    Leaky valve repair

Had a leaky water valve under my sink and a dripping connector pipe to the dishwasher. Called ProStar and they were able to come promptly. They looked at what was required and tried to upsell their services with 7 options. The first option for 400$ did not even include fixing the pipe leak. The cheapest option that actually would fix it included replacing all 3 older valves for 1300$. Should have sent them away and found anyone else to do the job. Ended up saying yes and they did the repair. They scratched up my brand new vinyl floor with their tools and did not turn the hot water tank back on when they left. Better off to find a local plumber that you can trust. I left a review to their contact information and they responded to see what they could do to resolve the issues, but after I responded again I have not heard back from them.

    Poor service…overpriced, unethical

Charged for a toilet fix..which did not work. Returned & decided a new toilet was in order, tired hard to upsell BigTime! Finally installed a new toilet & was told final cost but charged 400 more when the charge went thru on visa, after many phone calls to rectify amount they refused to correct the error.

Honest repair after all of the options were reviewed

We had an urgent call out to repair a leak in our plumbing that seaked through a closet ceiling and ruined it. Shawn came out, assessed the problem, investigated other potentially related concerns, and gave us quotes for all of the options for repair. Shawn's customer service was excellent, the job was completed in quick order, I ended up paying what I thought I would have to pay and we are happy with the results. I would choose Prostar again.

    Do not use this company!,

They charged my 85 yr old mother $2,000 to unplug her kitchen sink. I have spoken to many plumbers and they said that it should have cost $500 at most.

Do Not Hire - Feb 2024

All the negative reviews are spot on. Hired them for an easy wax seal replacement and auger one pipe. 2-Hours labor and 20$ material. However 5 cost estimates are provided and they say they range from low end to high end Cadillac versions. Well the Cadillac version was replace the two toilets because the 5$ rubber stopper may be not working. I had already told him I replace two years earlier before the quotes were even presented. The cost of the Cadillac version was 5500$. Absolutely ridiculous. The tech that came to fix was great and even said good thing I was with my mom when the service call was conducted. If that or any say it all I dont know what does. They attempt to misdirect people into a high priced fix when its not necessary. If you value honest and professional service, do not hire this company.

    Bathroom tap exchange

Originally called Crowfoot Plumbing and set up an appointment 4 days later for a leaking faucet in my bathroom. I had mentioned that I was off Fridays to person who answered the phone. About half an hour later she called back and asked if I would like someone to come out that day as it was Friday. I said fine but I had to leave to pick up grandchildren at 2 and she said they had a plumber that could be here by 12. I asked how long it would take to do the job and she said no more than 1- 1.5 hours as they carried a wide range of washers. The plumber came, turned off the water and told me I needed new taps. I didn't question it as they were older and I made the decision to change them. He brought out his ipad that showed 4 options, a Bandaid fix, and three other ones about hot water tank and humidifier. At this point I said I wasn't interested in anything other than changing the taps. As he said there was some rusting around the attachment I said AGAIN that I only wanted the taps changed. I signed the work order and he put on the new taps. When it came time to pay, it said 768$ which included a seniors discount. I was shocked at the price but the work was completed and I assumed the invoice would give me a breakdown of the charges. I received the emailed invoice and all it said was installation of Moen taps $634.00. labor $75.00 and $100.00 service fee. I couldn't understand why a set of bathroom taps cost that much. When I called to talk to the billing department a male customer service rep told me I was being hysterical, and my blood pressure would start going up. I informed him that I worked in a medical clinic and he didn't have to worry about my BP. l called, hoping to get clarification as to why it cost $634.00 for taps and all he kept saying was that I had signed the work order. I KNOW I signed the work order but the person didn't say I was signing to have a $634.00 set of taps. I know that I signed the work order and it then became my responsibility to pay the bill, but all I wanted to know is why the taps were so expensive. Just clarification. I then told him I gave them 5 stars but after this, I was going to rescind it. He then said I better be careful what I said as they would sue me, then hung up. I am a senior citizen on a fixed budget that wanted to know what this amount of money was for. I was not calling to say I wouldn't honor the commitment. As a manager myself I would never speak to a client the way I was spoken to. Until I am told differently, I consider them to be Overpriced and lacking in customer service and skills.

    These guys are the BEST

Of course, when it is -45 my furnace conks out. I thought I was going to freeze to death until my Heros came over to change my furnace filter (OMG - what a dork I am!!). I am so sure that they are still laughing at me. Punctual and professional. They also helped my parents out today as their furnace completely crashed. They replaced my furnace a couple of years ago. I can't say enough good things about these guys! xxooLeanne

    plumbing work

Extremely overpriced charges. Very expensive. Do your research before hiring. There are other good plumbers out there who would do the same job for a reasonable price.

    Plumbing - Sewer Backup

DONT HIRE THIS COMPANY! Pro-Star assisted with a sewer backup and my experience dealing with them was nothing short of horrendous. The company augered the line and used a camera to determine the issue. I was told that there was a bit of a sag in the pipe and that was causing the problem. I was told the pipe would also need a power flush and when I asked the Tech Darcy for the cost, he told me it would be approx. $700.00. I asked him if that was a decent price and his response was, well some guys are charging $1,500 for a flush. The cost for the auger, camera, 1 year membership, dispatch fee and flush came to $1584.72. The membership provided me with a 10% discount and offered some additional benefits. I paid in full and booked the flush thinking that was a fair price only to find out later that day another company, who is very reputable, would have charged me $295.00 for the flush. I also found out that had I called them to begin with, their emergency after hours charge for the sewer backup would have been half the price of Pro-Star. I wasnt happy to find that out however had agreed to the price and the service provided by Pro-Star. I called the next day and explained the situation to Brian. I asked if they would match the price for the flush. He said they would not match it as they have better and more expensive equipment than the other company. He then went on to say some very negative things about the company I decided to hire for the flush. He agreed to cancel the appointment and refunded my credit card. I had to call two additional times to get my refund and it took much longer than what it should have. The other company came a week after Pro-Star was here. They showed me on the camera that there was already water and debris backing up in the line. So, Pro-Star never augered the line far enough. This definitely shouldnt have been happening so soon. The sewer backup also wasnt due to a minor sag in the pipe, there is a bit of angle that was causing the problem. I decided to cancel the 1 year membership and Brian said that he would do it however they would charge me back the 10% discount that was originally applied for the service. When I asked if they would waive that considering the negative experience I had he refused. Said they needed to charge that in order to make a profit. I told him that if they werent willing to do something for me I would share my experience an put a google review online. Brian then started yelling, told me if I gave them a bad review he would have his lawyer contact me with a cease and desist order and sue me for slander. He said the conversation was being recorded. I have every right to let others know of my experience. He then went on to say that I was acting like a child and that he would find out where I worked and give me a bad google review. Seriously, what kind of a business owners treats people like this. I have never experienced unprofessionalism to this magnitude and to threaten me is beyond unacceptable. I had someone in the house at the time who overheard the entire conversation because I had Brian on speakerphone. I posted the google review and he responded to it with false accusations. He said he has me recorded threatening his staff and being very hostile, which is not the case. I responded to his accusations stating they were not true, that I called the police and was reporting him to the BBB. After that the review was removed, however I have snapshots of everything he posted. I will be posting another google review and will contact google to ensure my review is not removed.

    Prostar Plumbing Calgary - TERRIBLE

They tried to convince me I needed a $1500 circuit board fix, and also a thermostat...for $300. I wanted to look around and price check for such a big fix and I came to learn, thanks to Baker & Sons plumbing in Calgary that this didnt sound right. They suggested a new thermostat ($50 at canadian tire) and IT WORKED, Pro Star literally tried to charge me $1500, if they had any morals whatsoever, they would have been HONEST and i would have saved the waste of a day I just had. I cannot describe how greasy their move was. I hope this gets out, tough times for everyone, ProStar could care less about their customers.
