I hired John and his crew to underpin my basement. I was cautious to make sure that I hired the right team given how important the process is to the structure of the overall house. They worked extremely hard and did a great job. I had asked for a few references and visited a few basements before proceeding and all of the reviews were positive. Without question, John is fair with his pricing and I would hire them again.

My wife and I received many quotes and finally decided to go with Maximum. We are very glad that we did. John is very professional and was able to complete the work as per our engineers drawings on schedule and on budget. We highly recommend Maximum to anyone looking for quality at an affordable price.

We had quotes from every major underpinning company in Toronto while my wife was on maternity leave (she had the time to meet them all, so why not). John's quote was very reasonable in comparison to the others. But more importantly, John seemed the most personable, listened to our concerns, communicated throughout the process and provided solid feedback based on his experience. This is why we ultimately went ahead with Maximum. And we're EXTREMELY happy we did. Before we began, John set the appropriate expectations for a job like this - budget, timing, duration of work, future floor layout, plumbing considerations, etc. And he lived up to all of them. His crew (who are a great group of guys) started right on time, they coordinated building permits, bins, inspections, and cleanup. From our end, John took care of it all and came in on time and on budget. There were a few add-ons we decided to move forward with along the way but John's quotes were all reasonable. It's a messy job but every day they cleaned up the dirt and swept and hosed our driveway. Even our neighbours (with whom we share the driveway) were very impressed and commented on the minimal disturbance. I highly recommend John and wouldn't hesitate for a moment to provide a reference and comment on our experience.

We shopped around and John was by far the most experienced at underpinning. We checked his long list of previous customers, who had underpinning or other major construction done, and they were all consistently very satisfied with his work. His quote was quite reasonable, and the job came in on budget. Any extra work we had John do was also reasonably costed out and done on time and on budget. He and his crew showed up when they said they were going to and were here every day until the job was done. John worked well with our engineer and the City to make sure everything went smoothly. John was also very helpful getting us other tradespeople for our house. We have recommended him to others and he has always done a great job for them. We do not hesitate recommending John for any major construction work.

John and his crew from Maximum General Contracting were prompt and courteous when they came to repair the crumbling foundation of my new (very old!) house. I really appreciated that they took great care to make sure the job was done to my satisfaction and I am very happy with everything that they did. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing foundation repair.

I have dealt with only a few contractors as a home owner, but from what I have seen, few have a heart of gold like John. He is honest, hard-working and considerate, and I felt that he genuinely wanted me to be satisfied with the job. His crew are all very hard-working and honest as well. I have no qualms recommending John to anyone looking to get their basement lowered since it is what he has been doing for years and is his specialty. Despite many problems (particularly with a neigbour dispute), John was never daunted and was helpful in trying to find resolution and ensure that the job was finished in as timely a manner as possible without compromising quality or safety. I felt the need to write about the exceptional work John and his team (Maximum General Contracting) have done for us. I know how difficult it is to choose someone reliable, affordable and punctual. I got exactly what I asked for and in a timely fashion! The work Maximum did was professional and exceeded our expectations. The best part of it all was we had no headaches....we told them what we wanted and didn't have to micro manage the job to make sure things were going as planned. We were contemplating what to do with our basement since we moved in 3 years ago. We were thinking of just regrading the floor as it was and repouring which would only had given us just over 6 ft. clearance. We had a few companies over and then we met John from Maximum G.C. He was very honest and upfront about what we should do with our money being spent. He explained that if we were to do a major project like this, then spend that little bit extra and have a real basement that we can use as actual living space. We decided to go with the lowering by ways of benching around the foundation walls and taking it down a foot. Wow, are we ever glad we made the right decision. I'm 6'5 and very comfortable now walking around my basement. All in all, John and his crew were all very pleasant and knew what they were doing at all times.
