I have to question if he was even a licensed electrician. Obviously I should have asked to see his license. He cut the wires to shorten them when hanging the ceiling light but he didn't mark which was + or -. I assume he then connected them backwards which caused the sockets in the fixture to blow as well as the light switch. He then removed a socket from the fixture saying he would find a match so he could replace them. A subsequent electrician noted this is not allowed as it would void the CSA warranty for the fixture. The original 'electrician' broke off all contact with us regarding fixing the first light. He is no longer returning texts. The original 'electrician' also looked at our garage ceiling light. He dropped it on the garage floor smashing it to bits...so now we are out 2 fixtures. Be very careful if hiring this company!!

We purchased our home 5 years ago which had a finished basement with ceilings at a max height of 6'. We knew that we wanted to underpin and had several companies offer quotes, but we weren't comfortable with any of them until we had Daniel from True North come by to assess the property and offer a quote. Daniel was there for over an hour during his initial visit and took the time to explain the process to us, offer ideas, and point out where we may encounter issues during the process. He was incredibly thorough and personable which made us feel at ease. The quote he provided was not the lowest, but it was very detailed and included considerations for issues that sometimes come up during the underpinning process and estimates for what it may cost if we ran into those issues. The work was slightly delayed as we had to jump through an extra hoop with the city due to our property being on ravine land but once we got the permit from the city, Daniel's team was able to start work almost immediately. From day 1 the team was professional, responsible and courteous. They were on time every single day, and were kind to our young kids and our somewhat anxious dog. We were nervous about the process, but it became clear quickly that the team were experts in what they do, and they were always happy to have us come downstairs and explain what they were doing. Our house is >100 years old so we anticipated running into issues during the process, but in the end the only unforeseen issue was related to lead water pipes which were quickly identified and replaced by the team. The anticipated timeline for the project was 4-6 weeks and they finished in exactly 4 weeks. A professional and hard-working team, A+ customer service, work completed on budget and ahead of schedule. I don't know why you'd look anywhere else if you're planning an underpinning project!

After what we've been through with several plumbers in the past year (exhorbitant pricing, hidden fees, insolent attitudes and, worst of all, finding out you're dealing with an unidentifiable, unreachable company instead of the plumbers themselves), Dunkirk Plumbing & Heating was a clearly brilliant find. WATERPROOFING Tired of mopping the water in your basement? Does your basement smell of mould and mildew? Is your foundation wall retaining water slowly and deteriorating? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then the following will describe the reasons why, and how, to eliminate the problem. The cause of your basement's musty smell is because your foundation wall is retaining water, be it in the hollow block cavities or trapped behind the double brick or stone wall, as well as the water that is absorbed by the block, brick and stone. This combination causes the wall to produce mould, mildew and epharecense. The water trapped in the wall slowly deteriorates the wall, starting at the bottom.The water that makes its way into the basement through the wall and seems to cause us the most grief may not be the most concerning problem. The same problem will not occur with a solid poured concrete wall. The reason being you will find a defined crack in the solid wall that allows all the water to enter in, without retaining little, or any water.Regardless of which type of foundation you have, it can become watertight, mould and mildew-free by sealing your foundation from the OUTSIDE. With solid poured concrete foundations, you can inject the crack from the inside and the elements stay out.You must expose your foundation wall from grade level to 6" below the top of the footing. Then you must clean the wall thoroughly, exposing the deteriorated areas and cleaning all the dust and dirt from the wall. Then, restore any cracks or loose mortar joints with hydrolic cement. Cement coat the wall,Tar and install 6mm poly plastic on top. Once the wall is treated, install a 4" continuous weeping tile covered with 6 inches of 3/4" stone. Then back-fill the earth compacting at every foot. At grade level slope the earth, concrete, interlocking etc. away from the house.This method never fails. I have used this system over 13 years without fail. I have the references for you to refer to. We also have a photo album to take you step by step through the procedure.So, stop mopping! Relieve your allergies from mold and mildew and restore your foundation. When you do decide to restore your foundation do it the right way - from the outside. Remember, 40% of all my work is fixing other people's attempt to stop the water.

I first used Mud Monkeys about 24 years ago when i had flooding in our basement. I saw their truck servicing a nice house at the end of the street so had them along with two other quotes from other companies come in to assess. Darby immediately made me feel confident in their abilities. He had a down to earth and kind demeanor and made me feel that he would get the job done. He did! I never had another issue in that part of the house again. Some 15 years later we started to have water coming in at the back of the house into the basement apt kitchen. Finally it got so bad we had to call Mud Monkeys in again, This time i did not go out for a 2nd quote. Whatever the cost was going to be, i was going to pay it as i 100% trusted Darby and the quality of thier workmanship. I also really took comfort in their 20 year guarantee. They stand behind their work! I have full confidence that there will be no further flooding in our basement. I recommend Darby to everyone who asks.

I am very pleased with the work done by Joan, and I was impressed with his professionalism. I needed to have a new subfloor installed in my basement and laundry room as well as drywalling, all due to a basement leak. I posted the job on HomeStars, and Joan called me the same day to offer his assistance. He came to discuss the job and walked through the requirements with me. Throughout the inspection, he offered creative solutions. He gave me a quote later in that evening. His quote was fair, and I hired him. On the day of the job, he arrived on time and worked tirelessly until the job was complete. The project was completed as discussed and is of quality. I recommend Peak Construction and will use them again should the need arise.

We were fortunate to find Traian Stanciu to install our new Ikea kitchen. He has expertise, creativity and precision tools that are rare, compared with other installers we checked out. Listen to his advice to get full value from his years of experience. Our 100 year old house had predictable irregularities that needed correction. Traian recommended Sorin Lazar to take care of that. Another gem! There is a lot to be nervous about, choosing someone to do a kitchen reno, there are so many scammers, quick-buck artists and horror stories out there. Traian turned out to be a solid choice. Better than solid, in fact. He stepped up to help with things that were not part of the job, to keep us on schedule. Don't be put off if Traian seems a bit direct or even blunt on first meeting. It's actually a plus, because he doesn't ingratiate himself with salesy overpromises. He listens to what you want and knows how to get you there, on schedule, at a fair price.

Working with Rich and the SprinklerKings team was an excellent experience from start to finish. After installing a pool at our home in Bloor West Village, adding an irrigation system became more complicated than expected. We spoke with three other companies, but SprinklerKings stood out for their creativity, professionalism, and collaborative approach. The crew completed the front and backyard irrigation systems in one day and also added landscape lighting around the pool. Everything blended seamlessly into the existing landscaping, and the property was left spotless afterward. From consultation and pricing to installation and execution, the entire experience was smooth and professional. I would highly recommend Rich and the SprinklerKings team.
