    Garage

Stuart and his team converted an office (that was once a garage) back into a garage. The previous owners did a very poor job, and Stuart was able to fix all the problems. Being first time homeowners, Stuart was very patient and knowledgeable, and guided us in the right direction. His recommendations/suggestions on the project were very helpful. He always kept our budget in mind. We enjoyed working with him so much, we wouldn't hesitate to ask him back.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks very much for your kind words. We enjoyed working with you both and are particularly pleased that you re-hired us recently to complete a bathroom renovation. Thanks again! Stuart - CCR Renovations

    Full Basement Renovation

Stuart was extremely knowledgeable, provided excellent advice, finished the job with precision and quality and kept the entire project within my budget and in the tight time frames he was given. My basement is absolutely gorgeous and family, friends and neighbours love it. Highly recommended!

    Basement Finishing Project

We have recently worked with Stuart from CCR Renovations to finish the basement in our new home in North Oshawa. The project included framing new walls, putting in a shower room, utility room and an open plan entertainment area. Stuart was very knowledgeable, polite and hardworking, going the ‘extra mile’ to keep our project on budget and on time. He was happy to answer any questions that we had and had some great ideas for our ‘blank canvas’ basement. CCR Renovations were recommended to us by a work colleague and we would have no hesitation in recommending him to our family and friends. We will be getting Stuart and his team back to do various jobs around our home when the need arises.

    High End Loft Conversion

I've worked with Stuart on a number of home renovation projects now and I've been thrilled with his personable nature, and professional outlook when it comes to renovation projects. My projects are never straightforward (high end bath in 100 year old warehouse conversion loft, 100 year old church conversion complete gut/reno among other projects). Stuart goes above and beyond to find ways to complete projects on time and as close to budget as possible. I always had a fear of trying to find a good contractor... like a needle in a haystack... I took a chance on Stuart through another site a couple of years ago and have been working with him ever since. Give him a call he's a great (British) guy, and an excellent contractor.

    Century Home Renos

I have worked with Stuart on multiple projects on our century home, all with great success. Our first reno was a bathroom reno, where we gutted and completely rebuilt the bathroom from scratch. Heated floors, with travertine floor, marble shower, new insulation, electrics and fixtures were all installed and approved by the local building inspectors. We also created a new stairwell to our attic as well as many other odds and ends (ie. smooth ceilings, fixes to plaster walls, and replacement of knob/tube wiring on the entire second floor and attic). Our second project was a complete gut and rebuild of our attic. This involved new insulation, drywall, and custom cabinetry to make better use of space in our century home. Stuart also renovated our front porch, levelling the roof, and rebuilding the pillars, posts and rails from scratch. All work was done on time, and with a professional approach. Stuart is flexible to work with the customer, and discuss changes to the 'plan' as they arise. He also offers great advice based on his building expertise. I would recommend Stuart, and will be using him in the future for our basement reno.

    Bathroom & Basement Reno

Our century home was in need of some fairly extensive renovations and I chose CCR Renovations because of their experience of working on older properties. Initially, our renovations were a complete refit of our master bathroom, as well as a laundry room renovation, however, after seeing the standard of his work, his prices and his work ethic, we contracted him to renovate our basement. The basement, as well as our other renos, came in on budget, on time and the standard of his work was impeccable. We are presently in negotiation with him to quote for a kitchen renovation also! I found Stuart and his crew very friendly, extremely professional and would have no hesitation in recommending him.

    Extensive reno of Victorian semi

We hired Stuart M [last name removed - ed]/CCR near the end of 2007 after reading positive comments from previous clients. We needed to do a serious reno of our Victorian in downtown Toronto and hired him based on his years of experience working on similar houses in the UK. Things started out okay but after the rough work was done, Stuart disappeared for months on end. He would occasionally call complaining of labour shortages and/or truck problems and would endlessly promise to turn up to work a few days later. He wouldn't show up of course. While the quality of work was fair to average at the beginning, it declined as his interest waned. We always paid Stuart on time, whenever requested. We certainly bought into his "nice guy" routine and truly believed he would return to finish the work he'd started (and been paid for). He didn't. We are now hiring other people to finish off the jobs and clean up the mess this jackass left behind. We are stuck with shoddy workmanship, jobs half finished and in some places need to be completely redone. Trimwork is crooked, plaster and drywall is rough and unsanded yet primed over, pieces of 100-year-old Victorian trim unique to the house were mangled or thrown away. Stuart, of course, offered to remake them but has never followed through. The punchline: I asked him to return our housekey after finally giving up on him. His response: his labourer broke it off in the work van lock! Hilarious! Stuart and his team could provide fodder for Mike Holmes for a whole season of shows. Do not hire this guy to do anything that cannot be completed within a day's work. Actually a better idea: Do not hire him at all.
