    Residential Shoring

I needed to have a small (25') shoring job done in my backyard as my excavation was extremely close to my neighbour's house. Lorenzo came strongly recommended and I was not disappointed: he and his team got the job done cleanly, safely, and efficiently in two days. The job also involved some creative problem solving as everything was quite tight. I couldn't really see the quality of the work until two weeks later when the whole area was finally excavated revealing a beautiful job, as you can see in the pictures. Too bad that it will be hidden by my construction!

    excavation and shoring

Needed to excavate a hill off a laneway behind my house to build a garage with a basement below. Needed extensive shoring to protect the neighbours' property and the public lane. Found Lorenzo on HomeStars. Excellent work. Excellent attitude. On time. On budget. Honest. Excellent crew with years of experience. Good with nervous neighbours. His shoring was precise, neat and the city inspector was completely satisfied. If you have excavation / shoring Reekon should be your first call.

    Cleaning/Excavating a crawl space

We needed to excavate under a crawl space area through the basement wall. We had several other contractors to take a look and they generally took measurements and gave us a cost. Lorenzo was extremely knowledgeable and consultative when he came over to investigate the problem. He was the only one who asked enough questions to understand why we wanted it excavated - we needed to be able to get a person inside to do some insulation and ducting work. In doing this, Lorenzo figured out a way to approach the job to do what we needed without going overboard. He was great in talking to me about all the possibilities and had good recommendations and ideas. Lorenzo thoughtfully talked me through several best and worst case alternatives with rough estimates for cost for each. We agreed to start small and see what we uncovered as the work occurred - and I was ready for trouble. During the work, we had a few delays, where the start date needed to be pushed a couple of times. Lorenzo would let us know by text message or phone call, sometimes well in advance, sometimes with little notice. This wasn't perfect, but was understandable given the crazy winter weather, and, honestly, better communication than many others. In the end, the work he did turned out to be straightforward - even better than the best case scenario. He reduced his price from his quote - how awesome! I'm glad he was there in case we uncovered structural issues, which we didn't. We didn't need to do any concrete work in the end, so we can't comment on his team's concrete workmanship. However, based in our experience, I'd happily recommend Lorenzo and Reekon. Lorenzo's thoughtful approach in figuring out exactly what we *really* needed meant we didn't have to do more work than I needed to, and it saved a lot of time, hassle, and money!

    Basement excavation

I have an interesting coach house from the 1800s, with a more interesting basement. From a previous demolition, they had dug up all the dirt, rubble and concrete and instead of getting rid of it, decided to move it to the other side of the room, and blocked it off with drywall. Lorenzo was great, and offered a quick and easy solution, at a comparable rate to get rid of the dirt and concrete. Others had suggested to dig a hole in the wall, to remove the dirt, that would take days up to a week. Lorenzo was very knowledgable and offered a solution, bringing in a giant truck, with a hose and basically vaccum out the dirt. It took approx 6 hours, instead of a weeks worth of work. Lorenzo and his team have been great to deal with, he goes above and beyond. Very knowledgable in all areas, I continue to use his expertise in other areas of my basement. I have already recommended him to a friend, that is also very happy with his work. Highly recommend with very reasonable quotes.

    Back extension skirting

We had a sort of of an odd job: removing wooden skirting around the bottom of the back extension to our house, built on an old deck structure, and then building a new skirting/pseudo foundation wall out of concrete brick. Lorenzo not only gave us the most reasonable quote, was willing and able to adjust it a couple times based on our needs, and then he and his crew did a great job. I would definitely recommend him to others and plan on having him back to do more work in our house next year. The only small criticism I have is that it took longer than expected to complete the work.

    Retaining Wall for Backyard

We required a 6 foot high by 30 feet long retaining wall for our backyard based on engineered drawings. After consulting with several contractors we selected Reekon Excavating. Our selection criteria included professionalism, effective communication, experince with our lagging/shoring design, and consideration of our neighbours as most of the work would be executed from a laneway that is the only access to their homes. Lorenzo and and the team at Reekon delivered on all of these. From our first meeting Lorenzo was on time for meetings, discussed each step of the process and took into consideration our ideas on how we would like the work to be completed. Progress was communicated multiple times a day during the construction and the job was completed on time as promised. Feedback from the neighbours was extremely positive as the job site was kept clean and equipment was moved in an orderly fashion. We would highly recommend Reekon Excavation.

Hi Scott, It was a great pleasure to work on your backyard/lane way. We didn't have the best of weather, but all in all it came out great, and your fencing and sodding really topped it well. Reekon Excavation and Shoring at your service, Ciao for now, and I hope the primer paint was a match.

Complete addition ground work and foundations

Hi I'm very well pleased with their minor details in workmanship in both structural and safety precautions concerning the whole job.Over emphasizing on city bylaw codes over exceeded codes by 50 % in certain areas where the engineers and architects did not see, many things were pointed out to them and I , thanks
