    Moving

Quoted us $3200. Charged us $8200. Said our belongings (which were probably close to 6000lbs) weighed 11,250lbs! Would not let me witness the weight. The truck had someone else's belongings when they picked up ours, but there is nothing showing that on any invoices or receipts? They treat you like scum, yell at you, threaten you and even hang up on you. Stay away. Stay FAR away. EDIT: They say that I tried to profit by having discounts applied to me? Never happened, complete blatant un-truth. AND, I did get my belongings weighed. 7300lbs! Yep, not even close to 11250 that they charged us for on this invoice. So, technically, that "discount" they gave us? Not a discount at all, only brought the price closer to what it SHOULD have LEGALLY been in the first place. Who's being dishonest here??? Whatever response they post to these reviews are nothing but dishonest responses. The high number of poor reviews speak for themselves. Check the BBB! Ranked #5 for complaints against. Nothing else needs to be said.

    Answer from pro:

This customer's company was paying for the move and he was separately trying to profit from that by having "refunds and discounts" applied directly to him. Our moves generally do include multiple pick ups/deliveries...that is how moving companies work. However, the weights are done individually, with recourse to order a rescaling if challenges are presented. This customer presented a much different scenario in obtaining a sight unseen estimate than what he actually presented at the pick up. Customers getting quotes for their company paid move will sometimes do that...as the company establishes limits, the customers will try to work within that but often don't present the move in an honest, transparent fashion. As a result, when they have completely underestimated things at presentation of their move to stay in good standing with employers who want to keep costs low, that obviously also results in a low estimate from our end...we rely on good, solid information to provide a reliable estimate. This customer ordered a delivery, agreed to payment then when the goods were en route to him, back pedaled on that in knowing that his company would resist the higher amount involved in his move (with a significant discrepancy in volume). He then refused to pay, creating problems for all the other customers loaded into that truck...in fairness to them and in trying to keep to our schedule, we had to unload the goods into storage in the middle of nowhere, covering all costs for that. In order to resolve this issue with incurring a very large storage bill. we provided a $1200 discount in order to get the move finalized. Although stories are shared of movers holding goods hostage, moving companies experience this feeling when customers order services, those services are performed and there is refusal to pay for them. It really leaves movers between a rock and hard place as schedules are impacted and they are forced to come up with solutions that include extra work and expenses as a result. There are always two sides to every story, and this story was that the move was MUCH larger than presented to both our company and the employer footing the bill.

    Vega Line Moving Company

Horrible Moving Experience. Just read all of the other 0 star reviews and you will have my story. They seemed very professional until they loaded my stuff in the truck. My belongings came damaged and a month later. I was charged well over my initial estimate. When I called to inquire about my things I was continually promised that my stuff would be there very soon even though they had no idea were my stuff actually was and no way of finding out. It seems like the operators will say anything just to get you off the phone. Avoid this company like the plague. There is a reason they have a lot of 0 star reviews. I wish I would have read these reviews before I contacted this terrible company. I have a feeling Vega Line is writing their own 10 Star reviews.

    Answer from pro:

We understand that customers feel like they're in limbo and helpless when they don't know the "status" of their items. However, we tend to focus our energies on actually being actively involved in the process vs engaging in updates. We establish timelines that items will be in transit and, beyond that, our first update is as the goods are arriving in the loading bay at the destination point. This is the most efficient way to provide service, as we know that people are also "on the move" during their move and establishing contact isn't always easy. It's not a matter of "not knowing" where items are, it's a matter of waiting for that update that "items are arriving" and ready for delivery. In attempting to avoid time consuming "telephone tag" situations, we find this to be the most effective method and apology if it created any worry!

    Excellent Service

The movers did an outstanding job with the move. They pack all items perfect to avoid any damage. The guys were on time. Smooth process & good customer service. We got much help in reducing our stress levels. They explained process in detail. We will be gladly to refer to a friend and will use company again for my personal use. Great job Vega Line!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you, Bryan....we truly do appreciate the kind words as this can be a thankless business at times. Moving is a stressful period for some, as they become exhausted with the process...often attending to jobs and children and then having to attend to the details of a relocation at the end of the day. Our aim is to provide all the details in order to help eliminate some of the stress associated with time constraints and pressing timelines of moving across the country. Our team has been in place for some time and understand the in's and out's of the job...it is part of their duty to make things as smooth and comfortable as possible. With that, we're glad to hear that this was the case for you...we will be happy to help your friends move as well!! :)

    Long Distance Move

PLEASE DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!! This company does a great job of pretending to be professional when booking your move, then when they don't deliver on time, trash your personal possessions, lose your items and try and convince you to take someone else's items. They charge you over double the quote and then leave you helpless, make you pay before they will unload your items. Their claims department pretends like they will help you and offer you $100 for the $10,000 worth of furniture/items they lost. When you call, they don't remember who their manager is and will not let you speak to anyone else.

    Answer from pro:

This is very suspicious and, honestly, false. I can state quite emphatically that all managers are available, however, it isn't a matter of not "remembering" who they are...it's a matter of making sure you get directed to the right department/one. We are sorry if you were having trouble with that. You see, we have an accounts and billing manager, an operations manager, a dispatch manager, a sales manager, and a customer service manager. So, depending on what your issue was, we'd have to pinpoint that in order to determine who could best serve you. I can also say with all honesty, we've never in our history "lost $10,000 worth of items". And we'd suspect there'd be follow up more serious than an online review if that were the case. So please, be specific (and truthful). :) We would be happy to assist you but first, you must identify exactly what the issues are in order to do so.

    moving from vancouver to calgary

Vega lines picked up our stuff today from Vancouver and the truck driver was telling my husband to prepare $ 5,000.00 for the moving cost. The estimate amount for the move is $1300.00. How can the price be tripled since they had to visit the house for the estimate. Please advise, don't have this amount. If I had known to cost this much I did use my other options.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Risa...is it possible to pass along your order number for review? This doesn't sound right and we'll be sure to attend to it after confirming your work order. :)

    Moving from Winnipeg to Toronto

I hired this company to move one bedroom and one living room and 5 boxes from Winnipeg to Toronto, and here the series for mischievous/fiascos they commited: 1.For the weight, they almost doubled the actual weight, they claimed that my small 2 rooms are 2500 lbs!! 2. For the additinal unapproved cost: $250 unapproved packing material and $80 undeclared fees because I paid by credit card 3. Scratches on my furniture, lost screws 4. They insist that I have to pay first before inspect my items 5. Claim department just evasive and argue with no logic, they even said that the agreement is with my daughter, not with me, although my daughter is a minor! 6. Movers refused to assemble the bedroom, although the agreement is to diassemble and assemble 6. Bottom line, I'll sue this company, but I have also to leave a feedback at every possible site to warn about this fraudulent company!

    Answer from pro:

This person provided a (minor) daughter's information when booking a move, then tried, relentlessly, to collect money for a non existent claim under a different name. He reported that he was missing a chair, however, that was quickly determined to be untrue as he "found" the chair. He was actually filing a claim before even unpacking his goods, which is highly inappropriate and hints at an agenda. His weight is very much line with a 2 bedroom home (2500 lbs)- nothing abnormal there and the "undeclared" fees were nothing of the sort - our payment options are clearly written in highlighted bold red font as "we accept money orders, certified cheques, cash" only. If customers insist on using credit cards, we will facilitate this mode of payment, however, there is a 3% processing fee as a result and this is no secret. The contract also clearly states: "driver must collect payment at delivery" and this is in place to protect drivers against "deliver and dash" situations that puts them at risk. The customer was provided with all this information and actually signed in acceptance of it prior to the shipping of his goods. There was absolutely nothing fraudulently done here, except perhaps in the misrepresentation by the customer in providing a name that was not his own and allowing his under age daughter to be involved if he had not wanted her to be - that was his doing. We simply booked this move based on the information provided to us, with no reason to challenge that. This was an attempt, from the onset, to file a false claim and we are addressing it in court. Please do not be swayed by this - we will also consider slander/libel as part of our case.

Moving from Ontario to Nova Scotia

This was absolutely the worst service. I had no control as to when my furniture would be delivered as they mass ship items a couple of times a month. I had to wait weeks. I also ended up getting charged at least 500 dollars more than the original estimate for packaging, a stair fee and then I was charged for an extra month of storage. I was angered by the extra storage fee as I had requested my items be delivered earlier but they didn't have a shipment planned to my new city for several weeks. *Also, they never gave me a 24 or 48 hour warning for delivery arrival. I had to call them. The main company manager in Vancouver was not a nice gentleman and it was difficult to have a conversation with him. It took way too much trouble and time over the phone and there were way to many hidden fees that they don't tell you about during initial booking. I'm not a complainer unless I strongly believe that the customer service was unjust or just plain poor.

    Answer from pro:

Steph, we do know you were angry, however, the situation was created when you failed to provide a delivery address at the time of booking. Until we receive updates, these moves are held in storage as part of the service offered. Then, when we are updated with an address, it goes into the next delivery cycle. Unfortunately, if a truck has just departed, you do have to wait for the next one to load/depart as NS is an outside area. We do apologize for that and have applied a $100 + tax discount (as you know). :) We wish you well.

    Move

the actual cost was more than double the free online estimate. when I asked why they said it is aonly an estimate. The guy on the phone got angry and shouted ant me saying that their is no way he could know how heay my stuff is ... a sofa can weigh 50 to 400 lbs. I did ask to be notified at scale time as my estimate was 800lbs and minimum weight was 1000lbs I wanted to add more stuff if I could. No one called me at weigh time to indicate that the load was way over the estimate so I can make adjuatments. My items came damaged (huge vase worth over $200 came in crumbs) , my walls floors of my brand new home has been severly scratched and damaged. Professional movers walked on brand new carpets with shoes from outside even though I asked them to place blankets. Driver got angry when I told hime I could not sigh a form indicating that I received all my goods in good order. I just filed a claim and will await to see if Customer service os of the same mentality and the feild staff.

    Answer from pro:

Dear Leila: Unfortunately, we don't offer a "weigh as you go" service that allows for addition/subtraction from the load during the process. Although that would be ideal, we simply aren't set up for that and it requires a lot of extra handling. Just as you can't go to the scales at the checkout in the supermarket and have them weigh/remove fruit until you get the amount you want, the same applies here. When dealing in entire households, we offer pick up, transport and delivery services based upon weights but it is a one time weighing only (unless a rescaling is requested/in order). It is true that, unless you allow for us to come and perform a free in home estimate which we'd be more than happy to accommodate, we really have only very rough ideas of your weight based on industry averages only. As sofas DO vary in construction and, therefore, weight, we simply can't be precise until we actually reach the scales. This is a good reminder to customers to ask exactly what the services include BEFORE booking the move....as, in this case, it could have eliminated any doubt/confusion for you. We simply can't "weigh until you get it right"....we pick up, weigh, ship and deliver. We are truly sorry you misunderstood that.

    Wonderful Moving Experience with Vegaline

What a great moving company! We contracted our move from Richmond Hill,ON to Vancouver,BC with Vegaline Moving company. At the beginning me and my wife was really stressed out.5.000 km,what if something happen to our furniture(almost everything was new),what if we can't get the delivery on time? But this guys did a great job! On the day of the move , they arrived on time.Movers came prepare with protectors, runners, mattress protectors, tools and everything to load the truck with our stuff, it was clean and organize. There were no problems. They had good attitude and were very efficient. On the new home in Vancouver we got into a very rainy day, but still they made all the efforts to protect the carpet and floors from any damage, they unload, install, assemble and put everything as we requested and always with great spirit. I really appreciate their service and definitely would recommend them to anyone. If in a near future I have to move again for sure I will contact them again. The final price was the same that when Mark estimated the initial cost. Thanks to Vega line Moving and Storage for stress free move we had. I strongly recommend these guys if you have to move.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Aykiuut. We appreciate the feedback and the actual price reflecting the quote actually speaks to the fact that you likely prepared us well prior to our arrival...we thank customers when they provide good, accurate information and updates. We truly appreciate your business!
