    Leasehold Improvements

    Our company assumed a new commercial property, which was a new build and essentially a shell edifice with bare cinderblock walls and a gravel pit floor. FCI Mississauga coordinated the entire project, from Hvac and electrical, right through to carpentry, painting and finish work. Jason and his team were amazing to work with. Unforeseen challenges always arise on jobs like this, and I'm so glad that we had true PROS on hand to navigate these situations for us. Their experience also helped us to avoid other costly, common mistakes, saving us time and money. They seem to have a good relationship with their network of trades, which makes coordinating schedules much easier and enstills a level of trust not always seen in the industry. The project was completed 2019, on time and amazingly close to budget. - Would certainly recommend!!!

    Finished basement, painting, patio and front steps

    When my partner and I separated, we needed to quickly make some improvements to our family home to get it ready to sell. Jason and his team coordinated the minor reno’s quickly and at a reasonable price. When I purchased my new home, Jason and Claudio coordinated a number of improvements including kitchen counters, carpet throughout, painting throughout, full finished basement, patio/deck and front stairs. From the beginning, when we chose the materials, I found them to be honest, great advice and reliable. The work was done on time and on budget. They communicated with me throughout, and kept the work site very clean. I was extremely happy with the overall experience and love the work they did - my house is exactly what I was hoping for. I would absolutely reach out to FCI again for any new projects.

    Great service and quality

    I’ve hired these guys for quite a few jobs over the last 10 years, they never disappoint me. Jason and Claudio are always honest and offer the best options for whatever work I need done. They have installed hardwood in my entire old home, and refinished a bathroom in my new home. Always on budget and timely. I would never hesitate to recommend.

    New staircase and entrance tiles

    Overall the work was well done. Just a word o& caution, do not be taken by the videos that they show you before you sign the contract. Also be aware that you will have to pay 40% down before the work begins which I think it’s a little bit much as other famous contractors have charged 10 or 20% upfront but not 40%. The staircase was beautifully done, however the top riser was 1 1/4” shorter than the rest. When we asked Claudio and Chris why was that different, they said that they were still within building code even though Chris had informed us before taking the job that the stair risers had to be exactly the same size for safety reasons as the ones that we had originally were not. Hence, replace the staircase. As for replacing the entrance tiles, the workers did not bother covering anything while working and so the dust was all over our furniture, our bran new hardwood floor and even our bedrooms. When asked about the mess, we were told “ well, you have to understand this is construction, and construction is messy.” The reason I mentioned the video at the beginning of my text is because in the video,they mentioned so many times on their cleanliness and how they cover everything, but in reality, none of this was done. One last thing, if you are a person into detail ,then you will have to constantly on their back to ask them to come and fix things after the fact. Both of us work, and when we hire contractors to come and do the work, we don’t think we should be constantly reminding them to finish their work properly. They are the professionals and they should know better. But, I have to say that whenever I contacted Chris and asked him about something that was not finished that he would come the next morning and fix it. He was very helpful in all of our requests and tried to work with us with what he was able to do. But I definitely did not think that Chris was in any way the problem, but I think it had to do with the rest of the team and contractors that he were working with him.

    John Thank you for taking the time to respond and review our work on Home Stars. We at Floor Coverings International Mississauga take pride in our workmanship and strive to treat each home as our own. Had we taken the project on from the beginning the scope of work, would have been done differently. As a result of removing the existing ceramic tiles it was difficult to control the dust, and we regretfully did not use the plastic to cover off the entire main floor. We offered to send in a cleaning crew, but your wife was generous enough to clean up the dust, which we appreciate and hopefully mitigated with flowers. With regards to your stairs, since the staircase was being built and installed to fit the landing to the basement floor, we had to work with the space available (length, height and ceiling clearance) and make it as close to spec as possible but the first step is the one that has to be adjusted to fit these requirements which is what happened in your case. The work projected was scheduled for a time frame of 3 weeks. Our crews work to finish the job each day to allow the next phase to be completed. For example after tile install you allow time for drying before grouting. In order not to disturb the home owners we provided a lock box and key. We spoke daily with John to reassure him that all work was being completed in a professional manor, and to advise him of the next steps. With regards to deposits, Home Depot, Rona, and Lowes all require all goods and install to be paid fully before the work can even be scheduled. Kitchen and window companies require 50% in advance with 40% on delivery and 10% on completion. We as a flooring company have operated for 10 years with a 40% deposit structure and it’s generally standard in our industry. Thank you Chris

    They did a good job, came when promised, work done quickly, and cleaned site well. Reasonable price.

    Carpet installation

    I have used FCI on two separate projects this year, and on both occasions the experience was a completely satisfying one. Dealing with Jason to set up the scheme of work is always a pleasure. He is pleasant, efficient and professional. The team of installers who came to do the work did an outstanding job and the carpets all looked amazing when finished. The crew was efficient and careful of the surrounding areas, and left the house very clean when they were finished. I would not hesitate to recommend FCI, and will use them again in the future.

    Living room

    Kept good timing. Moved away all debris asap. Laying of the floor was excellent.superb craftsmanship.good manners.listned to all my concerns and advised accordingly. Will use them if opportunity presents itself.

    They should have their own renovation show!

    As our renovation has come to an end, my partner and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jason, Claudio and their crew for all their work on getting our new condo ready. After hearing so many nightmare stories about home renovations, and personally experienced with one initially, the FCI team came to our rescue half way through our project and has illustrated nothing but the greatest professionalism. It's difficult to find a good contractor these days, especially during this crazy Toronto housing boom. So for those who found one, they would generally like to keep them a secret. In this case though, I think they deserve a proper recognition. They were simply amazing. And if HGTV is looking for a new host for their next reno show, they should definitely audition Jason and Claudio.

    Hardwood Flooring, Carpeting

    This is the second time I've used FCI Mississauga for a major flooring renovation. Jason from FCI is incredibly knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. A few times he even talked me out of a more expensive option for something that was much more cost effective. We've had them replace floors with both solid and engineered hardwood, carpeted one floor, completely refinish existing stairs, and do a gorgeous install of a runner. They also refaced my fireplace wall with a very time-intensive and complicated facing, as well as provided a fantastic granite hearth. In addition, they were able to recommend and coordinate with skilled contractors to finish a large amount stair railings/spindles/posts as well glasswork. In fact, Jason's input on pretty much every aspect of our renovation was invaluable. Claudio did the actual install, and is very skilled and professional. Everything was done on time and on budget. In terms of price comparison, they came in competitive, if not lower, than all other quotes I took. After the job was finished, they returned several times to make the smallest changes to meet my rather exacting standards. Quality of the work is perfect. I'm definitely going to use FCI again in the future, and am always recommending them to family and friends. A pleasure to work with, and we enjoy the results every day!
