We had a blackout in the neighbourhood about 2-3 weeks ago. When power was restored around 5 pm, 25% of our house was still in the dark. I immediately went to Home stars to find an electrician. I reviewed a number of them and finally called Photon. It's amazing how bad luck (the blackout) changed to good luck (finding Ali, this amazing electrician).
Ali was here in 2 hours and fixed the problem in a professional manner and explained everything he was about to do. He then told us that our electric panel was rated unsafe by ESF. He showed me the report of this panel online. He went further to explain that the electrician who did reno work when we moved into our house overloaded 6 breakers and there was a small amount of water leaking in from the outside. A disaster waiting to happen. He was not selling us a bill of goods as he showed me every detail with a thorough explanation. I agreed with him and got a quote to install a new electric panel. His quote was reasonable, and we went ahead. He then walked me through the process with ESF and our electric company. We got a date of December 13 for the work, and he showed up promptly to do the job. He was here from 7 am until 11 pm since the inspector was running behind to approve the job. He returned the next day to tidy up some odds and ends (9am-5pm), and the next day to label the panel. He also, BTW, shoveled the end of our driveway so this old guy wouldn't slip on the ice. He then vacuumed the whole work site and left the house in pristine condition. All this work and he stuck to his price.
