    Kitchen/Bathroom Reno

My husband and I had an idea of what we envisioned our next home to be. We bought a house with great potential but needed to renovate it to bring it to date and to become what we wanted it to be. We were very lucky to have found John and his team-Luis and Anna. They were very professional, laying drop clothes wherever they worked, closing off areas to contain dust, and maintaining a good work schedule/timeline. John cares about his work and maintains what he can to ensure a solid end result. John and team were always very personable and a pleasure to work with as my husband and I discussed different ideas with them about what we envisioned. And a noteworthy mention is how they all showed their good nature around my children as my kids became accustomed to seeing them every day as well. John helped create a home that we are proud to live in! I cannot wait to complete a few more projects with him! Jon's work is not cheap but you definitely get what you pay for - peace of mind! Thank you John, Luis and Anna for a job well done!

    Basement Reno

John and his crew transformed my basement from an unfinished space full of ducts and support poles to a bright spacious place with a beautiful media room, bar, kids' play area, and a washroom. John drew up a thorough estimate for us, and worked within our budget. We did walkthroughs regularly, and John was very good about keeping me informed and making sure he understood what I wanted. John, Anna, and Luis were in my home almost every day for 2 months - they were always respectful of my family and my home, and I'm very pleased with the work they did. John walked me through our options when we had to make tough decisions, and was tolerant of me changing my mind a few times about how I wanted things done. John and his crew take a lot of pride in their work and I never had to worry about them cutting corners. I would definitely recommend JConstruction to my friends and family and I would hire them for future jobs in my home without hesitation.

Basement Finishing, arts and crafts Shop

Hi John, I wanted to thank you for renovating my basement. I enjoyed seeing you, Luis and Anna every morning. Slowly I am moving things into place and hope to have my garage clear of the things that were stored there from the basement. Your attention to detail was very impressive and your solutions to my ideas were much appreciated. I can now enjoy getting back to doing the things that I enjoy doing like sewing. I have a new, bright and large area to work in. Just know I really appreciate the work you and your crew have done for me and I will keep in touch if I have any further projects. Thanks, Karen

    Dry Wall & Plumbing Repair

When you buy a house you are already in a tight budget- on top of it with an older house there is always more expenses- few work can't be DIY as needs more professional attention. A month into our new home we were terriified to see a water leakage from our drywall which was coming from the bathroom upstairs- at first look, it seemed like shower needs to be taken off and put new one in - but John with his expertise figured out it was not the shower rather a water pipe that was leaking- very professionally got it fixed. His team is phenomenal and extremely helpful. The other guy that did most of the drywall repair "Lewis" is a real genuine guy he was very nice and helpful gave me few tips to maintain the house. Jconstruction is definately not the cheapest in the block but a job done by them is a job weldone. I would certaonly recommend Jconstruction for any renovation work

    Basement Renovation

About 5 years ago, I bought a house that needed some TLC (1970’s décor). I was very optimistic and a true believer in DIY (do it yourself), and decided to take on a few projects with my partner. After much “research” on the internet, multiple trips to stores, hundreds of dollars spent on equipment we didn’t know how to use, and quite a few failed attempts, we decided the stress was getting to us and we just didn’t have the skills and patience to renovate on our own. A friend of ours who had just had her entire basement renovated and was extremely happy with the results, recommended JConstruction. We were very hesitant at first, considering the horror stories we have heard about some contractors. After seeing our friend's immaculate basement, and the immense praise she gave for JConstruction, we decided to contact this company to tile a large part of our own basement floor. From the minute I spoke on the phone with John, I felt assured that his company was trustworthy and cared about my project. John came to our home and provided us with a quote. He was polite, friendly, and knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions. He gave suggestions on tile selection, along with ideas for future projects that met our budget and lifestyle. We decided to go with him. From day one, John and his crew were true professionals. They helped us move our contents and furniture, protected our home with drop sheets and mats, and left the area clean and tidy after each day. They worked diligently and paid attention to details. When I called for updates, John was always available to speak with me. The floor is finished and we are very satisfied with the results. We feel so confident about their work that we have hired JConstruction to finish the rest of our home. John, we thank you and your crew for doing such a wonderful job and for helping us regain our confidence (and sanity) during this process. I recommend JConstruction to anyone who is looking to improve their home. Thanks again guys, and see you soon!

Basement Windows -- enlarged 3 windows, to double in size

John and his team worked on enlarging 3 of our basement windows, as the builder's windows on our level lot were very small i.e. about 11 inches tall. John did an excellent job with the windows, doubling them in length, so our basement is now remarkably brighter. The entire project took less than 2 full days, which was a bonus. They used drop sheets to contain whatever dust may have resulted from cutting through the foundation walls and worked very cleanly. The Energy-Star windows John installed are a huge improvement upon the builder's original windows. We'd absolutely recommend JConstruction to anyone without hesitation. John and his crew are cheerful and friendly, just super to work with. Thank you JConstruction for great service at a reasonable price.

    First floor renovation

We hired Jconstruction for a first floor renovation including a major kitchen renovation. The work was good, except the floor. We used 24x24 travertine tiles. They are all not level and there are seams that catch our toes all the time. They didn't feel that was an issue. Problem is that when it came time to do the trim, the cost jumped by 50% because "Trim has gone up in cost over the last 6 months". We asked for a detailed quote for the trim. It came n 50% higher then others we felt compeled to get. Since then we have not heard at all from John. We have cracked tiles, non sealed up vent holes, etc. that would be taken care of immediately. It is now 16 MONTHS into this reno and not a peep. Great guys, but terrible followup. Buyer beware.

    Answer from pro:

Good morning Tood, I have to say that i am a bit despointed with this review..we had a great relationship..Now if i recall clearly we did install your floor and crack on ONE tile you showed me in the entrance to the kitchen is not all of them ...that was your only complaint witch is due to settelment and is normal due to the size of this tiles and if i RECALL correctly I stated that we would fix it when we would do the trim. the quote was given to you and you ask me to wait for the trim install to be completed...the price went up because other things were added..like archways and doors that I do not get for free , also style of trim varies in price.and todd it took a long time for you guys to make a final desicion....As you see here my reviews are great and I do follow up on things. Where are those so called other estimates that are 50% less then me? I dont recall getting them ..and don't recall getting any phone calls regarding an appointment to do the tile repair. I have gonne beyond in your reno and I help people all the time... It is none the less strange that you would wait 16 months like you said to write this complaint...one thing is to want work to be done as cheap as possible ..the other is to write such a review because you didn't like my quote.. I am truly sorry that is the way you feel...but none the less we enjoyed working at your house and look forward to work with you in the future... Regards John Teixeira JCONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATIONS INC.

John and his wonderful crew have transformed our cold, unfinished basement into an incredibly beautiful, functional and inviting space. We are beyond thrilled with the finished product and will be spending a lot of time in our new basement! John is a rarity -- extremely honest, very knowledgeable, greatly skilled, meticulous with every last detail and always ready to help. He always has immense patience when answering our many many questions and has made several great suggestions with regard to every aspect of the layout, finishes etc. The quality of construction and finishes has been outstanding. John and his crew ensured everything was perfect, every day. They have always been punctual, extremely tidy and very respectful of our family and our home. Everyone who has visited our home has been wowed by our newly-finished basement. Their stonework surrounding the fireplace and home theatre wall and built-ins is exceptional and very intricate. John did a perfect tiling job in our washroom, it looks even better than we had imagined. John, Luis and Anna are like family to us and we would hire JConstruction again in a heartbeat and have booked our next project with John this summer. Thanks John! You guys are the best.

    Kitchen Renovation

John worked miracles with a "custom kitchen" when we provided him with some stock cabinets and the majority of materials. His crew was was clean and friendly and went above and beyond what was expected, evening purchasing some missing materials. Will definitely contact John again for further jobs in the house! We love our new kitchen and we've been getting so many compliments about it!

Complete deconstruction and renovation of entire house (internal)

John and his team were complete professionals. Extremely courteous and very punctual. They delivered everything they said that they would on time and on budget. John worked with our vision and made recommendations to meet our goal. The team worked very cleanly, there was never a mess - even though the house was gutted. John followed up post our re-move in and even came back in to complete touch ups to the walls from moving dings. The experience was truly a positive one and we would highly recommend JConstruction to anyone. We are looking forward to working with John on our next home renovation project - scheduled for next year.
