    Main floor renovation

    Our vision was for an open plan main floor for our 100yr old urban semi, custom kitchen, and a fireplace! We interviewed 4 contractors and were most impressed with Home Gurus. They were professional and knowledgeable, they communicated how the process would go, what to expect and provided a detailed project breakdown of costs! They provided a detailed timeline and a weekly update of progress. They kept in touch with any unexpected updates or changes so there were no surprises! The site manager was incredibly detail oriented and well organized! Awesome experience overall and delighted with the result!

    Great people, great work!

    Home Guru built a fence in our backyard, and we were super impressed with the professionalism, how they listened to our ideas, the care the team took with the build, and perhaps most importantly, how well everything has stood the test of time. Thank you Aaron!

    Addition and large patio door replacement.

    Let me start this by saying this is not my first major reno. We have done serval over the years, ALL of which I ended up having issues with. I fully understand how the process works and that it will always cost more in the end. So I went into this with a casual attitude of length of time for the job to go and that the budget was loose. This is however my first renovation where I would 100% recommend this company start to finish. The first thing to note Is the level of communication Aaron, Justin and Ian provide is what sets them apart. Everything is laid out for you to see and they alway stay in touch to manage your expectations. Questions get answered immediately with clear timelines laid out for you. You are never guessing where the crew is and if they are coming back. And if you are just ask, they will answer you immediately. The second thing to note is the level of respect for your space is bar none. The job site is always protected, tidy and clean as can be at the end of the day. The reno did come in over budget, as to be expected but they way they handle it, it's never a surprise and it laid out on a website for you to see and manage. All of the crew are sweet and respectful. They take pride in their work and try to keep disruptions to a min. No loud screaming, swearing, garbage left laying around or obnoxious music blaring all day on this job site. ( Things I have encountered in the past) The level of craft is excellent and I even went away on vacation and left them to finish up. Something I would never dare to do in the past. I don't like even leaving the house during a reno for fear something will go wrong while I am away. Speaking of issues, should one arise, the crew will do whatever it takes to fix it. We had one small hiccup, a time line crunch and instead of the usual " Oh well, that's just the way it is" their response was to pull all the trades in the same day and push through until it was done. I am beyond happy with this renovation and would hire them in a heart beat!

    Condo renovation

    Full house renovation

    Bathroom remodel - ongoing plumbing issues

    [Edited 1 year later] We had a small(ish) project to redo a bathroom. In the planning stage they proposed excellent suggestions to enhance our original ideas. They worked with us upfront to set all expectations so there were no surprises as the project went along. However, there were issues throughout the project (as there always are) including a pipe they put a screw through, resulting in ongoing issues in the room below. More than a year later and we are still having water leaking issues (they never properly fixed the problem they made) and I need to have someone else come in to fix their errors. There are also many small details (asymmetrical plug placement, not putting baseboards behind the toilet, etc) that just show a lack of attention/care. While overall the work is fine, the details and follow-up required resulted in the lower star rating.

    Home renovation

    We used Home Guru to do a large renovation at our home in Toronto. They gave us a new kitchen, bathroom, fireplace, foyer, cabinets, storage areas, drywall, and outside stairs. The guys at Home Guru (Aaron, Justin & Ian) have done a lot of this type of work and were great to deal with. They had the right trades on the job at the right time, and went above and beyond to make sure that the quality was high and we were happy with the project and results. This is a large project and it's our home, so trust is really key. We completely trusted them in everything they did. They were above board about costs and the progression, and we had great communication throughout. It's an older home, so it comes with its challenges and they discovered we had an issue with old pipes. They were on top of it and recommended the best way forward and got it fixed quickly. We're done now and are thrilled with the results! We'd wholeheartedly recommend Home Guru.

    Main floor / Kitchen renovation

    At a high level, our project consisted in - a kitchen remodel - removal of a load bearing wall - changing a rear window into a french door - redoing the flooring throughout the main floor. We selected Home Guru after meeting with 5 different contractors and we are very happy with our selection. Aaron and Justin are honest, hard-working, dependable and professional. Our site manager, Ian, was also great to work with. They guided us throughout the whole project, made great recommendations when we were unsure about our options. The project overall went very well. Within the timelines that were discussed originally and within budget that was agreed to. The site was kept clean They use an application that helps manage communication with everyone (CoConstruct) and for me that was actually a great way to have all communications and information in one place. It made exchanges quick and everyone was in the loop at the same time. I would definitely use them again for renovations in our house and have no problem recommending them to anyone who is looking to do renovations in their home. Thank you Home Guru for giving us a great experience with our home renovation.

    Underpinning + Waterproofing

    I can't rave enough about how great the Home Guru team was during this process. An house underpinning is a big project to take on, especially living through the digging process. They were very courtsey, very clean and quick at completing the project. We have hired them on to finish our basement in the near future and will probably be our go-to contractors for any future projects. I would highly reccomend them. Thank you for your help.

    Main Floor Renovation For Single Family House

    Home Guru did an amazing job completely renovating the main floor of our single family house. The job was finished in 2 months, ahead of schedule and on budget despite the many supply chain issues and extra items we added to the scope. Justin and Aaron are honest, hard-working, dependable, professional, easy to work with and very knowledgeable – and really nice people as well. We completely trusted them and their recommendations and the whole process was very smooth. Their Project Management tool ensured we were kept in the loop at all times and they were super-responsive and patient when we had questions. Also their sub-contractors were professional, reliable and respectful of our space. If you are looking for a home renovation company you can trust, I would definitely recommended Home Guru and will definitely use them again if we do another reno.
