Review from HomeOwner Review left on 24 May 2011Rating: 5 out of 5Tayt and his crew provided professional service, it was timely and clean. Job started on a Tuesday morning and was completed by Friday afternoon of the same week. The finished project exceeded my hopes, it was skillfully done and looked beautiful. Tayt's estimate was $2000 less than the other Airdrie company who came out, and the job was completed within the price I was quoted. I would happily recommend this company to others.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Review left on 1 Mar 2011Rating: 5 out of 5Basement Renovation
Purdy Renovations transformed our unfinished basement into one of our favourite spots in our house. Tayt and his team spend approximately 6 wks building a bedroom, rec room, full bathroom and gym area. The finished product exceeded our expectations. Tayt and his team brought a variety of knowledge and experience to the job and gave suggestions for the finishing work that made a huge difference in the overall look of our basement. Tayt's crew were professional and polite while working in our home. All crew members kept me up to date on the progress throughout the project and advised me ahead of time what tasks were planned for the following day; Something I appreciated as a mother of a young child because I could make plans outside the home on days when the construction was going to be loud or painting/staining was going occur. I would recommend this company for their professional work and fair pricing.Answer from pro:
It has been great working with you and your family. We are very happy that you are enjoying your finished basement! Thanks so much for your feedback. Tayt

Review left on 18 Dec 2010Rating: 4 out of 5Garage eavestrough/insulation/drywall project
I RECENTLY MOVED INTO THIS HOUSE AND IN THE BACK YARD WAS AN UNFINISHED GARAGE. THE PREVIOUS OWNER LEFT SOME OF THE MATERIALS TO COMPLETE THE JOB. PURDY RENO'S CAME INTO COMPLETE THE WORK. WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE WAS: INSULATE/VAPOUR BARRIER CEILING, DRYWALL ENTIRE GARAGE, TAPE/MUD/SAND AND PUT ON PRIMER COAT OF PAINT. I ALSO HAD THEM INSTALL THE EAVESTROUGH WITH THE MATERIALS LEFT BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. PURDY RENOVATIONS DID AN EXCELLENT JOB FOR ME THAT WAS ON TIME AND ON BUDGET. I DID END UP SPENDING A LITTLE MORE MONEY BECAUSE OF THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS.....USING SPRAY IN INSULATION IN THE CEILING INSTEAD OF REGULAR INSULATION. I AM THE KIND OF PERSON THAT DOESN'T MIND SPENDING A LITTLE EXTRA $ TO HAVE THE JOB DONE RIGHT. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH PURDY'S PROFESSIONALISM AND WILL BE USING THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE AND ALSO WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND THEM TO MY NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY.Answer from pro:
Thank you for providing your feedback. We truly enjoyed completing your project and hope that you have a great space for your bikes. Tayt Purdy

Review left on 6 Dec 2010Rating: 1 out of 5Drywalling new basement development
Tayt came over to quote the job and spoke a good game, citing years of experience, trade acronyms, and tips he knew of to facilitate a job of this type. He stated they worked on one job at a time which meant our job would be done in a week instead of the 2 weeks everyone else who leapfrogged multiple jobs at a time were quoting. He was pleasant, prompt and professional. They began the job a week earlier than originally agreed to take on a coupel small additonal jobs for us as well; installing MDF window casings and boxing in the stairs for drywall. They started on time, but didn't bother to tell me not to remove a window in order to get 54" wide board into the basement. Removing the window took me a half day as I'd never done it, and now requires re-parging. they used 48" board which shocked me on the first day. Whatever. They had a good approach to a couple tough "spots" to drywall, but their finishing was poor. They had someone over for many, many extra hours to get the finishing to a level which was still only what I could have done myself. then we noticed entire seams showing through mud, cutouts which are so large that electrical outlet tabs have ntohing to rest against ot spaces so large that mud is required to not have gaps between the wall and decora plates, assumptions about where baseboard would be placed resulting in sloppy finishing against stairs and a shower base and window casings which stick out from the wall so far I'll have to rent a planer. The work was done within the specified contract window(2 weeks as opposed to the 1 week verbally put out), but on the last day of work our house key was left on top of a final invoice inside the house; no final walk- through was done with us. Overall it's not quite a hack job but unless they're the cheapest quote you receive I wouldn't reccomend them. It's no better than the average handyman could do themself, only faster if you have to work during the day. Followup to job completion- Feb.8/11 I'm not quite sure where to start. After fully paying out the contract and fufilling our end of it, we were unhappy with how Purdy Renos left our basement (visible seams, holes cut too large for junction boxes, wavy corners etc. We called Tayt back and all of a sudden an owner/operator has a customer service manager?!? This was on top of him hiring an independant drywaller to provide guidance to them? Hmm. He walked around our basement uttering "Oh my God, what did they do to your basement?" and "This really needs an entire re coat. I wouldn't be satisfied with this." Hmm again. Anyway, when the CSM got around to calling us we found the worst violations, drew them up and made arrangements to fix them. His CSM told me stories of past employees poviding them with bad information how to drywall. Wait- what about all those years of experience you quoted having? Must not have been in drywall. Some of thre problems got fixed, some didn't. Some are worse than when they began (the hole for the light over the shower was cut sloppily, and has a large flap of drywall paper which seperated from the gypsum, and now has some sort of 'gorilla mud' on it too?). Some of the patches never got sanded. It took me 4 days after the CSM was supposed to contact us and have a walk-through, when Tayt returned my calls stating "We're done". What? Where did 'Mr. Contract' go? What happened to "I'm not THAT contractor, Kevin. I promise you will be happy with this job when I leave, or I'll do whatever it takes to make you happy"? He went as far as telling me I had to finish sanding the repairs myself. I had indicated there were more (I'm STILL finding clearly visible seams, cracks, and 'swiss cheese holes' every time I go down there) and he said he would not return to correct any defects. SO I have a basement that looks like a group of overly ambitious teenagers completed it which I'm embarrsed to take people into, and a signed contract from Purdy Renovations to substitute for toilet paper. He makes excuse after excuse "I have an email stating you're happy with it". Yes- from before completion. And "You waited almost 2 months to tell me". SO? 1) I emailed immediately afterwards and your wife resonded that you would use my listed deficiencies at that time to improve in the future, and 2) You have a 1 year guarantee. The ONLY thing that should matter is a customer told him politley and clearly that they are not happy, and he refused to correct it. People like this should not be allowed to do business. We're SO bitterly dissapointed. And if you read this Tayt, I gave you those cigars because during our talks, I said I would. Not because I was happy with the job. My word means something to me. I guess that's not the case for everyone.Answer from pro:
At Purdy Renovations customer service is a priority. We pride ourselves on our efficiency and our ability to get projects completed on time and on budget. We are firm believers in customer transparency. We have our contact information posted on our website and are available 24 hours a day as a family owned and operated business to discuss concerns. Moving forward we are developing a What To Expect During Your Home Renovation Guide to provide our customers during their renovation process which you indicated would be a good idea. During your project we had many conversations about the process and discussed your questions and concerns openly. You had the opportunity to identify all areas of deficiencies and we corrected them. Upon project completion we believed that you were satisfied with the job especially given that you provided us with four cuban cigars as thanks. I had planned to complete a final walk through when I came to receive your payment however you were unavailable to meet with me in person and instead left the cheque on your front porch in an envelope for me to pick up. We are happy that your experience with us was pleasant, prompt and professional but are disappointed to hear that your experience was overall negative. Please contact me with a time that is good for us to sit down to discuss your concerns further. Tayt Purdy

We added a door to our bonus room. For us customer service is very important after being burned so many times. Tayt ensured that he would get back to us when he said he would which says alot about a contractor. His trades workers are very good at what they do and take pride in their workmanship and it shows. I would highly recommend Purdy Renovations. Thanks.Answer from pro:
Thanks so much for the positive review Josee! It was great working with you. Tayt

Tayt and the whole crew were exceptional from start to finish. Some of the construction highlights include: -Adherence to budget -The crew really strove to understand the goal of the project and provided helpful design advice along the way. -Purdy Renovations committed themselves to completing the job on time. They were there almost every day until the project was completed, ensuring a much shorter turnaround as compared to other estimates. -Attention to detail was impressive. Every aspect of the job was well thought out. -Tile work was impressive and creative. -The initial quote was much more detailed than other estimates. This gave us a lot of confidence in their ability to deliver. -Everyone was very considerate of our family schedule and yappy dog. We have already contracted Purdy Renovations to do our next project. Purdy will be very busy as they deliver exceptional value. Book your project before Purdy is no longer Calgary/Airdrie's best kept secret.Answer from pro:
Clint, it's been great working with you on your basement development. Thanks so much for your kind words and can't wait to get started on your next project! Tayt
