Installing new ceiling fans and bathroom exhaust fans

We were once again very pleased with the work done by Steve and David from Rent-a-Hubby. It's the second time we've hired them and they did a great job both times. I especially appreciated Steve's advice in choosing a high capacity bathroom exhaust fan. It's worked like a charm. Now we never get foggy bathroom mirrors, or any sign of mildew. I'll definitely hire them again, when we need repairs or renovations.

    Basement Refinishing, Upstairs Refinishing

We finished our reno last october 2009 and within about 3 weeks the shower that Steve built downstairs became unusable. All of the tiles around the pan cracked and popped off because they did not use proper cement board (they used cement backer board, which is almost like drywall. It is like a sponge and turned to mush on us. He also used drywall screws to attach the improper material to the base, and they were all rusted through and brittle/broken as well. After not using the shower for about 8 months, we have had to labour over it for months to repair it ourselves in our spare time (putting proper cement board on there, re-tiling, regrouting, silicone sealing etc. etc.) as we do not have money to pay someone to come and redo it the way it was supposed to be done. Shower pan had to be completely rebuilt. We did not want to call Steve, because we did not want to deal with his denial. This is after the shower pan was built with no slope, so it didn't drain, and the tile throughout the bathroom was not leveled properly and looks like it has waves in it. I am writing this review now because I just had to invest another $800 to have someone come and re-texture the whole dining room plaster ceiling where Steve dropped a pipe through the wall on the upper floor and through this lower ceiling. Accidents happen, but Steve left it with a very crappy patch on it (after we had to ask him repeatedly to fix it), without paint etc. Looked like hell. Steve and his guys do amazing trim/woodwork, and he is a good person at heart I believe, but this shower fiasco is unacceptable and is the result of purely irresponsible workmanship. Again, I would normally call a contractor to fix the problem, but we did not trust someone who did this kind of workmanship back to come back to fix it.

Basement renovations, new stair railings, electrical work

Steve Latinsky at Rent-a-hubby did exceptional work on our house. He and his team (his son David, and contractors Douglas and Mario) arrived early each day and stayed completely on schedule with this project. They also consulted with us at every step of the way and stayed on budget. My wife and I highly recommend them!

    Basement, Bathroom and Upstairs Renovation

I was pleasantly surprised how good Steve was. His work was excellent and most importantly he was ontime and underbudget. He was very honourable and we would highly recommend him to do any job. Also his trades were very good. We enjoyed the experience and the results were fantastic.

    Basement renovation

Rent-A-Hubby did a basement renovation for us and also re-did our laundry room and garage. Work was reasonably priced and finished in a timely manner. The nice surprise was that the results exceeded our expectations on many levels. Steve went out of his way to make us happy and was a pleasure to deal with. We couldn't be happier and wholeheartedly give Rent-A-Hubby our highest recommendation.

    Basement Renovation

He was very knowledgeable re: the Building code and told us what he could and couldn't do in the basement. This gave us the confidence to go ahead and hire him. He was on time, did what he promised, cleaned up afterwards. We'd hire him again.
