    Fuse Panel Replacement

Crew arrived on time as scheduled, Workmanship was top notch. Work place was left spotless you would never know they had been there other than the work of art they left behind.Highly recommend them to anyone any time.

    Answer from pro:

Timothy, thank you for this review. We really appreciate that you noticed the good clean-up. It has always been important for us to leave a job in spotless condition. Electrical panels are not often looked upon as a "work of art" (other than to other electricians), so we also appreciate your kind comment ... it might not be the "Mona Lisa" ... but we are glad that you like it ! We hope to see you again sometime ... bw

    Electrical repairs/

Thanks to Dan and to his administrative support Diane for bringing us out of the dark. After a do it yourself disaster, I called Captain Electric to fix the wrong installation of a dimmer switch, which then tripped off other outlets in the house. It was a quick fix, but my appreciation to them for clear, upfront pricing and process. I will be using this company again for any future electrical installations that are beyond our capacity. Thanks guys!

    Answer from pro:

It was our pleasure to help you Julie. It just proves that sometimes things can go wrong, even on a seemingly simple installation. We are here to help, and look forward to being of service again ... bw

    new hydro panel

Dave went above and beyond even coming to the house on a Sunday when we were worried about the old panel. Dave and Kevin worked in a very professional manner, identified areas to be corrected. We were thoroughly pleased with their work. They were concerned for our welfare, honest and hard working. We would highly recommend them.

    Bathroom Fan installation

Within 24 hours of contacting Captain Electric, the company was on site and reviewing the work that needed to be done. After assessing the work that needed to be done, Dan, electrician, provide a solution that was better that what I asked for. Fan was installed in the ceiling with a direct pipe/vent to the outside. (prior to this fan as in wall, and vent had a 's' pipe. Price was reasonable and fix was better given it was a solution that we wanted but thought it would be too costly. I am more than pleased with this work. It was a job well done. Work area was left clean and former fan location was covered appropriately. Thanks Captain Electric/Dan.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Donna, we appreciate your kind review. Now that you have a top quality fan and venting that is properly installed to outside, you will now enjoy trouble free operation for many years to come. I am glad that you noticed our clean-up afterwards. Thank you for choosing Captain Electric, and we look forward to seeing you again when you need us. ...... bw

Aluminum Rejuvenation & 200 Amp Panel

I have a 50+ year old home in Mississauga that needed some long overdue electrical updating and repairs. The entire Team at Captain Electric were so amazing and I would give them 100%++. From talking with the ladies in the office to the team of Expert Electricians that did the rejuvenation and panel change were all so amazingly professional. They all really care and take pride in what they do. I must say this was the best experience I have ever had with contractors (believe me with an old house I have had many). Captain Electric went above and beyond my expectations and I would highly recommend this team of experts. Thank you again Captain Electric I am sleeping much better knowing my home is much safer.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Maureen, we appreciate your kind comments. Your electrical system is much safer now that every connection in the home has been remade and all new receptacles and switches have been installed. Aluminum wiring requires special care and attention at all connection points (switches, receptacles, lights, junction boxes). The problems you were experiencing have all been taken care of. Your new Electrical Panel is now up to code, and there are spaces available for any new circuits you may need in the future. Main Panel SURGE Protection provides a "First Line of Defense" against power surges that can damage electronic components within your home. We thank you Maureen, for choosing Captain Electric, and look forward to seeing you again in the future ..... bw

Home EV Level II Charging Station Install and Follow Up Service

Back in May I purchased an Electric Vehicle. To get the most out of my new car I decided to invest in a Home Level II EV Charging Station. I contacted Captain Electric as I live in the Durham Region and found them through a web search. If I remember correctly it was Dave who came out and did the initial consultation. He made sure I understood what needed to be done and had product info for the Charging Station. I went ahead with the Install / Purchase. The guys came, did the work, and the inspector came when it was finished and did the sign off. Captain Electric provided me with paperwork so I could get my Ontario Rebate for the Install. Everything thing was fine. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago.... my Charging Station had some issues so I gave Captain Electric a call. Diane took my info and a couple of hours later Dave called me back with some suggestions that may resolve the issue without a service call. Unfortunately these didn't work. ( Diane had actually emailed me to find out if they had worked, before I had a chance to try them). When I did inform them, they quickly were able to get a replacement unit as mine was still under warranty and had the replacement installed within a few days. As with the first visit for the install, the guys were great. They did their thing and all was great again. What made the whole experience from Install to the Service Call Excellent; was their follow up with me. I did not have to chase them for answers, deal with them being late for our pre arranged appointment time, or an ever shifting price tag. The final cost was the same as the quote. In addition when they ran the cable from my Electrical Box they were very careful of my personal items. The only way I would have been happier was if they found cash in my drop ceiling. I understand when it comes to a product or service everyone's expectation level can be different for whatever reason. That being said Captain Electric Exceeded Mine. I would gladly use their service again and recommend them to friends and family.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Arthur, for posting this review. All of our installations are fully guaranteed - so when you had a problem with the EV Charging Station that WE installed - this becomes OUR problem. Although it is rare that the circuit board on this unit would fail (especially with Surge Protection installed at your Main Panel), sometimes these things happen. We were glad that we were able to replace the defective unit promptly for you. As for finding cash in the ceiling - rest assured that we would have reported this to you if we did find something (lol). We look forward to being of service again Arthur, whenever you need us ........ bw

    Panel Change

we had our condo's old (original) fuse box replaced with a new, switch type panel, by Captain Electric. We were pleasantly surprised at how quick and hassle-free the conversion was. We love the convenience of the switch type. No more fuses to mess with! Your electrician left us with a clearly marked listing of what each switch on the panel controlled, which we didn't have before. The panel also has some extra switches, if we make electrical additions to our home. Needless to say, when that day comes, we will be calling Captain Electric. Thanks and Best Wishes Always,

    Answer from pro:

Thank you John and Judy. We were happy to have been of service, and be able to update your old fuse panel to modern circuit breakers. A detailed panel directory is something that we leave with every homeowner. The extra circuit spaces that are available will definitely be of value should you decide to add recessed lighting or under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen, or take on other renovations. We look forward to being of service again in the future .......bw

Knob & Tube Removal- Rewire Project

When initially looking for an electrical contractor in the Oshawa area, I visited the Homestars website on the Internet. I read good accounts from people that had hired Captain Electric. And felt like they'd be a good fit for my job, too. In order to qualify for my Home Insurance, I needed to have all of the old knob-and-tube wiring in my 30's-era house removed. Enrico came by and did a quick estimate of the costs, including options for additional outlets and lights throughout the house.. He and his crew performed quick and admirable work. They were always on time, and acted completely professional at all times. I would easily recommend them to anyone looking for quality electrical contracting work!

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Rich, we appreciate your comments. Insurance Companies are well aware of the potential problems with Knob and Tube Wiring. Being an older system, there are a number of issues . . . The system is ungrounded, insulation is often cracked, deteriorated or falling off, and the wiring has been modified (new wiring spliced into the old K&T wiring is an especially serious situation). Also - K&T wiring was designed to dissipate heat through "free air" and is not rated to be in contact with thermal insulation (many older homes with K&T wiring have had insulation blown in and is contacting the K&T). There are many reasons why replacing K&T wiring is the ONLY safe solution. You can now be assured that your home is safe with a modern wiring system. We look forward to being of service again sometime. Thank you for choosing Captain Electric ........... bw
