    Front and Backyard Lightings

    I am a trained graphic designer from New York City who happens to be very picky. Scott worked on our front and backyard lightings and they are works of art. He genuninelycares about the job he takes, very dependable, and pours himself onto the job. Amongst so many rip-off artists of the industry, he is a breath of fresh air!

    Landscape lighting, front yard and back yard

    We have a large backyard and front yard that had been landscaped a couple of years ago but we felt that we needed lighting to maximize the potential.. We contacted Scott based on home stars reviews and were very happy with our choice.. He was very responsive and came up with a great lighting plan. The lights were installed in a timely manner and Scott was great about coming back to inspect the final product and make adjustments as needed. The final product is perfect- great lighting that really showcases the landscaping and makes our yard and pool very usable as well as beautiful. He even was able to add lighting to a previously unused gas light in out front yard! Highly recommended

Lighting is an especially difficult concept to understand and the expression 'seeing is believing' is certainly true with lighting. You can only have nice lighting if you've got the elements to light and the most difficult part of your design was choosing which elements to light!     Home lighting

    We are currently in the process of renovating our home and we hired Light Emitting Design to install some LED spot lights for the exterior of our house as well as interior. We had them install under cabinet LED lighting for the kitchen and some recessed lighting for the rest of our home and the results are impressive. I am very happy with the outcome and best of all, the annual cost savings are more than welcomed. Overall, we are very satisfied with their work and I highly recommend them.

    Front Yard LED lighting

    Scott is a great guy and very professional and detail oriented. He explained the entire project and walk me through the pros and cons. He had no problems sourcing lights from California and also had his own LED lights to offer. So, the flexibility was great. Since I am technical, this is great for me as it gives me a lot of confidence. He talked about any changes that needed to be made and his crew was very good as well. There was a slight problem with one of the lights but he came back multiple times to make sure it was done correctly. It has been 6 months and I have not seen any issues. Hopefully they last me for another 10 years. Will use him again.

It was a real treat lighting your home as you allowed me the freedom of using this 'new' technology in ways that old style lighting could never accomplish.

    exterior lights

    Scott has had lots of experience with lighting and design so it was not surprising that he could take my situation and offer a great look and sound advice. While renovating the front of our house we discussed LED's with Scott who worked with our contractor to design and install the lights. We asked Scott to put lights in at the back of our house as well but in a temporary manner until we were able to renovate that area. Scott was very helpful and accommodating - he even arrived 2 years later promptly to finish the installation of the backyard lights, again working with our contractor to get the job done and they look beautiful. I'd recommend Scott and Light Emitting Design to anybody. It's great to find somebody who is knowledgeable and easy to work with.

    Landscape Lighting

    Scott came and did the sample lighting patterns and gave us referrals to check. Installation was easy and the service has been terrific. I'm extremely pleased with the lighting effect in my back yard. I'd highly recommend him.

    Extensive backyard lighting in newly designed yard

    Scott, the company owner, firstly introduced us to this product by demonstrating some of these very energy efficient, low voltage lights that give off a soft glow, ideal for outdoor effects but strong enough for overall lighting, safety and security. The quote provided was very fair and competitive. This lighting component was part of a large, total design and construction overhaul of our backyard. Scott visited the property on a regular and frequent basis, working with our main contractor and designer, as well as with the qualified electrician LED uses, to ensure the proper laying of all electrical conduits as the main job was built from the ground up. Scott and his team's work was at all times within the promised time lines, on budget and fully inspected and to Code. At his suggestion, he even included speaker wire in the buried conduits so we now have the music/additional speaker options throughout the yard when we want. As well, he had his electrician at the same time lay all wiring and outdoor sockets for additional electrical usage. Most of all though, the result is stunning since he frequently came at night to make adjustments and add lights in and around the fencing and planting in order to get it just right. An outstanding result and execution from start to finish.

    The key to a good lighting design is to have elements that are worth lighting and your backyard had some beautiful elements, from the stone stairs, to the outdoor fireplace and the grotto.     Outdoor lighting for deck, porch and landscaping

    A few years ago we had Scott McKinnon of Light Emitting Design install some LED lights in the front garden and exterior of the house. At the time it was a bit of a leap of faith as the technology was quite new. We have absolutely LOVED these lights! We have recently installed more lights on our new back deck. They cost almost nothing to run, turn themselves on and off and are totally hassle free. The quality of the light that is given off is so soft and there is no light pollution or spill-over into the neighbours' space. If you need exterior/landscape lighting I highly recommend these lights and I know that Light Emitting Design will provide you with excellent service - just like they did for me! Julia St. Louis

    LED Outdoor Lights at our Cottage

    We have a cottage in the Kawarthas and needed outdoor lighting. Scott MacKinnon installed his LED lights which look absolutely fabulous! No more bright annoying lights shining from our deck. There is not heat from them so the bugs are not attracted to them which is great! They look so natural in the setting and they cost nothing to run. We have had them for a couple of years and have recommended them to many friends! Once we landscape our home in the city we will be calling Scott again!
