Inspector was on time, knowledgeable, friendly and able to answer all my questions and give good advice on what I could do to address the issue. I learned a lot and now have confidence on what I need to do to finally resolve the problem. Would highly recommend.

We moved into an old house (1890s) with probable lead paint, asbestos, vermiculite (possibly containing asbestos) and a leaky basement with black mold. The inspector Gabriel was extremely knowledgeable and reassuring and helped us make a plan to mitigate the hazards, including what we could do ourselves with proper PPE, and for which jobs he would recommend professional remediation. He sent one sample for asbestos testing. We implemented some of his recommendations immediately and have plans for future improvements. We feel safer in our home now. Thanks Gabriel! My expectations of my appointment were completely exceeded by Gabriel. He is incredibly professional, very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to point out anything and everything that could help me improve the air quality of my home. From K in Constance Bay: We hired IAQ Ottawa to consult on a proposed summer home renovation and demolition project we undertook at the family cottage. Our initial proposal involved demolition and reconstruction of a home on a flood plain dealing with the conservation authority, surveyors, and local authorities. Shawn helped us design a plan, renovate our summer home, add a small addition, complete HVAC, restore our well, and totally winterize our now four season dwelling. Shawn met with the trades weekly, updated costs, provided and amended spreadsheets, and ensured building code compliance. We moved in on time and have had Shawn deal directly with the trades regarding issues with work warranties. Our main priority was addressing health and safety concerns related to the insurance contractor, which is why we sought the assistance of IAQ Ottawa. We strongly recommend Shawn and his team at IAQ Ottawa. Based on a past indoor air quality issue Shawn helped us resolve in a prior home, we hired him again to help us navigate a major issue at our new home. After experiencing water issues in our unfinished basement In February 2022, we asked Shawn to help us determine the source of the water. He thoroughly investigated, brought in a structural engineer, sampled our air and determined there was a mold issue and structural deficiencies with our home. Using his thorough report, we submitted a claim through Tarion Home Warranty. It was so thorough that Tarion opted to not send out their own people to investigate and required the builder to pay for all remediation and rebuild. Shawn is a leading expert in his field and we are extremely grateful to him and his team for taking quick action on our behalf. Even more, we are grateful for his patience and his in depth explanations- he took the time to explain each step of his investigation, and educate us on how basements should be constructed to avoid potential mold/moisture problems. Shawn came by yesterday to test our air quality, as we had been noticing irritation when breathing in our daughter's room. He tested a baseline for our air quality, then tested our daughter's room. It showed a significant increase in small particulates. He investigated in our basement, did a walk-around the exterior of our house, tested the air close to the attic hatch in our daughter's room, and asked us a lot of questions to help determine the root cause. He was very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and helpful. He gave us several recommendations for remedial actions. Overall a very great experience!

I was unsure if my air quality was impacting my families health and wanted our house to get tested for mold, allergens, etc. We had a dead rat in the ceiling where an air return duct was sucking air from as well as a skunk that sprayed into our basement window near another air return vent. Instead we had Gabriel come in for an inspection to determine if it's necessary. He was able to determine where mold could start growing over time, gave me options to cycle my air better, offered suggestions for cleaner air and was very helpful by showing me how well insulated my walls and attic are. He checked everywhere for not only possible air contaminates, but also issues to look out for with my home as a whole. It was a pleasure to have Gabriel come to my home.
