I had inquired about a moving service from various providers on HomeStars, and I received a very detailed and straight forward email from Tiam about his company's services. The rate was reasonable and the services provided were all included - you just paid for their time, nothing else. You click on the link from their email and you reserve your move on their calendar and select a duration for how long you think the move will take. Little pro tip though - whatever you think your move is going to take, add 4 hours to it. If you're trying to be conservative like me (aka cheap), because you're paying these guys by the hour, and you think you're 2 bedroom condo will only take 3 hours, in reality it will take 6-7.
Unfortunately, just like I had done by under-estimating the time required for my move, so did the person before my appointment, so my movers were a bit late. The end result of both my miscalculation in time and the person before me, meant that my movers finished my job at 2am. While that sounds bad, I wasn't the one doing all the heavy lifting - the movers were. Aidan and Ata had a great attitude from start to finish, despite ultimately working what ended up to be about an 18 hour day. They handled my possessions with care and wrapped as many items as I wanted to protect them during the move. To top it all off, these guys did my move in 40C degree Toronto weather without a single complaint.
My hat goes off to Tiam and his crew for a job well done. Thank you Aidan and Ata for your hard work and your good spirits for what seemed like an endless moving day for you guys. And thank you Tiam for the discount for starting the job late.
