Caution: Overestimated and overcharged for services
I was quoted ~$650 for an estimated four hours of work for two people to remove metal/wood shelves, hang paintings and mirrors, and install a light fixture. The team completed the work in 2.5 hours but I was still charged the full cost. This is particularly annoying as the original estimate was for $1,200 and so I removed scope of work to get the project costs more in line with my budget. In retrospect, I could have had the full scope of work completed in the 4 hour estimate.
I followed up with the management team and was informed that they don't charge per hour only per project unless it benefits Calgary Handyman (i.e., only charge a set hourly rate if they go over the time they think it will take to complete a project not if they complete it more quickly). This was the case even though they gave me an estimated time of 4 hours for two people.
Bottom line: while I am happy with the quality of work and the friendliness of the team, I was drastically over charged (nearly double) . I won't be using this service again and suggest that if you do you negotiate aggressively up front.
