    Chimney rebuild

The team from Straight up Masonry are currently here working on our chimney. Job is almost complete. So far it looks amazing! The two members here working on our chimney have been extremely pleasant. Most importantly they did a fantastic clean up job yesterday which was complimented by our neighbours who are frequently critical of contractors that come by in the neighbourhood. Hopefully we can get something figured out for our porch as well. Thank you. L&M

    Answer from pro:

Thank you fort he review... probably the first time we have got one while still on site... glad the neighbours are pleased... we like to try and keep everyone happy which is not always easy. Thanks Tony and Crystal.

    Exterior brickwork / chimney repair

Straight Up did an excellent job on all fronts. Their estimate was competitive which included a site visit where they took detailed pics to hi-light all the work they would do which they included in the estimate so there were no surprises or miscommunications. They even found some additional trouble spots that weren’t in my request. The crew that did the work were fast and friendly and finished ahead of original schedule. Totally satisfied customer here.

Thank you for the review Brian. The clearer we make the estimates the easier it is for all parties involved. Glad you are pleased with the work. Tony and Crystal.

    Chimney repair

In order for our chimney to be repaired and pointed the workers were not allowed to walk on our permanent, lightweight aluminum roof. Three estimates were received. The first estimate amounted to $4000 to repair four rows of brick and $8000 for scaffolding. The second estimate of $9,000 was based on using a pair of binoculars to examine the chimney while sitting in his car. His claimed the chimney needed complete replacement due to an unstable base. Both these estimates were outrageous with no satisfaction about roof protection! However the last estimate, from Straight Up Masonry was excellent - with roof assurances, needed repairs and cost! Using a custom built scaffolding, Tony replaced the corbeling along with a new chimney cap and pointed all necessary surfaces. Their work was superb!

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for great review. It was not the easiest of scaffold set up's but that doesn't mean the price has to be outrageous. All it took was some planning and the right people and we got it done no problem. Thanks for opportunity to work on this one. Tony, Crystal and the team.

    chimney rebuild

Just want to say that I am very satisfied with our chimney rebuild by Straight Up Masonry. The process was very simple and straight-forward, and for someone without much time it was very helpful to have a responsive team at Straight Up to get back to me quickly. They were up front about what was required, the timeline, etc. and when they completed the job everything was cleaned up afterward as if there was no construction done! Fantastic service all around and I'd be happy to recommend anytime. Thanks,

Amazing work. Great service. Definitely recommend.

The brick column supporting the front porch of my house was on a lean when I bought the house, with the wood beam on the opposite lean supporting the porch roof. It was pretty precarious, to say the least. I hired StraightUp Masonry to dig out the column, put in a footer and rebuild it to match the original bricking. They also installed 2 limestone slabs and new cedar posts on both columns. Tony and his crew were absolutely amazing. Very courteous, cleaned up everything afterward, and even repointed some of the brickwork above my front door. Definitely recommend these guys. Photo below of new brick column going in.

    Brick repair

For some time, every time we had a heavy rain, I would find wap vvter in my basement, but not on the floor. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out where the water was coming from. We have also had some brick damage to the south side of our house, but this winter the damage looked to be severe. We heard about Straight Up Masonry through a few recommendations on FaceBook and called for an estimate. The contractor came to our house within a couple of days and explained exactly what needed to be done and also that these repairs would stop the mysterious water in the house. We received an estimate the next day, and within the next 10 days, the workmen arrived and the job was done in less than a day. The work looks great and all the people we dealt with from the office to the jobsite were friendly, knowledgable and professional. I would recommend these folks to anyone needing this kind of repair.

    Tuck pointing

Estimate sent with highlighted photos of repair areas being quoted. Work done ahead of schedule. Great crew. Good natured about my dog eating part of a crew member's lunch :)

    Chimney removal

We were very happy with our recent experience working with Straight Up Masonry. We needed to have an old chimney removed that ran through the middle of our house within the walls. Tony and his team were able to work with the other contractors we were using to accomodate us at the time we needed the work done. They were very efficient and were careful not to damage any of the contents of our house. The team members were all pleasent to have around and they carefully cleaned up after themselves and left the work area safe and clean for our young children to be around. We will definitely have them back again for any other masonry jobs we have. They were true to their quote (which was very reasonable) and the service was excellent.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Guys for not only the business but allowing us to come on short notice to get this done. Best of luck with the rest of the Reno Thanks Tony and Crystal.
