We interviewed 8 contractors to dig out and underpin our basement. John's estimate was the cheapest and he was one of the best communicators: quick to respond, clear and informative. Jesse, the Supervisor delivered the project within the timeline and to the budget. There were no surprises. These are honest hardworking guys and we recommend them highly.

I'm very happy that I hired Max Gen Contracting to lower and underpin the basement and crawl space of my >100 year-old town house in dowtown Toronto. I got to this company by reading an article in the Toronto Star about the house collapse in North Toronto. The journalist mentioned 2 underpinnning companies - I contacted both of them - of the two, Max Gen Contracting made the job sound very possible, even though the access to my site was horrible. It so happened that they had also lowered the basement of a neighbour's house on the street and that the neighbours were very pleased with the work. The team is very professional. Everything was completed on time, on budget and as per what they promised. If something needed fixing afterwards- they did not make a fuss, but came back a couple of times to address minor issues and concerns I had. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my neighbours and friends for an underpinning job.

John and his team do great work, on time, on budget. They have been excellent with follow up and have helped me out above and beyond the scope of the job. No contractor gets back to you faster than John. I interviewed many companies for this job and I settled on Maximum largely due to their great communication and straight forward attitude. These guys are an expert, family run, east end company. They absolutely stand by their work.

My experience with Maximum was great. The owner, John, takes the time to fully explain every detail, and is always quick to respond on any calls or emails. Jesse and the crew were also incredible to work with, and quick to sort through any concerns or questions I had. They showed up every morning on time. They cleaned up every day and were very respectful to my family and neighbours. They hit the timelines and came in on budget. Amazingly, many contractors do not even fulfill these basic requirements. These guys go above them, and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to do this type of project.

We decided to dig out the basement of our 100 year old home in East York. We couldn't have been happier with John and Maximum General Contracting. They started the job within 6 weeks of contacting them. They were on time and on budget. The underpinning and benching passed all the inspections. Most importantly John and his crew were friendly and great to work with. I would hire them again for any work in the future.

Maximum General Contracting was highly recommended by a work colleague and we are very glad to have selected Maximum. John, the owner of Maximum, was a pleasure to deal with. The work that his men did in digging out and underpinning our basement was first-rate. We had no concerns during the process. The work was done on time. The other contractors who have inspected the work when bidding on the finishing work have said that the underpinning job was well done, including the quality of the concrete floor. Maximum carries all necessary insurance and workers' comp and is willing to guarantee the quality of its workmanship and its waterproofing work. Great company. Thanks to their great professionalism and consistent good nature. They dug out 8 large dumpsters of earth in the depths of January winter in 2013. My house was kept warm and clean. I would recommend John and his team to anyone. Underpinning a house is somewhat stressful (especially when you see the holes under your house), but John promptly (and patiently) answered all of my questions. We interviewed a few contractors for this job, and John's pricing was very fair. MGC's work was great and we got along with all of his team so well, that we continue to use them for other jobs on the house. Our only regret was not getting them to do the "finishing" of our basement. I would rather have kept them on throughout, but we were committed to a different contractor for that portion. Besides hiring them for new jobs, we have had them fix some of the other contractor's "work" too. You can't go wrong hiring John and his team. Prompt, reliable, trustworthy, patient, fair.

We had the best possible experience with John and his crew. I cannot recommend them enough. Not only was their quote the most reasonable, the work also started on time and they finished on time as well. The crew was also very respectful and went out of their way to keep our yard and house clean (not an easy feat during such a messy job). They also kept us well informed throughout the process and met every deadline they proposed. And our basement now has 8 ft ceilngs, as promised! I would highly recommend Maximum General Contracting to anyone looking to lower their basement.
