No show 5 times to complete work. Consumer protection act required to recover deposit.

Owner gave us a quote in September to install a hot water rad to our existing rad system, swap out black iron pipes for copper ones, add a gas line for an outdoor bbq, add a hot water line to our washer, etc. Deposit ($3966) was made on September 13th 2022 with an agreement that he would start work on October 12th. On days where work was to be completed, he was a no show with no call to advise he couldn't make it. As of now, there have been 5 days where we stayed home anticipating him showing up and not even getting a courtesy call that he couldn't make it. Have been trying to reach him since to establish an appropriate alternative, only to be delayed further. He is now not answering text messages or calls for the past week despite the last contact stating we'd work something out. At a loss of words at how disappointed we are. We are now looking into legal action to get our deposit returned. Do better, your customers deserve it.

Hello, Sorry for the poor experience. We have made the necessary adjustments to avoid instances like this moving forward. Thank you for your patience in returning the materials purchased. We hope a solution was found for the asbestos on the piping. Your refund was completed in full in May 2023.

    AC Project

Ben @ Shads was great to speak with, super quick and very accommodating, coming the same day. He took the time to explain the process and potential issue. He followed up via text to check how it worked out. 10/10 experience and would absolutely call up Shads if I have any other issues.

    Furnace and fireplace service

Shad’s did our annual furnace, humidifier and fireplace check and cleaning. Tour technician was prompt and did a great job. A coupe of days later our fireplace starter button broke and he came back to take a look at it, had to order a part for our very old unit, and came back to replace it for us. we were very happy with the service.

    Furnace and fireplace maintenance

Professional, prompt, friendly. I really appreciated the attention to detail on repositioning the fireplace "embers" to give the flames a more realistic effect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TEAM!!!

    A/C repair

We called Shad's to take a look at our 30+ year old A/C unit that had stopped working, fully expecting that it would need to be replaced. Ben tried a couple of different parts, worked on it for a while, and managed to fix it. He told us that it's still a good unit and that he's happy to just repair something if it can be done. I was impressed, and very happy to have a $375 bill instead of spending thousands on a new unit. We would gladly call Shad's again.

    Above and Beyond

We just moved into a very old house, which will require plenty of work. The first project was the AC unit for the coach house. We had a few hvac folks pop by, Ben’s pricing was the best and his friendliness and professionalism was head and shoulders above the rest. I appreciate his deep knowledge and guidance as we continue work on the main house. On another note, our maim house furnace was having issues and Ben made time in his busy schedule to pop by for a diagnostic. Top notch service!

    New Air Conditioner

Ben and his team are amazing. We had our new A/C installed today not only is Ben fair but he is a true pro. The work itself is clean and the workplace was spotless after they were done. I am a contractor and this work was being done on my personal home. This was our first time using Ben but it definitely won't be the last. I will be doing business with him in the future. Highly Recommended!!

    Best Duct work in Ontario

Karnik is an amazing guy, from the start he explained how he does business upfront and honest, without any cat and mouse games like a lot of these guys out there. We were very satisfied with Ben and Chris installing ductwork in our basement. They are amazing and kind guys. They did a phenomenal job keeping us abreast of what was the plan for each day, they cleaned up after themselves, ran a tight ship and kept things orderly which we appreciated. They had respect for our belongings when moving things around to access certain points of the basement, which we are appreciative for. We highly recommend Shad's Heating and Cooling for any heating and cooling /vent work to be installed. Clean job (taped off the joints between vents so no air leakage). These are the go-to guys for all things heating and cooling. I can't say enough about how great of a job they did and how satisfied we are with the end product to heat up our house. We took out all the radiators to install vent work for propane to save on our heating costs for our family. Shad's Heating and Cooling was very understanding, and delivered. Most importantly, it's their character I appreciated most, of all 3 men. Kind, honest, hard-working, clean professional job.

    Hot Water Tank Issues

Hands down, Ben at Shads Heating & Air is the most honest, reliable and knowledgeable expect in his field. We had an few issues/concerns with our old hot water tank that had me worried, but Ben was quick to explain what was happening and came by quickly to service it. The old tank was literally dying a slow death and needed to be replaced, as well as new venting was required to fit with current codes. Upgrading the unit has given us endless amounts of hot water and much peace of mind. Ben also noticed the location of the old tank in our small furnace/laundry room. He suggested we relocate it within the room, which gave us more space to do our laundry. We can honestly say that were more than impressed with the efficient service, the quick response time as well as his expertise and recommendations. We have already booked a date with him to service our furnace to prepare for the coming winter season. I wholeheartedly recommend Shads Heating & Air, your won’t be disappointed.

    Banging pipes

I noticed my water pipes were making banging sounds and thought I had a water hammer problem. I reached out to Ben to install a water hammer eliminator and upon inspection he told me that it wasn't a water hammer issue and instead it was my hot water line expanding. He noticed that in certain places it was too tight up against the floor joists and didn't have room to expand. He loosened some of the u-nails and secured the water line in a couple of places and now I don't hear any banging sounds. Since he determined it wasn't a water hammer issue and there wasn't a need to install the device, he said there would be no charge as it was a quick fix. Definitely an honest, stand-up contractor which isn't easy to find these days. I certainly recommend giving Ben a call!
