After years of living with leaky gutter corners and old brown fascia that was fading and losing its colour, we were ready for new aluminum. We weren't certain if we wanted to just replace the old gutters and front fascia, or to replace the soffit, too. With all these questions in mind, we looked online to find the best aluminum contractor we could find. After many hours of online research, we narrowed it down to our top choice: Century Aluminum.
In early May 2024, we contacted Century Aluminum and spoke with Dora, who booked us for their estimator/contractor, Gary, to come here. When he arrived, we felt very comfortable with Gary right from the start, and we appreciated all his advice, and the fact that he was very low-pressure. Gary looked at our soffit and felt it was still in good shape and didn't need to be replaced, but agreed that "now would be the time," if we wanted to replace it, as well. He said the lead time for our project would be 3-4 weeks, and would likely be a 2-3 day job, depending on the scope of the project. While we tried to figure out our soffit and colour questions, we exchanged emails with Gary. We always found him to be very prompt with his replies, and patient.
Once we'd decided we wanted all our aluminum replaced and were committed to Century Aluminum, Gary returned here mid-May with colour samples and spent time with us, discussing which shade would make good final nominees. We gave him our down payment and (before we knew it) Dora was calling us on June 7th to ask if June 10th would be okay for Gary to start our project. We agreed, and so work began. We appreciated when it became a 3.5 day project, given the attention to detail Gary employed, as well as a few small repairs that needed to be done, prior to the aluminum and vinyl cladding.
Gary & his assistant, Dmytro, paid attention to more fine details than we had ever considered, and never once grumbled or complained. They arrived punctually every morning and cleaned up at the end of each day. Gary also always had time to listen to and address any questions we had during the process. We confess: We were both a bit anxious about what state the wood might be in, under the decades-old aluminum, but Gary always had a very calming presence, which we really appreciated. And as we were home all the time, we saw they were both hard-working, polite, patient, enjoyed their work, and didn't waste any time. We can give no higher praise!
Initially, we only hoped our house would be renewed and just look nice. We weren't prepared for how truly breathtaking it looked (to our eyes) when we stepped outside and saw it all after they had completed the front face! We wrote out the final cheque with smiles on our faces, as we feel it was money very well spent! Many neighbours have already commented on how great it looks now, and we must agree.
