    Stone fireplace

We actually had this fireplace done in Feb 2014 and while reviewing another contractor, I realized I've never written a review on Red Robin and I've used them twice! Dave and Mike are awesome and after using them for a basement floor slab at our old house, we thought to contact them to redo our fireplace. We converted an old wood-buring, granite stone fireplace to gas and wanted to redo the stone in something more contemporary. I knew I did not want veneer and they were so helpful pointing me in the right direction for real stone. We went with Masonal Stone (dover white) and decided to reuse the existing limestone hearth slab. We handled the demo of the old fireplace ourselves. The mason ( I forget his name) that Red Robin sent was absolutely lovely and you could tell from watching him work that there is a high level of skill involved with real stone...it all has to be cut, chiselled and layed by hand. And I wanted a specific pattern/style to the stone. Because of the time it takes to work the stone and lay it, things were done on different days and there were differing tones of mortar. Mike was very reassuring that there was a solution and was here quickly to even out the colouring. As you can see from the photo, the end result is stunning and timeless. We have been so happy with Red Robin and crew every time we've used them and wouldn't hesitate again in the future. They are now my go-to for any masonry type work.

Replacing brick on sides of porch

Dave provided an accurate estimate of replacing bricks from the sides of our 60yr old porch. His crew did a fantastic job and matched the bricks to the house. They were professional and finished the job on time and on budget. I highly recommend RRM. Thanks Dave!

    Tuckpointing and window sill replacement

Red Robin was prompt in replying to my email and providing a detailed and very reasonable quote. Once confirmed, they scheduled my small job as soon as the warmer spring weather allowed. A work crew of two quickly completed work to my satisfaction, and left the site clean.and the crew of

    Basement concrete slab

I contacted red robin about replacing the concrete slab of my basement floor which was 100 years old and so brittle that it was chipping and breaking away. They quoted the job quickly, were very communicative and (most importantly) did an excellent job with installation. They even came back at no extra charge to smooth out a few corners that I was worried about. They were very professional and friendly on site, and very competent. Would highly recommend them to anyone!

3 day project took 2 months 7 days + 3 returns. Never again

I find Red Robin here, on homestars. They had great reviews so I decided to hire them. I wanted to have a chimney removed and capped and the numerous broken and cracked bricks replaced, one brick in a widow still on the main floor, an old dryer vent frilled in (4 bricks), and a bunch of bricks on my exterior stairs replaced, as they were spalling. Job started June 5th and was "completed" (notice the quotes) on June 11th. After inspecting part of the work on June 12th I noticed that there were several bricks, that were clearly damaged and should have been replaced under the contract. I sent an email to Red Robin, then I sent another informing them that the obviously damage bricks were missed and needed to be replaced. On June 13th I received a reply informing me that they will have a crew back to my house on June 17th to replace the bricks that were missed. Crew arrived on June 17th, they started and then it began to rain, so they packed up and left. The problem here is that they never informed the "managers" that they didn't compete the work. I contacted the company again to see what the issue was. I was told that a crew would return on July 6th to replace the bricks that the crew that came to replace the bricks missed the first time... So this will be the third time they've had to come back. July 6th comes, crew shows up, does some work and leaves.. I go out to inspect the work and.... Low and behold, they STILL didn't replace all the bricks that needed to be replaced. On top of this, I noticed several bricks were missed along the exterior stairs. I sent more emails informing them that what is going on is utterly ridiculous and that the job needs to be completed as the contract states. Well I was informed that the work would have to be completed at a later date because their crews were all scheduled, which I found to be completely unprofessional as it's already been a month for a 3 day job. After the phone call I received on July 8th or 9th starting crews were booked I never heard back from them until August 13th, this is now well over 2 months from the project start. This time I marked the bricks that needed to be replaced. Crew replaced the bricks. At this point there were still bricks missed but I had had enough and wanted to be done with the company. I haven't even mentioned the mortar that was on my siding, window and in the chimney bricks... Needless to say I am not even remotely impressed with the behavior of the company. I found the work ethic and professionalism to be completely substandard. I would not hire them again, not would I recommend them to anyone. I would have been happier with the whole situation if they had at least offered some small compensation for the complete inconvenience the job entailed.

Real Stone veneers on Pillars & Foundation

After looking at several companies, Red Robin has by far been the most responsive and accommodating to my questions and needs regarding work on the front of my house. I have been working with them for over 3 months trying to choose stone options for the front of my 100 Year old house in roncesvalles village. John came out right away and priced out the work we wanted on the house. He gave me a quote within a couple of days, which was very competitive with the other offers we had. We have decided to work with Red Robin and have ordered a Stone Selex natural stone veneer product to install over top of the brick pillars on the front of the house (not the same as original brick) as well as along the foundation of the house (currently cinder blocks). We are still awaiting installation when the product arrives, but are happy with the service from Red Robin thus far, and look forward to the finished product. See before photos, stay tuned for after!

Rebuild porch brick pillar, repair hole in basement wall left by rotting beam and tuck pointing the foundation.

Red Robin did several small jobs for us. They took down, dug and poured a foundation and rebuilt our porch brick pillar up to original height of about 6 feet. It looks great and cleared permit inspection. The tuck pointing on the foundation was thorough and also looks good. The repair in the basement was completed on a separate day at our convenience as we had other work to do before they could come. All the work is very neat and the crew were friendly. They cleaned the sites well after the work was done. We still need our front wall tuck pointed, so I will use Red Robin Masonry again. THANKS!

    Fantastic Company All Around!!!

The beginning: Right from the get go our experience with Red Robin Masonry was top notch. This project was the first for my wife and I on our first home so we got several quotes (probably a few too many). When John (I think his name was) showed up for the quote he was very helpful in explaining the damage, the causes, the consequences of neglecting it further, the process of repairing it and our options to do so. And best of all Red Robin's quote was competitive. The job: We needed to replace 100 bricks on one wall and maybe 10 on another that had deteriorated do to weather/water damage. We also wanted to do a coverup/patch job on the threshold of our walk-out sliding door (John did explain that the threshold would only be a temporary fix. We plan to do a full repair when the door is replaced). The Work: Wow. It's perfect! I don't know what else to say. Dave (owner operator) and two of his employees showed up on time on the day of. They ran through the job with me before I left for work. Once again explaining everything. I forget the employees names but they were both amazing! They were friendly and didn't get annoyed when I wanted to watch them work and ask a ton of questions. All around nice guys. Payment: I tried to pay Dave at the end of the day. He laughed and said "You haven't even seen the work yet. Give it a couple days. If you're happy with the work give me a call and we'll arrange payment." I called him the next night and paid over the phone. I firmly believe that you get what you pay for. I am completely satisfied with Red Robin Masonry as a company and would use them again. I have actually recommended them to several people who have used them for small and large jobs and each of them were very satisfied as well. Thank you John, Dave and the Team at Red Robin. I have attached a before and after photo of the one wall...

Tear-down and Rebuild of Porch and Steps

My wife and I are ecstatic about the finished job for our front porch and steps. The final product was better than we had envisioned. We had Red Robin Masonry remove old tiles on our porch and steps, and remove the brick wall that surrounded the porch and steps. They then installed one piece sandstone steps, and random size sandstone tiles on the porch. In addition, they conducted brick replacement, tuck pointing, and parging in other parts of our house. The actual work was performed by Fiaz and Cody. Over five days they took care to allow me input at critical junctures. They arrived early each morning, and stayed late enough to keep the project on time. There were frequent deliveries of supplies, and equally frequent pick-up of waste material that kept our site clean. I took get care to visit several Red Robin work sites, and the experience ultimately provided me with the material and design elements that were excellently incorporated into our job.
