We recently hired The Home Improvement People to do a renovation on our main bathroom. Having always done our own home renos, we were sceptical about hiring a contractor. After our meeting with Ben, we were satisfied that we were making the right decision. From demolition to final installation, Kris and his crew Harvey and Andy, were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, skilled and just a pleasure to have in our home. They made suggestions, consulted with us at each step of the process, were patient with our questions and concerns, and regularly checked with us to see if our expectations were being met. They finished ahead of schedule and the bathroom looks amazing. Our expectations were definitely exceeded. Simply put, if you are hesitant about hiring a contractor, without a doubt we would recommend The Home Improvement People.

We had 4 bathrooms renovated by The Home Improvement People. These were high end and significant renovations and while one might normally default to one of those expensive turn-key design and renovations studios for this nature of renovation, having seen the excellent reviews posted for the HIP here on Homestars we decided to give them a try. Ben responded to my initial request for a quote within a day and came out the house a couple of days after that to walk us through the estimate, with practical renovation ideas and suggestions. The quote by the HIP was far and away superior to two other quotes we received and we decided to proceed with them. Gerhard, Nucu, Alex and the rest of the team showed up on the agreed start date and worked continuously with complete dedication and professionalsim until the job was done. Change orders were dealt with in a responsible and professional manner and the quality of the work was absolutely "top drawer". We couldn't be more pleased. We had previously had our kitchen renovated a number of years ago by one of the well known turn-key design/renovation studios in our area and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that anyone considering a high-end renovation should not think twice about hiring The Home Improvement People, as you will save yourself tens of thousands of dollars. You do have to do more of your own legwork in choosing tiles, countertops and bathroom fixtures (and those hard costs are in addition to the costs under the HIP contract) but, quite frankly, my experience has been that you end up doing that work anyways with the fancy design/renovations studios and pay a significant mark-up to boot! The HIP folks made excellent recommendations on where we could source those materials and gave us the benefit of their contractors discount, saving us more money. Each one of the 4 bathrooms we renovated was done a first class standard and our master ensuite is to a standard which is as good as any five star/five diamond hotel that we have been in. So I would say, if you are prepared to do a bit of your own leg work (which is not much more than you would do with the turn-key outfits) and you want to save a ton of money and receive an excellent product in the end, don't be hesitant to try The Home Improvement People. They are every bit as good as the well known turn-key design and renovation studios, at a far better price!

Home renovations can be a stressful event. Not with the Home Improvement People. The crew that was assigned to renovate our upstairs bathroom and downstairs powder room were absolutely wonderful. Kris Ramkissoon and his crew Andy & Habib (hope I got that right!!!) took pride in their work and it showed in the end results. I was kept informed by Kris throughout and was completely impressed by their professionalism and attention to details. Kris kept to his timeline for completion and I couldn't be happier with my new bathrooms (they're beautiful). Thank you Kris & crew for making this a "stress free" experience.

I had my upstairs main bathroom renovated by “The Home Improvement People” from Toronto this past October 2013. From the moment of contact for a quote to the last day of completion, I was very happy and pleased by the fine workmanship and professionalism displayed by Elia and his team of Jerry and Max. Initially, I looked on the Homestars website for a company that could complete my bathroom renovation. I saw that “The Home Improvement People” had very good reviews. At first I was concerned that it was a Toronto company but there was no problem with the reno team coming to Hamilton for a renovation. I called and Elia came to my home and provided a quote which I immediately accepted. All I had to do was collect all the materials (tile, grout, paint, bathtub, toilet, vanity and fixtures) and Jerry and Max would take out the old materials, dispose of it and install the new. Jerry was very helpful in advising me on a couple of issues that occurred. One with the new bathtub I bought which had defects and also with what fixtures that would look best. It took six bathtubs and a trip with Jerry and Max to Lowes before we found a bathtub that we could install that was without a defect. What I was most happy with was the time it took for Jerry and Max to complete the work. My reno was completed in seven days from tear down to completion. For work to be completed in a timely manner is most important for a homeowner especially when there is only one main bathroom in the house. A big thank you to “The Home Improvement People” and to Jerry and Max for a job well done. I would highly recommend this company and would use them again whether it be for a home or cottage renovation.

I loved the quality of work performed by Home Improvement People. The quotation for services was easy to understand and was followed to a T. The installer assigned to our project was Jerry. He did a fantastic job! He was meticulous, thorough and also had some additional ideas to help make our bathroom look great! I love our new bathroom! Thanks Home Improvement People!

Starting with the sales phase, the salesperson was very helpful and was not a "high pressure" guy. My wife and I are very impressed the workmanship and are delighted with our newly finished bathroom. Equally important to mention, the workman that performed the work was also very professional and pleasant to work with during the renovation. We are definitely going to use the Home Improvement People again and would recommend to anyone else to consider them for their home projects.

Eli did a thorough job walking us through the process and providing an accurate quote. He was always available to answer any questions and offer support which we appreciated. Haydee was also very prompt and professional in all our dealings. She took time to answer questions and supported the process in terms of billings and paperwork very accurately. Mien, Seth, Shen and the team on the ground were exemplary. This is my third house and I've done reno's before and I can say I've not met a team as competent, professional and courteous as them. Mien was very detail oriented and always took the time answer my questions thoroughly and explain what he was doing. He offered excellent suggestions including on design choices my wife made and on finishes. The team finished the work on time without rushing and we're thrilled with the final results. You have an excellent team and I will be posting a review on Home Stars shortly. We will also be recommending the Home Improvement People to friends and family. I'm in the software business and know it’s not easy to institutionalize best practices, knowledge, good process and attitudes in ways that scale. Basement We were hit by the July flood. We didnt get it as bad as some of our neighbors but it still did major damage. While others didnt return calls or didnt show up for estimate - The H.I.P came on time, sent me an estimate the next day, helped guide me in talks with the insurance adjuster and then proceeded to put my basement back together speedily. with 3 young kids we really use our bathroom and our life was in upheaval. Home Improvement People renovated my basement and did an amazing job - they lived up to their good reputation. The contractors arrived on time, they went through great lengths to keep my house clean and were always reachable when I had a question. I would recommend them without hesitation.
