    Moving Services

Hello Tara, To confirm our telephone conversation, today, THANK YOU, to you and your entire AMJ Campbell Team. The packer, Christine, was excellent. She arrived on time for the appointment, was very organized and obviously very experienced. Christine worked well with my friend (the client) and it was a great help to have her prepare the larger items for the move. On moving day, the AMJBC team (3 men) arrived punctually. The driver had parked the truck behind the apartment building, as pre-arranged with the Strata Council Office. Once another friend re-confired one elevator could be used for the move, the elevator keys and building keys were given to your team. Both my friend and I thought your team worked efficiently and methodically and in a timely manner. On arrival at the building, your team again worked well and quickly to deliver everything to the new apartment. We especially appreciated the team's help in reassembling the client's bed. By the time the paperwork was signed and your team left, we felt comfortable that our friend (the client) would get a good night's sleep. Tara, it has been a pleasure meeting you, speaking with you and having AMJ Campbell as the moving company for my friend (the client). I will not hesitate to recommend your company to others who may need a quote and/or assistance with a move locally or long distance.

    Answer from pro:

Dear Edith, Thank you for choosing AMJ Campbell to assist your friend in his recent local move. So great to hear that you were happy with every step of the process from the initial moving consultation with Tara, to the packing expertise of Christine and her team and through to the transportation and reassembly of household goods at your friends new home. We recognize that moving can be a very stressful event and take pride in our ability to provide professional and courteous service to help ease some of that stress for our clients. Warm regards to you and Happy Holidays!

    Good crew for moving

I wanted a professional mover as I had lots of bad experiences in the past and hired this company based on the reviews here at 9.9/10 at the time. The sales rep was friendly when she came out for the estimate, but not always available; I had phone and email tag the week leading up to the move. I had asked for a 9am start time, was told they would show up 830 - 9 by dispatch, but 9 - 930 from the sales rep, and they showed up at 915 on site (at the condo), but didn't phone me, but the clock had started for the hourly rate. A phone call would've been nice. However, the 3 man crew was professional, had lots of years of experience. I was watching them, and they would not always look at my box labels (fragile, do not stack, this way up) during load and unload. I found several boxes not upright. However, nothing broke and it took a little longer than expected for a 2 bedroom condo (6 hours), but it was less stressful than how other movers did the job. After feeling confident about their care and attention to blanket wrap my fragile glass furniture and mirrors, leather dining chairs, etc., I was more relaxed during the unload. They did not have a marked truck, which I found interesting, because this is a big company. At $140 an hour for 3 men, 1 hour mandatory travel time, $25 admin fee, and bonus Aeroplan Miles, I was happy with the move even though it was more than I had originally wanted to spend.

Dear NE, Thank you for taking the time to post a review of our professional moving services. We really appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns. So glad to hear that you were happy with the in-home estimate that was done by one of our moving consultants. As you can appreciate, they are very busy in and out of customer’s homes providing moving consultations and are not always available to answer the phone. It is our company policy though that a phone message will be returned within 4 business hours. To explain your concern about start time, we charge a half hour of travel time from our warehouse to your home in the morning (and half an hour from your new home back to the warehouse at the end of the day). Sometimes the heavy traffic of the Lower Mainland causes delays in arrival time but you are only charged 30 minutes travel each way. The crew arrival time is noted on a confirmation letter that every customer receives and you also receive a phone call the day prior to advise arrival time. We guarantee arrival time will be within half an hour of that one hour arrival window. Thank you for acknowledging the hard work of our professional crews and the fact that nothing was broken during your move. The crews will always try to be aware of signs or labels but sometimes during the busy process of loading/unloading things can get overlooked. Rest assured that our crews are always extremely careful when loading and as long as packing has been done properly, nothing should get broken. All of our crews are experienced, full-time, background checked and work exclusively for AMJ Campbell. Regarding the time your move took to complete, an average 2 bedroom condo to condo move will certainly average 5-6 hours. Always feel comfortable though contacting your moving consultant after the move. He/she would be more than happy to review your estimate and final billing and talk to our crews to see if anything unusual happened to extend the time. All of our moving vans are currently being repainted and new AMJ logos applied. I’m sorry that the van provided for your move was one caught in the middle of this transition. Again, thank you so much for choosing AMJ Campbell for your moving needs. With so many moving companies to choose from, we really appreciate your business.

AMJ Campbell moved us from North Bay to Calgary

Worst moving company ever! They destroyed and damaged so much of our stuff in a move from North Bay to Calgary in September 2015. They treated our stuff like garbage. Boxes and containers marked glass and fragile meant nothing to them. They put a hole in the wall going into the basement. Very unprofessional movers.

Moving from St. John's to Montreal

Worst of my 13 moves in Canada. This time I moved from Montreal to St. John's with 1541 lbs of personal items. Lived in St. John's for 4 years and came back to Montreal. Before returning, I donated at least 300 lbs of books, clothes, old computer and monitor, ornaments, etc. I purchased nothing new. AMJ Campbell billed me for 1565 lbs, i.e. more than the original 1541 lbs I went to NL with. A totally impossible weight. In addition, the inexperienced movers that came to pick up my stuff were careless, unfriendly and spent all the time joking around and/or arguing with each other while handling items. When I got my stuff in Montreal boxes with books were wet as if left in the rain or on a wet floor, practically every box was scratched or ripped, even my metal trunks had heavy scratches. This move was far from stress-free and pleasant. All the time there was a sense that items were not treated safely. Very unprofessional movers.

    Household Move

Just a heads up to warn everyone if you are planning to move DO NOT USE AMJ Campbell on Vipond Road in Mississauga, Ontario. I recently used them in a move and it was the worst move of my life. First off they arrive 2 hours earlier that the appointment and I had to have a serious discussion with them to have them deduct the 2 hours off the bill since I would be not be able to get into the house I was moving into 2 hours earlier. The movers wrapped everything up beautifully but unfortunately, when they delivered my furniture to me new home they removed all the padding on almost all the items before they brought the pieces in to the house. They damaged so many pieces of furniture that it was heart breaking. They took hunks out of my wall, destroyed a shelving unit and a bookcase and ripped my new mattress covers as well as losing the cushion from my chair, lost pieces to my lamps, destroyed my bookcase and one of my metal shelves and took my office chair with them without my permission. They didn't set up my bed and I was left on my own to try and assemble a Queen sized bed. The headboard is still not attached although I did manage to get the mattress onto the frame by myself. They have advised me that the insurance company needs a deductible before they can fix anything but the cheque for $150.00 is to be sent to AMJ Campbell not to an insurance company. This sounds very unusual to me and this on top of a fee that is higher than any other moving company I had called. I have worked with AMJ Campbell out of Hamilton many times for business and wrongly assumed that the Mississauga branch would be as professional and expedient as the Hamilton branch. Obviously all the branches of the company are not the same. So buyers beware!! Just received a cheque from AMJ Campbell Mississauga for all my damages. The estimate to replace the cushion on my chair that they lost and recover the chair was $600-$800. AMJ Mississauga gave me $50. It cost $200 for the insurance and another $150 for the guy to come out and look at the damage. AMJ Mississauga sent me a cheque for $150 for all the damages. We moved 30 pictures ourselves and nothing was damaged and AMJ Mississauga moved 2 pictures and they broke the frame and put a dent in the canvas of one of them. The picture is useless and they gave me nothing for it. They moved a 4 shelf metal shelving unit and they bend the frame so badly when I tried to put a box on it the whole thing came down on top of me. They gave me $50 to replace the shelving unit. The movers ripped all the trim off my teak bookcase which was 5 feet long and about 3 ft high and put a big hole in the side of it. AMJ Mississauga gave me $50 for that. Almost a year of fighting with them and I get $150. There were also dents in my walls and an antique curio cabinet that they drilled holes in and took brackets from another cupboard so they could put the shelves in since they lost the brackets. There are good AMJ Campbell branches out there I know since I worked with the one in Hamilton for many years but AMJ Campbell in Mississauga do not have professional movers like they advertised and they didn't even turn up in an AMJ Campbell truck. I was afraid there was a problem when I saw that because if they are using rental trucks instead of their own as far as I'm concerned they are a mickey mouse company. I decided to give them a chance and I paid for it dearly. Don't make the same mistake.

    Moved from house to condo.

This was not the first time we contracted a mover. We were happy in previous time. However, AMJ was wonderful! Debbie did the estimate in writing; organized the time and assured us that they we will be out of the house before noon (contractual agreement with the house purchaser) and be at the condo at noon. Time was critical as there was another moving on same day at the condo complex. The truck with the crew arrived on time. They carefully prepared the furniture and fragile items before loading in the van; unloaded at the other end with care. They were done on promised time. That was impressive! However, the move maybe great, but thing could happen. The back mirror in our China cabinet cracked during the move. It was one of the crew who noticed and brought it to our attention. They admitted responsibility (we did not see the crack and they could have just walked off, but did not! Very impressive!). After a couple of days, the glass repairer phoned and arranged time to fix the glass. Done! Kudos to AMJ! Will not hesitate to recommend them to others!

Dear Ben, Thank you so much for taking the time to post this review of our moving services! We recognize that simple things like arriving on time and keeping our promises go a long way to alleviate the stress of moving, while earning your trust for future moves. Sorry to hear that some damage occurred to your mirror - thank you for understanding that despite our crews always handling your household goods with the utmost care, sometimes things happen. Glad to hear that your mirror was repaired quickly and to your satisfaction and that you would recommend us to your family and friends! Best regards to you!

Moving household from Vancouver to Kelowna

Earlier this year we moved our 20 ft overseas container with Kehrli & Oeler from Switzerland. Their agent in Canada is AMJ Campbell. This company really made every move extremely easy for us. Everything went so smooth, administration and at the customs. AMJ Campbell also brought our container into the storage facilities in Richmond. The guys did an awesome job. Now they moved our belongings from Richmond to Kelowna into our house. Again, everything went great. Many thanks to Janet Delaney and Tia Stevenson at the office. They coordinated our international and local move and kept us always up to date. Also a big thank you to the moving guys, especially Colin and his crew - they were always on time and took real good care of our belongings. Everyone at AMJ did an excellent job. This is the 4th time that we have worked with this company and we would certainly recommend AMJ Campbell to family and friends.

    Answer from pro:

Dear Leila, Thank you so much for once again trusting AMJ Campbell to assist with both your international and local moving needs. It's so gratifying to know that you received consistent, great service from both our administrative/office staff and our front line crews. Best wishes in your new home in Kelowna!

    Delta, BC

AMJ Campbell made two moves for me recently. One was a shipment of furniture to Ontario and the other was a move of goods to my new address in Victoria. Debbie Butschler, Moving Consultant for the company was thorough and very helpful in all the logistics involved in the two shipments. Leon and his crew who moved the goods to my son's home in Ontario arrived within the stated time period and were very professional and efficient in all aspects involving the move. As an aside, when truck arrived my two and half year old grandson was awestruck. Leon let him sit in the driver's seat and blow the airhorn. A very nice gesture and indicative of good customer service. For the move to my new address in Victoria Randy and his crew just as professional. Randy contacted me twice to keep me up to date on the arrival time and when they did arrive they were efficient in offloading all the furniture and other goods as well as reassembling that which needed to be done. Moving can be very stressful particularly for two moves being conducted in a short period of time but the people at AMJ Campbell were a delight to work with and completed both moves with no problems. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone needing to move locally or long distance. Norm Shoemaker

I'm so pleased that both the long distance and local moves went smoothly and we were able to make both moves a little less stressful for you. Happy to hear that your grandson was pleased too! Best wishes in your new home in Victoria!!

    Moving

Many items were lost while in storage. A desk that had eight legs now has none. An antique china cabinet is missing the shelves. Shouldn't these items be with the piece of furniture in question? Why should we have to look through hundreds of boxes. What incompetence!! It is frustrating and stressful to move and to add to this, lost items. We will be processing a claim for compensation. I will never recommend AMJ Campbell. I regret this decision and I only hope that people will chose an alternate moving company.

Move from Vancouver to Victoria BC

Had the best loading and wrapping of furniture experience ever. The movers were polite and funny and they worked very hard--no elevator--lots of stairs and never a complaint. Treated my furniture nicely, with respect and even made friends with my shy dog! Highly recommend!
