    Plumbing Services

Plumber.ca is a dishonest, dishonourable contractor. I am a disabled senior. I had been without water for a week in early February, calling every contractor I could, until I contacted Plumber.ca. They sent someone right away who told me I had to have the entire piping system replaced in the crawl space. I did a very stupid thing: I panicked, I accepted what they told me at face value and I paid a 50% deposit to make sure I would get the help I needed. They came back the next business day and did a repair that was worth approximately 20% of what they charged me (according to two independent plumbers), they did not restore my water, claiming that my home "does not have sufficient power" to allow their pipe heater to work (untrue, according to the other plumbers), they demanded payment of the balance "so they could get the men and material to do the rest of the job", and they left. I was without water for another eight days. Another plumber thawed the lines and charged $300.00 plus tax. Plumber.ca never returned, and they ignore my calls. Do not deal with this company.

    Broken cartridge in bath faucet

Needed my bathtub faucet replaced. Catridge leaking on an 18yo Delta who dont manufacture that cartridge anymore. Called my usual plumber but they were still a week away. Leak got very bad and was tired off turning the main on and off when water was required. Called Plumber.ca. Guy on phone was great. Quite the salesman. Whole pitch about great srvice, prices... Quickly mentioned service call charge but would be absorbed if they completed the work. Same story with all plumber outfits. Guy came quick (within half hour) checks out the tap then hands me the company binder. Wants to charge me $526 to replace a $30 cartridge. Told him this must be a joke its a 5 minute job! He says he has to turn off the main (it was already off), remove the existing unit, find a replacement, install it, test it, replace the controller, clean up and turn the water back on. in miy calculations at $526 for 5 minutes, these guys charge $6,312/hr!!!!!! TO REPLACE A CATRIDGE!!! For a laugh I asked about the price to replace the faucet with a new one I already had and install two shut off valves. He mumbled something about $1500. Thanks but no thanks. In and out in 5 minutes cost me $149.99 for a grand total of $189.48. They even had the freaking nerve to charge me an extra $20 for fuel charge!! I wouldnt call these guys if they were the only plumbers on the planet again. DO NOT CALL!!!!

    Drain clogged

Had issues with the kitchen sink - water wouldn't drain at all. Tried some DYI tricks but was unsuccessful. Called plumber.ca for assistance; technician came the very same day. Work was performed and no issues were encountered since (at the time of this review a month has lapsed since when the work was performed). The servicing took about 1hr as the 20 odd ft cable had to be used to unclog the drain. Technician cleaned up after himself once work was completed which was really nice and shared some good tips on how to avoid grease build up in the main. Price was as quoted before work began however I find that to be on the pricey side for 1hr worth of work.

    toilet leaking

The guy who came was rude and very unfriendly. Took the lid off the back of the toilet and said:" This going to cost a lot of money" and it did. I was totally ripped off. He replaced two very cheap parts within 20 minutes, flooded my bathroom(which I had to mop up, left his boot marks on the wall. .As he's leaving he advices me its clogged and will cost another 300 to unclog it. I plunged it myself and its fine. Now the problem is it won't stop running and I have to get another plumber in. Lazy, rude, and obviously not a good plumber. My advice is trust your instincts.. I should have kicked him out immediately when he knocked on the door.

    Plumbing Repair

We had some work done on Sunday, January 18th. The valve for the water shut-off to our house sprang a leak. Since this happened on a Sunday morning, we needed someone who could provide emergency service. We found Plumbers.ca in the Yellow Pages. A plumber arrived very shortly after we called, but had to leave since the City of Markham was unable to turn off the water out in the street. When the city finally was able to shut off our water, the plumber returned. We had to pay $244.00 for the initial visit although nothing could be repaired. We were told that this amount would be applied to the final repair cost. The bill to change the valve was an outrageous $997.00 plus tax! We were told this price was the Senior's Discount! I timed the repair and it took the plumber exactly 42 minutes to complete the job and write out the invoice. He admitted that we could buy the parts for about $20.00. The remaining $977.00 was for 42 minutes of his time. We expected to pay a premium for emergency work, but what we were charged translates to $1400.00 per hour. The plumber indicated that they do not charge a premium for weekend work so that this in fact was their normal rate. If you are independently wealthy and don't mind being ripped off, then you will have no problems with this company; if getting value for your money means anything, then I would never call these people.

Kitchen faucet replaced. New valve and flapper installed in toilet.

I was completely satisfied with the work. Service tech arrived in timely manner and was very pleasant and easy to talk to. The work was done quickly and with no mess. I must confess that I had real sticker shock. The costs were much above what I could have imagined.

    BUYER BEWARE

This company should be ashamed and I only wish the ratings could be classified as a negative number. As a fellow contractor I am apalled at this company's behaviour as this is exactly the type of service that gives all contractors a bad reputation. I work for a contracting company and our team ran into a plumbing issue on a job site. I contacted plumber.ca in burlington as they were close to the job site. I was informed that there would be a $250 charge for the emergency visit but that the cost would go towards the service and was asked to provide all of our credit information over the phone immediately (I'll get back to that part later). The technician showed up 90 minutes later and during the visit called the owner of plumber.ca to determine pricing. The price that was quoted was $1650 for a job that should have cost no more than $150. I can appreciate that there is a premium for emergency services but seriously? Over 10 times the price? Clearly the owner (Steve) decided he had an opportunity to gouge us on the price. What is even more despicable is that we are also contractors and are completely aware of what the cost should be, and they already charge a $250 premium. Talk about taking advantage of a situation. I can't imagine what they do to an uninformed consumer. We obviously declined using their service as the cost was absolutely ridiculous. But we did have to pay the $250 for the pleasure of their company. At which point the technician was looking for payment - which I could not understand as the office already had our credit card information for payment. It becomes difficult to trust a company who is always seeking payment and doesn't actually provide any service - other than showing up. On top of this, they wanted an additional $20 fuel charge, (which I refused to pay as this was not communicated) unbelievable. $300 to provide an inflated quote and in the end do nothing at all. To add more salt to the wound, I have attempted to call this company to discuss this experience as professionals and of course I have received no return phone call and have called over a dozen times only to be greeted by voicemail. The interesting part of the entire ordeal was that the city of Burlington was on site (to turn off the water) and overheard the technician's quote. The folks that worked for the city couldn't believe their ears and the city fixed the pipe (at no charge) - it took them 10 minutes to fix the problem - 10 minutes to fix a problem that plumber.ca quoted $1650 for. I can't believe this company is in business and they clearly lack professionalism and integrity. SHAME ON YOU! You are an embarassment to the industry.

    Main shut-off valve

We simply wanted to exchange a leaky faucet in the basement, when the main shut-off valve broke. Plumber.ca sent out a plumber right away. I highly recommend the work. The plumber was very helpful, knowledgeable and made helpful recommendations. He worked quickly and cleaned everything up afterwards. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and would recommend it to anybody.

    Plumbing

We found ourselves in quite a bind and in need of plumbing services in the middle of the night on a long weekend. I made the phone call and was greeted by a curteous and helpful responder who sent a plumber out to help quickly. We were given a complete estimate before work began and in the end it was done quickly and for less than we were quoted. We were very happy with our experience and know who we will be calling if we need a plumber again!

    Leak in accessible water lines

Saw ad in yellow pages...called in a non-emergency repair..A man from the company called back and sent out plumber within the same day - was not advised on phone that this company had no hourly rate rather it was a flat rate service busines...was not advised that a fuel surcharge was added to bill...for the minor repair attending plumber quoted in excess of $500.00 - did not accept that quote...misunderstood call back appt. maker - thought fee was $149.00 per hr and free estimates were given and if not satisfied with estimate no need to use service...maybe our mistake but did not expect to be charged for estimate...told on phone if job proceeded $149.00 would be taken off bill again perhaps a misunderstanding believing this to bre an hourly rate......after some negotiation and telephone calls by the plumber from my home and an agreed upon price, the plumber did a five to ten minute soldering job...we paid in total nearly $250.00. Plumber indicated workmanship warrantied for 30 days, although not in writing.....Within one week leak returned in same place, three calls made and finally someone returned call, appt. made to reattend, there was a no show for that appt. called number and told since we had not paid full price no warranty was given and to repair they would return and recharge...caller who made this statement was very rude, said we were speaking untruths which we were not, and continued to scream to the point where it became a screaming match and a he said she said sort of disagreement...number called from phone book ad 905-483-1000...number from which calls were made to us was marked as a private number...discussed this matter at a social club meeting with other owners and was advised by two other owners they also had a bad experience and similar problems with the same company. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY SIMPLY ON THE FACT THAT THEY DID NOT STAND BEHIND THE REPAIR AND THE RUDNESS DEMONSTRATED BY THE PERSON CLAIMING TO BE THE OWNER WHEN HE WAS CHALLENGED ABOUT RETURNING TO RECTIFY THE DEFECTIVE REPAIR
