Repair Gas Furnace / Forced Air Heating System
Airmakers were the first to respond. They came promptly, inspected my furnace, said it was old but in good shape, said they made some adjustments to make it more efficient. So far satisfaction.
But while the temperature outside rose, the house was noticeably colder, and the furnace noisier. It is unable to maintain the set temperature; it drops as low as 17, and then may take more than an hour to reach my set 22. After 3 weeks of this, I contacted the office. The manageress was not interested. She would send someone out only if I paid another $89. As her first comment was "How old is your furnace," I suspected that I would be told that I needed a new furnace, in spite of being told 3 weeks before that it was working well. I declined further business with Air Makers.

Answer from pro:
Our policy is clear, dear:
1. We do not recommend replacing a furnace if it is functional. If a replacement were to be pushed as you are suggesting, it would've been done on our site visit.
2. A diagnostic fee for a second visit applies only if the issue is unrelated to the first visit. If the issue continues from the original concern, no additional fee would be charged.
In this case, when the office first spoke with you, you indicated explicitly that the furnace was heating with no issues but it had not been maintained for a long time. Based on this, you were scheduled for a maintenance visit. The furnace was cleaned and confirmed to be operating normally.
When you reached out 3 weeks later with a heating disruption, we explained that a diagnostic visit would be required to identify the issue, as maintenance and diagnostic visits are distinct services, with completely different procedures.
We remain committed to assisting you. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
