Not what I had hoped for

Several years ago, I replaced the last two original single-pane windows in my house with Vinylbilt awning-style windows. I am completely happy with them, so last year I replaced four 25-year-old double-pane windows with Vinylbilt products. One was another awning-style, which is great. The other three are single-side-sliders. Big disappointment. While the glass (SSP) is great, the frames are not. They admit more air than the ones they replaced. When it's cold and windy, ice forms in the bottom corner of the fixed pane on the slider side. Air is coming in through the "seal" between the fixed and sliding panels. And in high winds and rain, water also migrates through into that corner. Definitely not what I expected from premium windows. I guess the upshot is, if you want efficiency, stick to awning or casement windows - Vinylbilt sliders do not perform well, regardless of their published test results. And, an added annoying thing - they only have right-hand locking tabs. If you want a left-hand-opening single-slider, they just turn the slider upside-down in the frame, so the locks are engaged when the tabs are up, not down. If you have a mix of right- and left-hand sliders, like I do, some are locked when the tabs are down, and some when they're up. Again, not what you'd expect from premium products.

    Windows Installation

Schedule problem: Have known this Platinum windows and doors company when I signed a contract with Rona in June 2018. After six months of waiting, they scheduled for the installation on December 7, 2018, I took a day off from work and waited for them to attend because they said it would be an only day available and Rona wanted to get all projects done before the New Year. On that day, at approximately 6am, I received a phone call from the owner of Platinum windows, namely Gus who advised me that they couldn’t make it because Vinylbilt didn’t open the door for them to get the windows, he then advised me that someone from his office will contact me for another schedule when it’s available. Also, he has promised me that Vinylbilt will pay me back $400 of my work hours as I took a day off and waited for them on that day, but I still haven’t received this $400 since December 07, 2018. I still keep his email. Three broken windows: On December 17, 2019, after the installation, I discovered 3 windows sustained damages and it took 3 months for a seal unit to attend and fixed these 3 windows. The wall in my living room also sustained several damages during the installation. Blinds issue: All existing blinds weren’t fit the new windows after the installation, due to all new windows smaller (1.5” to 2”) than the previous one. Although, they had stated that wouldn’t be an issue when they attended for the measurement before the installation. As a result, I won’t recommend this company to anyone.

Service call to repair cracked glass

We had over 25 triple glazed windows installed in 2018 as manufactured by Vinylbuilt Windows. We had two units fail due to a manufactures defect. The repair of these two units was flawless. The replacement units were ordered with their in house service department and delivered right on time and installed by two experienced technicians without issue. They were polite and thorough in their work. Very pleased with Vinylbuilt Windows tech support.

    Years of great service

I am a contractor and have installed hundred of Vinylbilt windows over the years. I have had the odd seal failure, but the local supplier has ordered new thermopanes and installed them for me. Other than that, I have had absolutely no problems with these windows. I installed new Vinylbilt windows in my own home 5 years ago with the solar-bond finish and they held up extremely well. The finish is as good as the day they were installed.

Poor qulaity and even worse customer service.

The window it self moved over half an inch within the frame when locked. It took 6 months for them to finally agree to send a tech out to inspect. the tech stated that it is a manufacturing fault and admitted that heat had been escaping from my home the entire time. Window installed Feb 2018. My daughters room was FREEZING. Before the tech came out the head office told me the windows breath. The other 2 windows installed work fine but are cheap plastic.

Hi Todd, I'm sorry to hear that it took 6 months before we agreed to come out and inspect the window. Would you be able to send me more details privately to marketing@vinylbilt.com so that I can investigate exactly what went on and how we can improve in the future? Thank you!

    Vinylbilt windows

Ordered windows from authorized dealer in Sault Ste. Marie. 12 weeks later the windows are still not manufactured. Dealer won’t return the deposit even though windows aren’t even in production yet. It doesn’t matter how long you wait, as long as they hook the sale.

    Answer from pro:

Good day, I'm sorry to hear about your situation and how long you have been waiting for your windows. The delay is in great part due to the GreenON program that caused a major influx in orders within a very short time frame. That being said, I would still like to look into your situation further to see how we can help. Would you be able to send me more details to marketing@vinylbilt.com by email so that I can further investigate? Thank you!

    Window replacement

Customer service is extremely poor. Had to sent photos of completely colour changed windows, in entire house. Advertise great colour product. Completely untrue. Do not stand behind their inferior product. I chose one colour and now the windows all have turned to a completely different colour on the exterior. This has occurred in a period of 3 years after installation. They do not respond to any communication.

I apologize for the issues you are having with your Vinylbilt windows, and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please contact us at marketing@vinylbilt.com to provide us with more information as well as your contact info so that we can look further into this. Thank you!

    Inept service

Ridiculously poor service. Window cracked after installation. Waited weeks for new window to come. Booked day off work only to be called and told the technician dropped the window. Made arrangements again. Booked ANOTHER day off work. Same call: technician broke the window--YET AGAIN! Window cracked in December. It is now almost April. Still waiting. Hmmm...time to review your hiring policy for technicians.

    Poor customer service

Windows look great from the outside, but don't let that fool you because they can easily fall off its axis and leave a gap when you close them. I had two like that and tried getting them to come for weeks to fix, and finally gave up after a dozen calls. They claim to offer a lifetime warranty when you're buying them, but good luck getting them to honor that after you paid. Buyer beware.

    Quits happy

Great product and good value. I noticed a huge savings in my energy bill in the first year of having my windows installed. They look great and function well. 2 thumbs up!
