Snow blowing for laneway and walkway

I wrote the review below this morning. It is now 11 hours since I contacted Metro Snow and Ice Management. They did everyone on the street around 1:30 this afternoon except me. So, am I being punished for putting in a complaint to Homestars?? Appleseed changed name to Metro Snow and Ice Management around December 2016. It seems same owner merged 2 companies. I have used since 2000. Excellent until merger. Beyond awful since. City snow plow came at 5 a.m. this morning. It is now 10:05, 5 hours after and no sign of them. I emailed them at 5:05 a.m. to say city plow came and I had to get out to medical appointment. Missed that appt. Did they take on too many new customers? I do not know and frankly just want service I paid for. Atrocious service in Briargreen this year. Owner can hopefully explain why he destroyed a fabulous business.

    Answer from pro:

Sorry you feel the service is not as on par as last year. Same drivers, same system, many more frequent storms. I've owned the Appleseed areas in Westend and Barhaven now for 15 plus years. Our tractor to customer ratio is the exact same as last year in Briar Green and all other areas as last season. Obviously I will revisit your area and review specific performance there to improve. The suggestion we would 'punish you' for putting a negative review is simply ludicrous. You have a right to your opinion and I respect that. I've had few complaints and many compliments on our many added features this year. Hope we can improve though for you Ken

    Just not as good

This is our first year with Metro after hearing rave reviews from a couple of sources. It is also our first winter in our new home and we were surprised to see that we are only 1 of 2 houses that went with Metro while everyone else went with the same competitor. It didn't take long for us to realize why, the other company comes 2-3 times to our every plow. They also do a cleaner and more thorough job, especially at the end of the driveway. The annoying thing is, we paid more to sign with Metro with their first on the street guarantee, so far this has not happened yet. Perhaps my expectations were too high and if I didn't have direct comparison with a better company I would have given a higher rating, but service has been adequate rather than exceptional.

    Answer from pro:

Sorry you feel that way. We offer more services such as GPS alerts, pre,and during email updates that no other company offers. ig price is your only motivator there are cheaper firms. 3 have gone out of business this month alone.... charged to little and ran out of funds. This is why many customers have stuck with us fir over 25 years. We are solid. Hope we can win bs k your confidence and will work towards they. Ken

    Snow Removal

Wouldn't it be interesting to collect everyone's pictures, and video footage (I know video exists as I have seen several ones being passed around in my workplace) from this year I know there are many featuring unplowed driveways, owners shoveling their own driveways and videos of drivers speeding down residential streets while children are playing, drivers leaving the tractor to yell at clients and neighbors . Worst service ever, I hired a snowplow company so i can get in and out of my driveway when I need to get to work and kid activities. I don't want come home after a long day of work an snow to an unplowed drive. My driveway looks terrible I have at least 4 inches of snow that has been so compacted due to the lack of plowing. I will never use them again. They have taken on too many contracts are are not meeting their obligations to first out at 4cm. Think twice before hiring them. I saw them come by at 5:30am after approx. 17 hours of snow and the city plow passed not 30 minutes later dumping the 17hrs of snow on the road onto my driveway and guess what I was plowed into my driveway I had to shovel myself out. Every other company plowed their clients out before 6am. These are pics of the driveway across the street from me that I am also responsible for. They have the same company I also had to go and shovel a space for them to get out.

I will investigate this for you. Thanks for letting me know. Ken

    Snow removal

Terrible service! 12+ hours into a snowfall and no removal. Driveway totally covered. City plow has been by for the sidewalks on my side of the street so it's even worse. Emailed called no response. Guaranteed that there would be first on site, live email chat. 4cm of snow clean up unlike other companies. There have at least been two accumulations 4cm or more with no removal done at all. Most frustrating part is our neighbors have had their lane cleared twice. Not for lack of effort in our part but we have employed this company due to health concerns so a dependable service is empatative. Attached photos of my lane and cleared lanes of my neighbors.

Your review is concerning and I appreciate your health issues as we serve many senior and at need customers. Let me delve into this and see where improvements are required. Ken

Completely dismayed by the lack of service

This company is new and took over for a company we have been satisfied with in the past. My neighbours and other family members in this area are outraged. They have hardly showed up. Right now it has been snowing about 10 hrs and they have not cleared any of our driveways. I hoped when there was a huge snowfall they would come through but apparently not. I can't imagine they will keep any customers.

    Answer from pro:

We certainly showed up. This was a 30cm storm and all driveways did in fact get cleared. Every company in the city worked tirelessly fo 48 hrs and are preparing to go out again today. We received more kudos then complaints this storm for our strong efforts. I'm sorry you disagree Ken

    Not impressed

I pay for snow clearing to keep my driveway usable. This company totally blew it with this storm. They sent out an email that they would start clearing this evening to save resources. Well with the amount of snow that fell, and on top of yesterday, they should have been out MUCH earlier. My driveway is completely impassable/unable. I called the office but no answer. I emailed and got a sorry for your frustration response but not with any commitment to do anything about it. They said it would be done by morning, which is not good enough. Now I can't drive my car - will need to take a cab. I consider this a failure.

    Answer from pro:

Your drive has been cleared. And within the times stated in the contract. It was a huge stormed and all snow companies performed admirably under the harsh conditions. Sorry you feel differently Ken

    Ineffective snow plowing

They rarely show up...always too late (after midnight). Many competitors will plow 2 or 3 times while I wait to have them come once after a big snowfall. The job is rushed and tractor too large to efficiently plow driveway.

Would highly recommend Metro Snow and Ice Management

We have used this company since its start. We are very happy with the service. The owner takes the quality of his service very seriously. Communication before and during snow storms is excellent. We have always been very pleased with the prompt service and excellent quality of clearing of our driveway. Everyone on our street is very happy with the service, are repeat customers, and no one has any complaints.

    Snow Removal

This is my first year with Metro and I am quite pleased with the service they deliver in a prompt and satisfactory manner. I receive E-mail "Updates" as to how they plan to handle each storm, then "Alerts" when driver/tractor is in my area. As of this date (Feb. 9/17) Metro has cleared my drive 14 times!

    Answer from pro:

Many thanks Barry for this great review. I really appreciate the feedback. Ken

Owner: I would like your help here... with some positive Reviews!

Edit Sept 12, 18: Instead of improving better removal service, Metro asked its clients to write positive feedbacks on BBB and Homestar for a chance to win a trip to Cancun. Too bad once a successful company, Appleseed, has sunk to this new low. ================================================================ * downgraded to zero star after company reply * I am a client of yours. A simple email search in your system would easily locate your clients. You are very effective when commenting on reviews. I wish you can provide same kind of snow removal efficiency and speedy email response. * QoS? Downgraded to zero star. Driveway wasn't cleared for 8+ hours after a snowfall. * I am not sure if your style of email amusement will actually help speed up snow clearing service. If hitting the unsubscribe button would help, I would hit it many times. They did not respond my initial email but after I told them I will file a BBB complaint then they finally respond my pricing question. $300 is introductory price for new clients, the next season it shot up to $380 for my single driveway. Buyers beware. The owner, however, isn't afraid to compose long email newsletter on "useless snow facts" and making fun of customers, such as: Message left: * "Get over here now and shovel my damn walkway! I cant get out to the gym!"' Response: None. No name, address or phone number left. (Guess they got their workout after all) Message left: *"Appreciate you taking my Christmas lights down from the shrubs! Saves me the trouble but do I get them back" Response: "You're welcome and sorry no". Still stuck in the blower For the storm happened on Feb 12, it started falling at around 3pm. They still haven't come by 11pm before I went to sleep. 25cm on my driveway uncleared.

    Answer from pro:

Nowhere in your review do you even mention our 'quality of service'? Good? Bad? Okay? 1st point:I guess my 'candid' approach to my many customer doesn't fit your style. My levity is used simply to put customers at ease. (most appreciate it- past customer surveys each bear this out)....you can always hit the 'unsubscribe button'. 2nd point: We offer sometimes 'introductory pricing' sometimes each fall to increase customers in certain areas. (Many companies do this on a regular basis) 3rd point: what does any of this have to do with 'clearing snow out of your driveway'? And in the end....what's your point? 'Writing prose'? A new client saved a few bucks? You mention nothing about the service? You're complaining because you don't like the emails your receive explaining our plans? Ridiculous reveiw. Competitor?
