Master Bedroom Addition and Renovation 800 sf of Tile flooring

We interviewed 3 contractors for both jobs done to our home, a Master Bedroom addition to our home and tear out and redo of 800sf tile floors . The first project was for a Master bedroom suite addition in 2011. We selected Trademark based on many factors, their initial visit with us, visits to their other projects and the method in which they communicate and conduct their business before, during and after. We were absent during the work and found their communication, standard of work, on time schedule AND budget, quality and clean up impeccable. We have been renovating homes for 20years on our own, this is the first time we hired a project manager and I will NEVER look back, worth every penny and then some. The second job, even though Trademark was our first go to bid we always make it a habit of getting three quotes for everything, it gives you peace of mind and ensure that trades are in line with costs etc. Once again Trademark was the clear front runner. I could go on and on but their repeat business with us and the recommendations we hand out speak for themselves. Even when over a year later we had an unfortunate accident of our own doing to one of the windows in our project Marc and the team handled the repair fast and efficiently without added costs to ourselves except the window itself. This to me shows the commitment to their projects and the people they serve, we aren't just a number with an invoice, they are invested in keeping those contacts long after the job is done and know the value of repeat business and referrals. I have had no complaints whatsoever, and they were very careful to dot the 'i's and cross the ' t's to ensure there was no room for error on anyone's part. I continue to be a supporter of Trademark and its people and will continue to recommend their services without hesitation.

Complete gut job of our duplex in Hillhurst.

Initially, we contacted two contractors for our project. Trademark offers a 10 per cent lower fee for a competing quote from another reputable builder. When I mentioned TradeMark to the competing company they rudely stated they would not compete with TradeMark. Before beginning the project, Mark introduced himself and gave his business card to the surrounding neighbours. We have some very particular neighbours and they were pleased with how courteous the contractors were. We were taking redesigning both the top and main floor. TradeMark recommended two designers, who worked together for the design of the new floor plan, and overall design function for the home. Together, they maximized the efficiency of our home. We are so very pleased with how much space was reclaimed for functionality. The project was delivered on time and within budget. The workmanship was top quality. It reminded me of a by-gone time when craftsman were true craftsman and took pride in their work. Our duplex needed so much work. We struggled for years to find another community that we would want to live. We simply did not want to move. There are so many horror stories about renovations and contractors. We are so very pleased that we stayed and had TradeMark do the work.

Thanks Sandra, I particularly like your comment about reminding you of a bygone era when craftsmen were true craftsmen and taking pride in their work. We are glad you felt that way as thats precisely what we strive to achieve. Thanks again for selecting Trademark Renovations to carry out your project, were arranging a photographer to update our website gallery pictures and will be in touch soon to discuss a photo shoot in your home.

    Full house reno 2012 - 2013

We contracted Trademark after evaluating a number of other approaches & companies. The fact that all payments are made directly to the trades & suppliers gave us peace of mind. The designer that Trademark suggested did a spectacular job of coming up with a new look for our 1974 Silver Springs home and at a very reasonable cost AND he was done in less than two weeks ! Mark was assigned as our project manager from the start and saw the project through to completion. His attention to detail was admirable and even got trades to redo work that I thought was adequate. I was allowed full access to the house during the project and so could meet the trades and discussed finer points or options and they made numerous valuable suggestions. The process Trademark use for budgeting and tracking expenses kept us completely up-to-date on a bi-weekly basis with ample opportunity to detect problems and have them corrected ( even after the project was completed and everybody was paid ! ). Mark's approach of "if I won't do it to my house I don't want to do it to your house" is not just words but a conviction that's carried throughout the project. It was immediately clear that Trademark attracts and retains the cream of the trade crop in Calgary and it shows in every step of the way. Their time estimate of 4 - 6 months was spot on even though we discovered asbestos in the old kitchen floor that had to be removed under strict environmental control which added almost two weeks. Any errors or corrections I needed done was dealt with quickly and minimum fuss even when we changed our minds mid construction ! In all our dealings with Trademark I found them to be very reasonable and approachable ( Mark even agreed to be the point person and provide trades people if I need them for maintenance work on a rental property while I was holidaying in Hawaii during Xmas! )

Full House gut and rebuild with footprint extension

Trademark did an amazing job of staying on budget with a very large renovation and did exceptional quality work, used excellent contractors, did not cut corners and involved us in exactly the way we wanted. The project was showcased in the Calgary Herald. We would not hesitate to hire Trademark again for a reno or a new property. Exceptional staff and big on customer service and satisfaction. Awesome.

Thanks Brian - Your home was a challenge and at the same time a really great project. Trades still talk about your fireplace and the ensuite bathroom being key designs they liked! We enjoyed working alongside you to provide you with the home you envisioned.

Full bungalow basement and main floor gut and redo

The contract said 4 months, and we finished in 4 months, with a few days to spare! Our renovation manager, Nancy, was nothing short of outstanding. Basically, if you pay them on time, they stay on time. You uphold your end of the deal and they over-deliver on their end. We liked our renovation so much that we re-hired Trademark to add a second floor to a house that we never intended on staying in forever. We thought the renovation was done perfectly and any issues that did pop up were taken care of promptly. Would I recommend this company? In fact I already have to a few of my colleagues who have spent big money but have ZERO regrets. They still thank me for referring them to Trademark to this day. As such, I am excited to start the our next renovation soon!

Thanks John for your positive feedback! All of us here at Trademark appreciate your comments and thank you for the pleasure of your business not once but TWICE! adding the 2nd and 3rd floor to your bungalow has made such a diference to the function of your home not to mention the curb appeal!

Main floor renovation icluding Kitchen and bathrooms

I wanted to say how satisfied and happy we were with Trademark Renovations and all of their team. Our project was started on time and completed within the time frame set out in the contract. All of the trades that came through our family home were polite and helpful and always wanted to do the best they could for us. The quality of workmanship was high and again all trades wanted the best end results for us. The budget provided was accurate and with the exceptions of the additional work we requested stayed on budget and to quotes provided. We particularly like the fact that we paid the trades direct at the volume discounts that we received due to Trademark discounted prices being given by the Trades. We also saved money on materials so that the management fee was substantially covered!! Thank you Trademark and your Team we have recommended you to all our friends and visitors who admire our transformed home!!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for your positive review and feedback. I will make sure to relay your comments to the team! Thanks very much for your referals as you know thats where 90% of our business comes from is happy customers like you who recognize the value and savings using our system.

    complete home renovations

We contracted Trademark due to their affiliation with Renomark. It was a complete disaster. We moved our young family out of the home and into a rental property. For nearly 4 months, our property sat empty - trades rarely showed. As per our contract, the project was to be completed within 6 months. It was finally completed after 1 year and only after Trademark was fired from the project and a new Contractor was brought in. During the process, Trademark disrespected our home - our tile in one bathroom was completely ruined due to workers with muddy boots using it and not putting down anything to protect it. Despite having signed contracts, some of the trades who Trademark used increased their prices by 50% of the signed contract price and then refused to complete the job or release the permit unless we paid the new price. One tradesperson working under Trademark took payment for bathroom fixtures then disappeared with the money and didn't provide us with our fixtures. We did contact Renomark and they refused to do anything about it as they say that they do not regulate their members - it is strictly a vehicle used as a marketing tool. We ended up terminating our contract with Trademark and found someone who is not a member of Renomark. This contractor was amazing - he finished the work on time and on budget and the quality was better than that of Trademark. Our new Contractor was disgusted by the garbage that he found had been thrown in our walls by Trademark and the poor quality of work that he had to end up fixing. Don't go with big name firms...find your Contractor through referrals! As an FYI, Trademark was found guilty (as of Mar8, 2011) on one or more code of ethics violations with the Canadian Homebuilders Association and with Renomark. As such their memberships are suspended. Mr. Foisey...well deserved.

    Answer from pro:

You Be The Judge To set the record straight; Steve in Calgary were in breach of contract by not complying with the payment terms. Approximately 1/2 way into the project, outstanding invoices were not being paid by Steve in Calgary after repeated requests. Trademark continued working in good faith until Steve was over 3 months in arrears and the amount he owed far exceeded his deposit. In making a prudent business decision, Trademark suspended work on the project until all arrears were brought current (which they never were). The writing was on the wall. There is always someone who will attempt to one up or scam a business thinking that it is ok. Thankfully that mentality is limited to the very few who lack integrity. Steve made a lot of noise, complaining to anyone who would listen. It all came to a head when he went to the BBB and filed a complaint. We entered into a binding arbitration hearing agreement through the BBB and were scheduled to go to the hearing. In the eleventh hour, Steve backed out, likely in anticipation of the outcome. Trademark wrote off the losses and chaulked it up to experience, a bad experience. These facts are all documented at the BBB and we would be more than happy to share the file with anyone who wishes. We can also put you in touch with the trades who can verify the sequence of events. In summary, if you are someone who would like something for free, intend to doup a business or get away without paying your bills like Steve in Calgary, then no, we are not the company for you. If you are a potential client who has respectable ethics, we are happy to do business with you and you can join our long list of proud happy customers who have helped make our outstanding reputation for quality, transparency and value, what it is today. So you be the judge... would you continue to go to work if your employer/customer hadn't paid you for over 3 months? In reference to the CHBA matter. It was an isolated incident which is currently under appeal. These people are friends of [names removed -ed] and like them, didn't pay their bills therefore work was stopped. [names removed -ed] have been coaching them in the background and attempting to use them to gain some sort of satisfaction because their own case had no legal or moral grounds. We entered the initial hearing with us going in ill prepared as we were told that the hearing would not address contractual issues, which it turned out it did. We did not attend with our evidence in hand proving non payment and breach of contract by the customer which we do have. We are appealing the decision and this time going in fully prepared. Legally, the CHBA should not have taken any action if any regarding membership until the appeal process has taken place. There will be consequences for such. In closing, we have a policy to halt a project should a customer breach the contract. In the matters before you, this is exactly what occured and we have evidence of such and are more than happy to share it with anyone who is interested. We are also happy to share a long list of happy clients who are eager to provide glowing reviews. Over 85% of our work comes by referrals which speaks for itself. We will keep you posted as things progress. Nice try Steve...
