Last month, we made a horrible discovery - our crawl space was completely covered in mould! The discovery came when we opened our basement door one day and were overwhelmed by its smell. We do our laundry in the basement regularly and had not smelled a thing. It seemed to spring up overnight. However, it would have been growing there for years before getting to that stage. Not having any reason to go into it the space, we didn't spot it. Unfortunately, our children had stored cardboard boxes of belongings in it some years ago. Those boxes and their contents were all covered in mould and had to be thrown out.
Green Life Restoration Services came to our rescue. We are grateful to have found them, most especially because they do not use chemicals to remove the mould. Even more, their botanically-based disinfectant, even with our allergies and sensitivities, was one we could deal with.
They arrived very quickly and took extensive precautions to remove the moulds, protect themselves in doing so, and securing the area so nothing spread outside of it. They had to grind the surface of the basement floor and concrete block walls to remove it and apply the disinfectant to the wooden joists and backs of our cellar stairs. Once done, they kept the area sealed with a HEPA filter running in it for 48 hours to clear out all mould left in the air. It is a tremendous relief to have it all gone!
