It is very challenging to find a professional or company that is both extremely effective and efficient. Rocco embodies both qualities in such a graceful way. He was very effective in working with us to explain potential solutions to making our home open concept and also extremely efficient in helping us get a permit application in less than a week despite his travels at the time. He is extremely committed to providing excellent work for his clients and it has been such a pleasure working with him and his company.

Hi, when we decided to renovate our kitchen few months ago we quickly realized the scope of work was going beyond merely changing cabinetry and that we needed an architect to move forward. We found Architalcan Design on Homestar and asked Rocco for his help to make engineering drawings and City permit. This process was quickly executed, in few days we had drawings made and received our City Permit 2 weeks later. Rocco is very organized, resourceful and always available to answer questions. We appreciated his attention to details and his advice during the design phase of our project. We would recommend Rocco to anyone who needs an architect.

We needed a building permit for the interior alterations to our house but didn't have any contacts in the industry. Instead we relied on Homestars for leads where we found Architalcan with lots of positive reviews. We requested a quote from Rocco who was on vacation out of country but still found the time to respond with a competitive price and have the house measured up before he returned! We got some good advise on site about how to deal with existing conditions and these were accurately reflected in the permit drawings. The turnaround to getting permits in hand was only a few weeks and the contractor trades are telling us they can accurately quote from the drawings.

We retained Rocco to resolve a city compliance order on our garage. He professionally assessed the situation, and developed a design with minimal cost, and submitted to the city. As often the case with old, legally non-compliant houses downtown, the city rejected the building permit application. Rocco very resourcefully communicated and patiently negotiated with the permit office, and in short time was able to get the permit approved, which had seemed rather hopeless from the wording on the initial rejection. Rocco then connected us to a work crew to implement the permit, and persuaded the inspector to come on site to give a heads up on the renovations before the dry wall finishing came on, so we would save any unexpected and costly later surprise. We were very satisfied with the work, professionalism, and dedication for this project, which far exceeded our expectation from a designer.

Hi, The scope was to design and submit for permits a second floor addition to the existing house and I'm the owner of that house. The task for Architalcan was to design the addition, "connect it to the house" and submit for permits. Both speed and quality were just impressive: actual clean time that was spent on drawings was literally invisible comparing to city processing time lines and site inspections. During the design the owner's layout proposal was rejected with reasons and another (have to admit - a better one) was introduced and became final. As a result permits were received (btw, we had to go through Committee of Adjustments and won the case with solid confidence) and we are in a construction phase right now. Builder found most of design ideas to be absolutely reasonable, logical and optimized for construction. I would recommend this company for an architectural phase, just have clear vision of your targets and the rest will be executed/completed by real and experienced professional.
