    chuffed with my new chimney!

    I contacted Daniel, owner of The Stone Porch, for a consultation and quote regarding an old, decaying, leaning chimney sat atop my 120-year-old house in the Beaches. I was most impressed with his knowledge, skill and sensitivity towards my home’s age and style. After receiving his very detailed quote and feeling further assured by the knowledge that he was duly licensed and insured, I went ahead with the project. Although the job of re-building a chimney sounds like a small one, I realized how wrong I was. After scaffolding was put up, Daniel and three crew members spent two days taking down, removing and rebuilding a new chimney. What a difference a few days makes. My falling apart, visibly leaning and water damaged chimney had been replaced by a solid, straight, beautifully laid, red brick chimney, topped with attractive and functional waterproof and animal-proof caps. Additionally, Daniel had sourced a red, Victorian style and textured brick that matched perfectly the original bricks of the home’s period resulting in a new but original-looking chimney that will outlast me! I highly recommended Daniel and his crew at The Stone Porch and in fact, I have a different project in mind to do with him next year.

    Foundation Repair and Stone Patio

    Daniel and his team did a great job repairing a crumbly foundation wall, and putting a beautiful patio in our backyard. They arrived when they said they would, finished in good time, and even came in slightly under budget! I would highly recommend.

    Masonry and Parge Wall

    Daniel and his team were a pleasure to work with throughout a tricky job that frankly neither of us anticipated. He presented solutions and kept up with great communication and kept the site tidy which is so important with shared driveway and managing neighbours. Unfortunately, I had set up the job slightly out of sequence with other repairs but Daniel kindly offered to come back at a later time to do a small/minor patch repair which is so appreciated after what he and his team did.

    Excellent work

    Incredible craftsmanship and pros all around. Daniel provided a comprehensive and detailed project plan for a difficult job. They executed exactly to plan and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product ..3 beautifully reconstructed porch pillars on a 120+ year old home. Highly recommended we are hiring them for our next stone project

    New walkway and window wells

    From the day we first met Daniel to secure a quote on the work we wanted done on a new stone walk and a number of window well upgrades we were impressed by his knowledge and competence and his willingness to explain the job as he would do it fully with us. Our window wells were pressure treated lumber structures which were installed over 30 years ago. They were disintegrating and required replacement. Daniel’s attention to detail and the thoroughness of his thinking when it came to the installation of replacement structures was evident from day one. In fact, his advice, professionalism and knowledge of his craft was evident throughout the project. Daniel was the only contractor who discussed with us the structural needs of the job including the drainage necessary to ensure that the ground would not shift and that the structures he installed would be stable and solid for decades. After we contracted with him, we found that his team was terrific. Daniel was on site with the team every day. They were conscientious, arrived on time each morning and worked extremely hard throughout the four weeks of the project. Digging in our area is difficult with massive tree roots everywhere. Daniel and his team worked during some of the hottest days of the summer and early fall. As our project progressed, our designs evolved, and the team executed on our plans with mastery and craftsmanship. The last thing I am going to say about working with Daniel and his company is that throughout the project, he was conscious of the project’s environmental footprint. Properly disposing of waste such as concrete and dirt, ensuring the former would be crushed and reused as aggregate rather than landfilled. This was a dimension of the project that we had not discussed with him, but it very much matched with our own enviro-friendly sensibilities. The experience of working with Daniel and his team of professionals was terrific. We recommend them without hesitation and would work with them again on our next project.

    Chimney and wall repairs

    I contacted Daniel late last year about some repairs to a chimney and compromised wall. After attending the residence and discussing what was needed, he provided me with a detailed quote listing all the procedures and work required. The price was very reasonable. Following delays caused by Covid shutdowns, he and his crew arrived in March and the repairs were completed over two days. The chimney and walls look superb. The replacement bricks match the existing, the bulging wall was dramatically reduced and the mortar joints blended beautifully. The crew cleaned up all areas afterwards and took the debris with them. All I had to supply was water for their hose. I have new builds on either side of me and Daniel and his crew are the most professional that I have seen. He and his crew were friendly, respectful, very knowledgeable and I would highly recommend their services.

    Brick replacement and tuck pointing

    We hired Daniel’s firm to repair and replace spalling bricks and decaying mortar in the north facing wall of our 108 year old home. Daniel and his team did a superb job. The workmanship and effort that they put into the project is quite evident and we are very pleased with the outcome. The work was completed efficiently and they thoroughly cleaned up the job site together with our neighbours’ property after the work was done. Throughout Daniel provided professional and courteous service and attention to detail as well as a follow up email several weeks after completion to ensure all was well with the work. We would certainly recommend the Stone Porch for any brick and masonry work.

    New stone stairs and porch

    We were very pleased with the work that was done in our house. Daniel provided us with everything we needed to make the best choices possible. The finished product speaks for itself and it is absolutely beautiful. We couldn’t be any happier. I recommend him most heartily

    Front Porch rebuild

    Daniel McCaffery of the Stone Porch has done a great job with our front porch. Daniel and his team worked long hours, diligently, to complete the work. Daniel explained all elements of the job and suggested some excellent finishing ideas that we incorporated into the final result. The team is knowledgeable , polite and on time. I would recommend Daniel and his team 100 %.

    Chimney etc.

    We recently had Daniel (owner of The Stone Porch) and his crew complete three simultaneous brickwork projects on our house in the Beaches: 1) the replacement of a 95-year-old chimney down to the roof line; 2) the capping off of an old, unused chimney; and 3) the enlargement of a window frame (involving the intricate task of removing and replacing bricks without cutting any edges). The end result was as close to ideal as one could want. It was apparent from the outset that Daniel has a deep connection to his craft. He's smart and thoughtful, and is able to explain the work process clearly to the client. The work order was clear and detailed and there were no surprises. We highly recommend The Stone Porch.
