When it came time to do the roof, we spent months researching what was needed and companies that could do it. We had several estimates and decided on Global One, because they were honest about what we should be choosing (even saying when we didn’t need something that would have made them more money), definitely not the highest priced, and yet seemed to really extensively cover everything that needed to be done. In the end we had surprises on site, but it was dealt with so well that I’ve been recommending Global One to a lot of people based on our experience since.
We’ve been really pleased, Peter was funny and transparent and really worked to accommodate us. We had a massive job for a smaller house, with multiple roofs and an incredibly steep pitch. We also had various layers of shingles.
Peter worked with us on pricing and managing stuff in many places to make certain things (luxury items) possible for us as well.
The job was a multi crew, multi day job. Once well underway and we discovered that under multiple layers of crumbling shingles, we had original 120 year old cedar shingles. Under that were horizontal boards, spaces 8”+ apart in some places, and that was it. Basically we needed to build a whole new roof. We then discovered part of the roof of the extension was not framed in at all. Just three balancing pieces of plywood. Ouch.
The transparency continued through these discoveries. They came down, presenting us with several photos so we could see for ourselves. We were also offered the opportunity to go up and see for ourselves and they explained it all to us. They told us several different options, and they helped figure out economical ways to make it happen. I’m not naive to the materials markup etc in this or any similar industry, but I’m also aware that the crew needs to be paid for their time and hard work, as well as the work going to get these unexpected materials, so I am really appreciative when prices get reduced or a company spends time to help the client figure it out.
All in all, first day, we took a huge financial hit we didn’t expect, but they were great through the process and we are still very happy. On the plus side, the roof is much better insulated and sturdy now, so we focused on that.
When they were done for the first day, we both commented to each other that WOW these guys work HARD. They were all so kind and courteous, and literally laughed and smiled all day, despite the fact that it was a nightmare job. They had a water break at 11:15, lunch at 1:30 and other than that didn’t see a single person sit or rest from 8:15am-5:00 pm!!!! I was shocked. They cleaned up like they weren’t even here despite the fact that they were coming back the next day- I even went out and told one guy to stop sweeping my deck after they had used a magnet, blown it and done one sweep already. The work already looked amazing and we were incredibly impressed. We also noted that even after all that work and tons of complications, when the crew left they ALL (each and every one) thanked us, and said they would see us tomorrow. The crew lead said “thank you guys so much”, even. Pretty awesome.
By the end of day two, we were thrilled. It went amazingly. They are fantastic. They worked on the price with us, delivered on everything, were kind and courteous throughout. The process was great, the work is even better, we are thrilled. We highly recommend Global One.
Everything was just really so meticulously done, and we think it’s very important to note that it didn’t go off without a hitch, it wasn’t a perfect, easy job without surprises and yet the work was perfect, they made it so easy, and we are still very happy! They were not obtrusive at all despite the nature of the job and made two full days of roofing really very pleasant.
