Grounds Granite located at 51 Esna Park Drive Markham Ontario. I am very satisfied with the job they did in my kitchen. I visited seven granite shops and choose Higher Grounds Granite based on the price and quality of their work. Every place I went I learned a thing or two about granites and how to choose and what to look for. Beware of the rates that are lower than others. Check the quality of their work and see what else they are adding to your price. Some places had advertised great low rate per square foot of granite but then they were adding extra for edging, extra for under mount sink and sink. Some even calculated the area of the kitchen countertop in a manner that it came out at least 20 feet more than actual kitchen counter. The reasons I was told was that they have to use two slabs so I have to be charged for it since the rest is waste, another reason was that my peninsula was a funny shape and needed a lot of granite, and some simply calculated more without any reason. One more thing, I was told, in some places, that I have to remove the old countertop by myself and put plywood on it before they come to install the granite. None of these with Higher Grounds Granite, they calculated my countertop area multiplied by the price of granite, that’s it. The job was done very professionally. They even helped with a better design for my peninsula, it so much larger than it used to be, we can easily fit 5 chairs around it before it was 3. We love our new countertop and wonder why we didn’t do it earlier. So if you are looking into buying granite countertops give Higher Grounds Granite a visit.
