We had our basement and bathroom renovated in March 2014. As with all home owners, (and this also being our first major renovation) we were weary of the contractors out there as we have heard all about the bad experiences others have had. We relied heavily on HomeStars’ reviews to find us the right contractor. We shortlisted 4 contractors (all from HomeStars) to give us a quote and here are a few reasons why we chose JConstruction and Renovations for our project. Quote – It was the best price based on work involved. You will notice that each contractor has different expectations on what they will and will not do within their quote. Customer Service – Excellent! From the get go, John was quick to get back to us on our inquiry. In fact when I sent him an email requesting a quote, I got a call from John right away. He was upfront with me as to when he was able to take on another project. As we were not in a rush, we were willing to wait to work within his time frame. Quote was December 2013, work started in March 2014. John is a” hands on” contractor. He worked with his crew every day. He is part of the team! We were pleasantly surprise that he was there working with his team every day when they were here. Work Ethics – Awesome! John and his core crew (Anna and Brandon) made a great team. They work well, took pride in their work. They were punctual, hard working, and diligent. Always making sure that the work area is kept clean every day. Even at demolition stage they will cart the bin away every day. It is very consistent to all the positive reviews they had on HomeStars. Communication – Excellent! If there were any concerns, John is always reachable and assessable when he is working on the project. Because he is on site every day, pretty much nothing is lost in translation/interpretation. Ease of working – Great! You will find that John, not only is he knowledgeable, he is amiable. He made our renovation experience as stress free as possible. Going above – Kudos! The major renovation went smoothly and as planned, it took them 4 weeks in total to complete the basement and washroom. We had a major delay on the vanity for the washroom, because of quality control issues with the supplier, and even though it was not John’s responsibility to follow up on the delay, John personally took it upon himself to go the extra mile with the store (we bought it from a big box store) on our behalf! Again a big thank you on this one, John! Results – Amazing! Basement and washroom came out great and as what we had envisioned. It was also on budget as to what he originally quoted. We had certain upgrades that we wanted to get along the way and we knew that would be additional cost at our end. Overall, we could not have been more pleased to have chosen JConstruction and Renovations to work with us on our project. If you are like us, no experience with dealing with a contractor and want to deal with someone that you can depend on and trust, at least have John from JConstruction and Renovations on your shortlist to consider and you will definitely notice the difference!

In January, I had 2 pipes burst in my ensuite bathroom. This couldn't have happened at a worse time as I had begun the process of getting my house ready for sale (I'm moving out of province to join my husband where he is working). Since time was of the essence, I decided to find my own contractor & not go with the company provided by my insurance adjuster as I was concerned the repairs would not be done in a timely manner. This was my first renovation & I was nervous in hiring someone since you hear so many horror stories about contractors (I watch Mike Holmes). I found JConstruction ("JC") on Homestars & after reading the positive reviews, I called John. I explained to John my situation & despite his very busy schedule, John made time to come and examine the damage. John was honest, professional, & very knowledgeable. He assured me that he would manage the job from start to finish & that he & his crew would be at my house every day until the job was done. John, Anna & Brandon were amazing! They were always punctual, diligent, courteous, detail-oriented, personable, & cleaned up before leaving every day. John has a passion for what he does & takes a lot of pride in his work. He wants to make sure the job is done right! The end result is that John delivered on his promise to provide quality work, excellent customer service, & getting the job done in a timely manner. He even sent me an email a few weeks later as a follow up on everything & making sure all is good. I love my new bathroom & will enjoy it for the next few months before I move. If I could take John & his crew with me to do any future renos, I definitely would! I highly recommend JC Construction & Renovations Inc. to my family, friends, & to anyone looking for an excellent contractor! THANK YOU John, Anna & Brandon. Can't rave enough how amazing my kitchen reno turned out! After inquiring with 3 different contractors, I chose JConstruction and Renovation Inc., because John was positive, knowledgeable, and professional. Once work started, I was so amazed with the work skills his crew had in regards to, punctuality, helpfulness, neat, attention to detail, and cleanness of the work environment. John and his crew provided excellent service. I would definitely use their services again and have highly recommend them to my family/friends. Thanks for making my families Reno experience delightful.

John & his crew were very easy to deal with since we first contacted him. Our bathroom reno was completed in a timely manner and we are more than happy with the outcome. John was able to provide us with some great ideas that made our bathroom look outstanding. I would definitely recommend J Construction!

I contacted John at J Construction because I was in a jam. I had a previous contractor make promises they could not keep regarding budget and schedule of project =, and was forced to fire them. I had two weeks to start and finish 13 kitchens. John and his crew came in and saved the day. They finished ahead of schedule and on budget. They were extremely courteous and professional and did not cut any corners. John is an excellent contractor, and does really nice work. I stand behind my recommendation for his services.

We had a major flood in our basement due to the "great" summer flood of 2013. Because my mom lives in the basement we needed the basement completed ASAP. We received 5 quotes and timelines, and all though John and his crew were not able to start until the fall we felt most comfortable with him...as though we knew him for years! He was friendly, professional and honest. He takes pride in his work but is not cocky. Work began the 1st week of November and was finished exactly on time (4 weeks total). John always answered my calls/texts no matter what time or day and everyday he kept me posted on the progress while I was at work. John went the extra mile with EVERYTHING to ensure things were done the right way, not the fast/easy way. Any "extras" were communicated to me first and quoted reasonably. We were on a tight schedule and even tighter budget and he stayed on course the whole way through! I loved coming home and finding something new that was completed. The crew kept everything tidy and as clean as possible. The end project was simply 1 word... "AMAZING"! There is absolutely no other word to describe it. We gained 2 extra feet in the laundry room, a larger bedroom and extra wall space due to excellent planning. We had a new staircase installed (thank you thank you!!!) and chose laminate for flooring. We knew how difficult it was going to be to match staining to laminate (next to impossible)....but John did it! A beautiful match as if both the floor and stairs were stained together! John... a HUGE Thank you to you and your crew! You will be our "go to guy" for every future project!

We hired Jconstruction and Renovations for our basement construction/renovation project. We just moved into a new home and needed to complete the basement right away and Jconstruction was referred to us by a friend. We had gone to take a look at their work and were satisfied with their quality, and went ahead. From the start, John and his crew (Anna and Brandon, esp.) have been absolutely wonderful to work with. They are extremely professional and polite and very conscientious about their work and work site. Never did I feel that our basement was unsafe to walk in, or messy - John and his staff were meticulous about keeping the worksite safe and clean (this is especially important when you have young children). Every morning, John and his crew arrived together and worked straight through the day. John is a hands-on contractor and worked along side his crew which meant everything was being supervised. This is important since you hire someone based on their expertise, not their staff's expertise. He is not just "project-managing" but actually building. Our project took a fair bit of time due to the size of the basement and the details. John has gone above and beyond what most contractors do. Since our home was a new build there were several builder related problems which needed to be addressed before the basement could be completed. We would have had to wait for the 1 year warranty period for the builder to even look at these issues, however, John fixed these issues as he encountered them, as part of his own project. Things like incorrect plumbing, or holes in the vent, and crossed pipes (serious issues which affect the efficiency and quality of the home) were taken care of so we wouldn't have further problems. The quality of John's workmanship is outstanding - our bathrooms and kitchen look wonderful. I will be posting pictures by next week so people can get an idea of his work. Problems or issues that I pointed out or things that I wasn't completely happy with, John fixed right away, so that I would be pleased. In most cases, issues that I pointed out were issues that he had identified already. We are very proud of how our basement turned out. John is by no means the cheapest or least expensive alternative, however, after interviewing other contractors in our neighbourhood, we found that he is priced fairly close to what other reputable contractors would charge. He is also a very easy-going guy to work with which makes the renovation process a little bit more bearable. We have been very satisfied with John's work - we would hire him again and strongly recommend him to our friends. John is reliable and when you need help, he is always just a phone call away. He makes time to come and see your issues and always finds the "right" solution, not the easy, quick-fix solution. We have had numerous small jobs completed in our home in addition to the basement, while John was here (bathroom spa jets added to ensuite shower, family room waffle ceilings built) and John made time to have these done on a timely basis. Well done John, Anna and Brandon!! We appreciate all your work.

John and his crew did an amazing job in a short period of time on a small budget. They were very professional and on time everyday. They took a very traditional bathroom and turned it into a modern, stylish spa. I highly recommend him and his crew to any reno job that you may be thinking of!!!

This was the first major renovation that we have done to our 5 year old home. We had several contractors, approximately 5 or 6, quote us to finish our basement. John's quote was not only reasonable, but he was also very patient and did not pressure us to decide one way or the other. Once the project began, we noticed how punctual John was and how he took pride in his work. He was very meticulous with his craftsmanship and was careful to clean up after himself at the end of every day. John was very honest about what would work and what wouldn't, and how best to maximize our space. He was happy to answer any questions that we had throughout the renovations, even after hours. It took 4 1/2 weeks to finish the project and we could not be happier with the end result. We would highly recommend John and his crew for any job.

We hired Jconstruction to finish our basement. This being our first major renovation we were extremely nervous and apprehensive about hiring the right contractor. After getting quotes from 4-5 different contractors we went with John from Jconstruction because of his attention to detail. He went over and above to make sure that the project was done right. John and his team were always very professional and very conscious about keeping dust to a minimum. I would recommend Jconstruction to family and friends and will definitely hire them for our next renovation.
