***DO NOT HIRE MITCHELL & CO CONSTRUCTION SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY IF YOU WANT A GOOD JOB DONE*** On November 23rd, 2020, our elderly parents decided to hire Mitchell to tile the entire main floor of their newly purchased bungalow. He didn’t have a business card when requested, stating that he “doesn’t make them anymore because people just throw them out”. That should have been a red flag but we overlooked it. He stated he could complete the work in 6 days, when really it took weeks (many times where we had to continuously follow-up as he could not be contacted). It is understandable for some delays to occur, but we provided materials as requested in a timely manner as requested. Only the first two days did his employees show up on time and worked a full day, all the days that followed they only showed up at 2pm-3pm and only worked till 5. The cement on the floor was not evenly distributed causing some of the tiles to be significantly raised in certain areas, the grout had to be redone SEVERAL times and to this day are still flaking and crumbling out of the tile space. Mitch even tried to pass blame to the supplier for not providing us the proper type of grout despite US PURCHASING THE GROUT MITCH HAD ASKED FOR?? We had to spend an extra $1500 in materials due to his and his employees’ careless handling. Lots of excuses were made to justify the poor work his company completed. They covered a vent by the front door and stated that they ‘did not notice it’. When concerns were raised via text and we requested him to come and discuss the issues, he ignored them. The only days he showed up promptly were to collect his payments. There are still so many tiles that are still moving (you can hear it and feel it), cement on our walls and baseboards, a freshly painted wall was scratched up, huge areas where there is no grout between the tiles, there were EXACTO BLADES carelessly left behind (some hidden under our baseboards), the baseboards were not properly installed so there are big gaps between it and the walls, they did not cut the tile properly for the bathroom so there is a huge gap between the tile and the vanity where they just covered it up with calking. He refuses to compensate us for the money lost from the damages his company was responsible for and for the TERRIBLE work another contractor had to fix. HE HAS TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION WITH HIS CLIENTS AS WELL, wont show up to his scheduled meet ups or even take calls or texts.

I hired Mitch and his crew to do some landscaping work for me. His crew had no idea of the job when they arrived. I was supposed to get stamped concrete but the concrete was smeared on without stamping. Mitch said that it looked good but I asked them to actually stamp the concrete as promised. The concrete has since started to crack and just doesn't look all that profession. I also had Mitch install 4 Cedars which he charged me $200 each for including installation. He said he would guarantee them, but one of them died and I asked him for over 6 weeks to replace it which he did not do. He just started to ignore me as the other customers have commented. Don't give this guy the money. He's in over his head and is running a bigger operation than he can handle. He probably would be fine if he stuck to one crew and concentrated on one job at a time, but we all know these guys like to keep the money flowing which for Mitch, has kept his standards low.

I hired Mitch to do a deck repair and stain. The deck repair was very sloppy - bench boards were not routered to match the other benches and pieces not put in place properly. They could not completely remove the old stain, so they recomended "deck-over." The product did not even last 9 months. They must have put it on in direct sunlight and heat. I contacted Mitch about this, he said he would fix his mistake. It's been 6 weeks and he's no longer responding to emails. DO NOT USE THEM, they will cut corners and don't take responsibility for their work.

I hired Mitchell to replace squeaky hardwood floors and paid half up front (BIG mistake). He was repeatedly late starting (about 3 weeks) - always had a weak excuse for delays. Old flooring was removed, new subfloor installed (but only screwed down instead of 'glue and screw' as promised) and now subfloor has new squeaks. Fireplace glass was shattered, but still not replaced. COVID stopped work, but now tried to restart (after Stage 2 relaxed rules) but now he refuses to reply to my repeated emails and phone calls. After two weeks of no response, I am tired of waiting and walking on subfloors, so I am writing to warn prospective customers..

This is the third job I’ve hired Mitch for. The first one last summer went quite well so I hired him for a winter project inside. Mistakes and errors caused several delays then COVID hit and we’ve been on hold since. This latest job was supposed to be done within a couple of days and has taken a month so far. I like to give the benefit of the doubt and treat everyone fairly and with respect. However, when someone doesn’t answer messages or communicate changes and issues, I start to wonder. Mitch has just contacted me, after a week of ignoring me, to say that the pad will be done tomorrow , June 9th. We’ll see how this goes. I understand delays are unavoidable but I do not understand not communicating with clients on a regular basis about schedule and issues. ======= update ======= Pad was poured as Mitch promised so I’m adjusting my ratings a bit. These are challenging times we are in and sometimes it is very challenging to meet commitments. I would increase this rating much higher if communication was better.

Replaced 9 posts and reused fence where possible. Mitchell’s crew were great. Hard working and completed quickly. Had a few problems but were very open to resolve. Mitchell was great to work with me and my neighbor. They were good with the cleanup and took care not to damage anything during bring in heavy equipment into the yard. Would recommend on price and quality of work.

Just wanted to take a moment to recommend Mitchell and his team. I found Mitchell to be very diligent and his team to very professional and helpful. I hired them to fix a hole in the siding of my roof, to repair a section of the gutter above our porch, and to clean an area on the siding of our home. Mitchell's guys were on time and finished the work quickly. They were respectful and easy to work with. I would definitely work with them again for projects around my home. Thank guys for the good work!

Mitch came out quickly when I needed repairs because my oven vent hood was disconnected from the connection in the attic. He did a great job and in fact pointed out another problem that I hadn't realized was there. He contacted me after the job to let me know I had overpaid him - the epitome of honesty! Highly recommend.
