About Canada Waterproofers Welcome to Canada Waterproofers, an owner-operated waterproofing, plumbing, drainage and foundation water management company serving homeowners across Southern Ontario since 1998. For more than 27 years, our approach has remained simple: identify the real source of the problem, explain it clearly, recommend only the work that is actually necessary, complete it properly and stand behind the result. Canada Waterproofers has helped protect more than 15,000 homes and operates with a team of 20+ experienced technicians across basement waterproofing, foundation repair, plumbing, sewer and drain services, sump pumps, backwater valves, underpinning and flood prevention. We understand that water problems are rarely as simple as they first appear. A wet basement might be caused by a foundation crack, hydrostatic pressure, damaged weeping tile, poor grading, a failed sump pump, sewer backup, drainage problem or plumbing issue. That is why we focus on diagnosing the source first rather than automatically recommending the largest or most expensive repair. Our goal is not simply to sell a waterproofing or plumbing service. Our goal is to understand why the problem is happening and provide the most practical long-term solution for the home. Owner-Operated With Hands-On Expertise Canada Waterproofers is owned and operated by Carl McDowell and Slava Koval, who remain actively involved in the company, assessments, projects and quality control. Our leadership brings professional expertise across waterproofing, plumbing, drainage, foundation repair, building renovation, water damage restoration and underpinning. Carl McDowell is an Owner, Senior Waterproofing Consultant and Master Plumber with 28 years of experience listed on his professional profile. His credentials include: - Master Plumber - Ontario licensed plumber, licence #13947296 - IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician - Building Renovation Licence - Drain Layer Licence - Preferred Contractor for Halton Region Slava Koval is an Owner and Master Plumber whose qualifications include: - Master Plumber - Licensed waterproofer - Licensed building renovator - Certified water damage restoration technician - Hands-on involvement in installations and quality control This combination of plumbing, waterproofing and drainage knowledge allows our team to evaluate the entire water management system rather than looking at one isolated symptom. We Solve the Source, Not Just the Symptom One of the most important principles at Canada Waterproofers is our root-cause-first approach. Before recommending major work, we look at why water is entering or why a plumbing or drainage system is failing. For example, water at the basement wall and floor joint may involve groundwater or foundation drainage. A recurring sewer blockage may require a camera inspection rather than repeated drain snaking. A sump pump that runs constantly may be responding to another drainage problem. A foundation crack may need a targeted repair rather than a full excavation. Correct diagnosis can prevent unnecessary work and potentially save homeowners thousands of dollars. If a smaller repair can properly solve the problem, that is the solution we want our customer to understand. ##Complete Waterproofing, Plumbing and Drainage Services Canada Waterproofers provides a wide range of residential services under one experienced team, including: - Interior basement waterproofing - Exterior basement waterproofing - Basement leak repair - Foundation crack repair - Foundation drainage systems - Weeping tile installation and repair - French drain installation - Sump pump installation and replacement - Battery backup sump pump systems - Backwater valve installation - Drain cleaning and unclogging - Drain snaking - Hydro jetting - Sewer camera inspections - Sewer backup service - Sewer and drain repair - Sewer line replacement - Plumbing services - Basement underpinning - Basement lowering - Flood prevention solutions - Emergency waterproofing services - Emergency plumbing and drainage services Our ability to work across waterproofing, plumbing, sewer systems and drainage is especially valuable on complicated water problems because these systems often interact with one another. Instead of requiring homeowners to coordinate several different contractors, Canada Waterproofers can assess the broader water management problem and determine which system actually requires attention. Professional Drain and Sewer Diagnostics For recurring drain and sewer problems, guessing can become expensive. Canada Waterproofers uses modern diagnostic and service equipment including sewer camera inspections, professional drain-clearing equipment and hydro jetting where appropriate. Camera inspections can help identify problems such as: - Root intrusion - Recurring blockages - Damaged sewer pipe - Pipe deterioration - Misaligned sections - Poor drainage conditions - Obstructions inside the line The objective is to understand what is happening inside the system before recommending a major repair whenever practical. #24/7 Emergency Service Water and drainage emergencies do not always happen during regular business hours. Canada Waterproofers provides 24/7 emergency waterproofing and plumbing-related service for urgent situations involving water entry, drainage problems, sewer backups, sump pump failures and related emergencies. When water is actively entering a home or a sewer system is backing up, fast professional assessment can help limit further damage and determine the appropriate next step. ##Free On-Site Assessments and Written Estimates Canada Waterproofers offers free on-site assessments and free estimates with no obligation for qualifying services. Before work begins, our goal is to clearly explain: - What we believe is causing the problem - What repair we recommend - Why that repair is appropriate - What the project will involve - What the expected cost will be We believe homeowners should understand what they are paying for before committing to a project. ##Lifetime Transferable Warranty Qualifying Canada Waterproofers waterproofing systems are backed by a lifetime transferable warranty, subject to the applicable written warranty terms and exclusions. For homeowners, a transferable warranty provides additional long-term confidence because qualifying warranty protection can remain associated with the waterproofing system even if ownership of the home changes. We believe a waterproofing company should not disappear after the installation is complete. Long-term accountability matters. Price Match Guarantee Canada Waterproofers also offers a Price Match Guarantee for comparable work quoted by a fully licensed, WSIB-registered and insured contractor, subject to applicable terms. Price should always be considered alongside the proposed scope, materials, contractor qualifications, insurance, warranty and installation method. Our objective is to provide competitive pricing without sacrificing the quality of the repair. Licensed, Insured and WSIB-Covered Canada Waterproofers is fully licensed, insured and WSIB-covered. Our current company information includes $5 million in liability insurance coverage, helping provide additional protection and confidence for homeowners undertaking waterproofing, plumbing, drainage and foundation work. Professional licensing, insurance and WSIB coverage are especially important when work involves excavation, plumbing systems, structural components, foundation drainage or other significant parts of a home. ##Experienced In-House Crews For qualifying waterproofing services where applicable, Canada Waterproofers uses experienced in-house crews rather than subcontracting the installation. This gives us greater control over workmanship, training, project standards and accountability. Our owners and experienced team remain involved in ensuring projects are completed according to the required scope and quality standards. BBB Accredited With an A+ Rating Canada Waterproofers is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating. We have built our reputation through decades of work across waterproofing, plumbing, drainage, foundation repair and flood prevention, supported by a strong third-party review presence across HomeStars, Google, TrustedPros and other platforms. Customer reviews remain one of the most important measures of our work because they reflect the experiences of homeowners after the project has actually been completed. ##Multi-Year Award-Winning Company Canada Waterproofers has received 20+ industry awards and recognitions over the years. Our HomeStars recognition includes awards documented across multiple years, including recognition in 2017 and from 2019 through 2026. Recent HomeStars recognition includes: - HomeStars Best of the Best 2025 - HomeStars Best of Awards 2026 Canada Waterproofers was also recognized with: - Best of TrustedPros 2020 Our recognition is meaningful to us because it reflects years of consistent service rather than a single project or short period in business. Recognized Industry Expertise Our expertise has also been recognized beyond customer reviews and awards. In 2026, HomeStars consulted Carl McDowell of Canada Waterproofers as an expert for its basement waterproofing guide, providing another independent signal of the professional knowledge behind our company. Carl is also presented as a Preferred Contractor for Halton Region, supporting our long-standing experience serving homeowners throughout Oakville, Burlington, Milton and the surrounding Halton communities. ##Permit and Rebate Assistance Certain flood prevention projects, including qualifying sump pump and backwater valve installations, may involve municipal permits or rebate programs. Where applicable, Canada Waterproofers can help homeowners understand relevant permit and rebate requirements and assist with documentation related to qualifying projects. Municipal programs change over time, so eligibility should always be confirmed before work begins. ##Service Areas Across Southern Ontario Canada Waterproofers provides waterproofing, plumbing, drainage and foundation services throughout Southern Ontario.
