Ted and his crew started the job on time in May, 2012 and we were very very pleased with the work that his company did for us. Our existing stoop was beginning to fall apart and, when they removed the existing decorative flagstone from it, we discovered that the whole structure was rotting and the whole thing needed to be rebuilt. This was not something we could have known until the demolition was begun. This extra work was taken in stride by Ted despite the fact that it would take longer to finish. The wiarton square cut flagstone was expertly applied to the stoop and steps and looks very beautiful. He made the landing in front of the stoop much larger and installed a brussels block walkway from the driveway to the stoop. That too, is gorgeous. We previously had an uneven, diy path in its place and Ted's path is so straight and even that I am actually looking forward to shoveling snow from an even surface this winter! His crew also built a new retaining wall right beside the stoop, running across the front of the house, to provide an elevated space for plantings. Landscaping lights were installed in that wall to illuminate the brussels block path below. Finally, new planting beds were installed in front of the stoop and path and also around a huge existing maple tree. New plants were installed as well as existing plants from my backyard were moved to the front and so far, these plants have appeared to survive the move very well. One of those plants was a Japanese Maple which are supposed to not like being moved, but so far, so good. His crew treated my plants with a great deal of care. The crew that Ted provided to us for the whole process were lovely to work with. They were polite and cheerful and always cleaned up the site at the end of the day, as much as they could. They were skilled craftsmen and took pride in their work. I work from home so I was here most of the time that they were. I never heard any crude language, they didn't smoke and they didn't blast a boombox while working here. I really appreciated all of this. Basically - they were professionals! Ted was also wonderful to work with. He is a very nice person and my husband and I were very comfortable dealing with him. I am sure we could have found someone cheaper to do the work, but I really do believe you get what you pay for. Ted knew that we were trying to keep to a budget and did his best to suggest alternatives that would be kinder to our pocket book. During the design process, I pretty much knew what I wanted, and Ted was able to take my ideas and present us with a design that was perfect for us and our property. He also made several suggestions that I had not thought of and which turned out to be great ideas. I will not hesitate to call on Hobson Landscapes for further landscaping work and I heartily recommend his company.

We found Ted on homestars and we have used him twice. If we had any more work to do we would use him again. Ted's business represents the best I have seen in terms of client / contractor relationship. He sticks to dates and stays far away from any of the bait and switch tactics I have seen from others. Do it.

They were prepared when they came to do the estimate for the work provided a written quote and details about what work needed to be done. They did the work as promised in the timeframe provided. I was impressed with how they resolved the drainage issues that we got them to come and re-sod the backyard. Very professional guys who stand behind their work. Will definitely call them in the future for any landscaping needs.

I hired Hobson Landscapes to redo my backyard last fall. The work was extensive. Ted proposed a handful of great yard designs that were well within budget and ideal for our use. By the end of the process, a new deck, fence, natural stone patio, re-sod and decorative lattice screen were put into place. I'm very satisfied with the way Hobson Landscapes worked from beginning to end. They're friendly, professional and punctual. The final result is great. I highly recommend you consider them for your project. They're really good at what they do.

Ted Hobson and his crew were reliable, excellent craftsmen, and the cleanest/neatest workmen I have had. Ted is creative and open to suggestions and feedback. His crew is self-sufficient and hard working. The job began later than expected in the season because the previous customer's project took longer than expected. My project was completed on time with no additional costs. If you want a reasonably priced and creative landscape designer hire Hobson.

This is a little late but I still wanted to write how satisfied we are with our backyard patio. We moved into our home in 2010 and was in need of replacing a collapsing fence and dislodged interlocking. We had thought about replacing it ourselves as a DIY project, but realized what a large project this would have been. We called 3 different contractors for quotes and chose Ted, not necessarily b/c he was the cheapest, just a good gut feeling. Due to a couple of delays, not b/c of Ted but b/c of my annoying neighbours, he and his workers continued on while the issues were dealt with and the project, I felt, was completed in good time. Friends and family that have loved the work and I have referred them to Ted. Now we're just hoping he comes back to complete our fence since that was a last minute change of our plans. I would have given a perfect 10 but there are a couple of things I feel I would've done differently.

We hired Ted for the second time after he did such a great job with our front yard last year. The work included: removing and rebuilding the gate in the alley; removing the concrete slabs and replacing with a combination of interlock pavers and natural stones; removing the wood deck and replacing it with a smaller wood deck and an interlock patio; removing and replacing the north fence. This was a lot of work and it took a bit longer to finish than anticipated. But in the end, we were very satisfied with the work. Working with Ted and his crew (Hi Josh!) is always very pleasant. He is very responsive and can show some flexibility. I highly recommend him!

Ted and his gentlemen were wonderful to work with. They were considerate, cleaned up after themselves, friendly and capable. We are very happy with the work completed. They worked closely with our engineering firm and the City to move our project forward in a timely manner and we will look forward to working with them again in the future.

Hobson Landscapes managed to create a fabulous outdoor living space exactly from my penciled drawing! I am not an architect, however Ted was able to see what I wanted, and make it happen. Our back yard is very small (Leaside area) and so, the deck had to have many angles in order for us to continue using the driveway for our car, our deck is fabulous. The crew worked hard and every day they worked, I came home to a clean back yard living space. They did the work, as if it was there own place. We use the deck and tumbled brick patio every day. Ted was honest and trustworthy. I have used many work crews during our renovations, and with Ted, I knew the job would get done.
