    Parging chimney and adjacent walls

I contacted Dave at Red Robin as one of 6 quotes for chimney parging and repairs to the adjacent walls where mortar was falling out on my 50 year old home. When I met Dave at my home for the quote process, his first remark was that they would make certain to take very good care of the beautiful wooden patio which sits under the chimney area. That pretty much sold me right there! Dave's quote was the best of the 6, and the work was scheduled within one week. Mike and Jeff were here most of the day and did a fantastic job repairing ALL of the loose mortar as well as helping me out by putting a special cover over the "fake" chimney flue next to the real one (which did have a cap on it). I was MUCH appreciative, as I can't get up onto roofs anymore. Dave is in almost immediate contact with you for any questions or concerns ,either by phone or email, before, during and after completion of the job. THAT is AMAZING and RARE service !! Not only were Dave and Jeff efficient, neat, professional and concerned with meticulous clean up, they were just down to earth great guys. The day was cold, very windy, and even threw in a bit of drizzly rain/snow. They were not going to leave until I was satisfied with every aspect of the job. It was done as perfectly as I could ever have expected it to be. Great work, and thank you for such efficient service! I highly recommend Red Robin Masonry and would have them back in a wink.

    Repairing stone steps

Our front porch is a nice older structure made of stone with a cold room underneath. Last year we had major leak during heavy rains, with water gushing into the cold room and we realized some repairs to the porch were badly needed. We had quotes from a few different companies, but Red Robin was the cheapest and most professional. Mike came out with a helper as scheduled and got started on the job which involved tuckpointing the stone surface and brick all around the porch. Unfortunately, various rain delays meant the job wasn't done until it was close to winter. Also, the work was made more complicated since someone had tried in the past to patch up the surface joints with concrete instead of mortar, and some stones had to be removed completely and reinserted since they were coming loose. There were still some minor cracks to deal with by the time winter set in, but they were mostly cosmetic and the cold room stayed dry. Now, the work done was exceptional, but what really makes me give Mike and Red Robin a perfect 10 is the follow-up this spring to get the work completed. I had expected to have to hunt them down to come and finish up, but instead they were the ones hunting me down! I wasn't always the easiest person to get a hold of, but Mike kept at it through e-mails and phone calls and finally we managed to set a suitable time when the sun also happened to shine and the work is now completed. I would definitely use Red Robin again and I have recommended them to all my friends. I completely trust their professionalism and integrity and I know that they just won't quit until the job is done right.

    Masonry repair and door installation

I have hired Red Robin twice now. The first job involved replacing several damaged bricks around the front of our home. Business owners Mike and Dave came by to review the job, and from the kind of information they were sharing, it was clear they are masonry experts. This proved true on the job itself - Mike did a great job, paying attention to the structural integrity of our home along with the aesthetics of the job. The second job was trickier - I needed a new door installed, but it involved rebuilding the structural support of the wall around it, including installing a new lintel. In spite of a few surprises along the way - only apparent once Mike took some of the material out - Mike made it all work. I'm confident that we have strong structural support and a well-installed door. Mike and Dave are always friendly and professional, they work hard and they finish the job quickly. They've done a lot to improve the energy efficiency and strength of our home. I'd absolutely recommend them!

    Venting holes

I contacted Red Robin for to drill/patch a few venting holes. I was on a tight timeline, and Mike was very prompt in getting me a quote, walking me through the process and doing the job. As he completed the job, he paid great attention to detail and we were very satisfied with the job. Thanks Mike. We will definitely use Mike/Red Robin in the future.

    Parging, brick replacement, tuck pointing

We had just a small job for Red Robin but they still applied every level of professionalism. They did their work quickly and capably. They made use of a few old bricks that were in the garage, which saved us a few dollars. And they cleaned up very well afterward which is shows their thoroughness. I'd absolutely call them back again.

    French Door Opening

We hired Mike to close in an existing door, and replace a window with an opening for French Doors. The finished product is absolutely superb. Things didn't go exactly to plan, and the opening was 1" too short. I think the real test of a contractor is how they handle adversity, and Mike did not disappoint - he called in some extra help and fixed the oversight, no questions asked. Months later, he arrived in the pouring rain when we had a leak and tuckpointed the area well above where he worked - he wasn't even sure the cracks were caused by his work, but did it anyway. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - not only a great finished product, but a great person as well. We'll see you in the summer for some more masonary work!

    Chimney Replacement

We have a small bungalow in Etobicoke. For some time we noticed the mortar crumbling on our chimney. We decided to have the chimney replaced this fall. Mike and Dave came by to have a look at the work and provided us with a very reasonable quote. They gave us great service, were very friendly and did everything on time. I highly recommend the Red Robin Team! P.S. To Mike and the team, Bill says he thinks he’ll be able to do it himself next time, lol. Rebecca from Etobicoke

Decorative Concrete Patio, parging, stair repair & landscaping and backyard leveling

This past summer/fall we had an old, broken and frankly, dangerous, concrete slab patio ripped out and a decorative concrete patio put in it's place. We also had numerous repairs done to our concrete stairs in the backyard which were cracked and crumbling in places due to water damage. We called 3 of the top masonry contractors listed in HomeStars and Red Robin came out the winner. They not only came promptly, but they also had the most reasonable quote and were able to give us a timeline of when they could start and sounded like they really knew what they were doing. Mike,Dave and crew arrived as promised, and although there were many rain delays, they completed the job. They were professional, courteous and true craftsmen. We would hire them again in a flash and are so please with their work and our beautiful backyard which we will finally be able to enjoy this summer. *Earlier this winter, part of our fence in front of an area Red Robin worked on in the fall blew down into the neighbours yard. We called Mike and he was here on a Saturday morning(!!)in freezing temperatures and to fix it, no questions asked. Amazing.

Brick replacement on house and garage

We live in a 1945 bungalow and the brick at the rear side of our garage was deteriorating partly due to a leaking garage roof. Dave and a helper came out to replace the crumbling bricks. Luckily we had enough original bricks left over from the chimney we had rebuilt. Their quote was very reasonable so we also had them replace several of the crumbling bricks on the house and repair some large cracks in the mortar. They worked diligently in very cold temperatures and completed the job in roughly 3 1/2 days. The final price was as quoted. Dave and Mike were both very professional and pleasant to deal with. They took away the left over bricks at no extra charge and were very respectful of the state they left our property They also provided us with a detailed invoice so we could claim the Renovation Tax Credit.
