Gavin did a fantastic job replacing drywall on our ceilings and doing plaster repairs throughout the top floor of our house. He even took the time to come back to the job site after we had completed painting to help set our light fixtures without damaging the drywall. He completed everything in the time promised and left everything clean. He was very responsive throughout the process and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend his services.

After removing stipple I had Meehan Plastering refinish and paint a large ceiling to a level 5 condition. Dealing with a time served craftsman who understands the scope, clearly explains the procedure and executes the work on-time to a very high standard is always gratifying and rewarding. I intend to re-hire Meehan for more similar work, therefore I obviously have no hesitation in recommending this company to others.

I hired Gavin to drywall my basement. He did an outstanding job installing the drywall, taping, mudding, sanding and applying a primer coat. The finished drywall is incredibly smooth. He completed the project on time and to the agreed cost and he gave great suggestions on ways to enhance the look of the basement by modifying the layout of the drywall in certain areas. If you are looking for a responsible, easy to work with and detailed drywaller, Gavin is your man. Hire him, you won't be disappointed.

As part of our kitchen renovation we removed a wall which meant we needed to remove a fairly large portion of the plaster ceiling. One side of the wall was smooth plaster and the other side was textured plaster so we wanted to skim coat everything to make it all flat. We hired Gavin after getting a few quotes and reading reviews. Gavin very much lived up to the positive reviews on Homestars. He was very polite, easy to work with and answered all my questions. His quote detailed the work he was doing and the cost of any additional items not covered by the quote (such as additional drywall patches needed after electrical work). The best part of the whole experience is that the work completed by Gavin was excellent, I can’t believe how smooth our ceilings look now. In addition to the drywall and plaster work on the ceilings he also had to install drywall on the kitchen walls and those also look great. We are very satisfied with the work and would recommend Gavin to anyone looking for drywall/plaster work.

Several years ago, we removed the popcorn ceiling that we had in our condo. We recently decided to hire a contractor to plaster a flat white ceiling over the exposed concrete. Gavin came over and quoted the work and knew exactly what would be needed for the space. We could not be happier with the results. He stuck to the timeline provided and completed immaculate work. Great plastering and sanding, prompt, professional, tidy, came prepared. Arrived when he promised, finished when he said he would. Perfect!! BUT... My review would end there if the work ended there. Unfortunately giving everything a coat of primer was part of the scope of work. The “nap” length of the roller used was 1 inch (25mm). This takes the smooth work of the plastering job and completely ruins it. Every smooth ceiling in my home was painted with a 10mm nap length roller. Every other ceiling in my home looks smooth. The ceiling in question will need to be re-sanded or re-plastered to achieve an acceptable result. The company owner was unwilling to bring the ceiling up to the requested standard. I won’t get into the details of that discussion but will say that I’m on my own to make this ceiling look as good as all the other, previously stippled ceilings in my home do. I’ll add that they were not done by a professional.

I had recently renovated my basement from the ground up and needed help with new drywall on the walls and ceiling, as well as mudding and taping. He was diligent with understanding what was needed and provided a fair quote for the work. His work was outstanding! Right from the go, he was up front on timelines to complete the work, and arrived on time each day. The guy is an absolute pro! I recently painted the basement and the results are great, all thanks to Gavin's amazing work. No seams / mud lines visible anywhere. Next drywall project I have I'm reaching out to him immediately. Don't look anywhere else; this guy is the best.

We needed to remove popcorn from two rooms in our home and began the search to find the right person for the job. After reviewing several companies on Homestars we settled on Gavin from Meehan’s Plastering and Drywall. Gavin came to our home and gave us a quote for a very reasonable price. When choosing a contractor like most people we look for a skilled tradesman, someone who will be reliable and whom we can trust. We found that a spades in Gavin. He arrived at the agreed upon time and got started on the job. During the project he kept us advised as to next steps and showed up each day at the agreed upon time. His work was first rate and he took immaculate care of our home during what we expected to be a very messy project. As we had recently had new flooring laid and had painted one of the rooms (cart before the horse but with Covid you do what you can as trades become available). Gavin went to great lengths to protect our floors and even “tented” the dining room to protect the walls. When finished he and his colleague Barry cleaned the entire area, even washing the windows in our French doors! Truly above and beyond. We cannot recommend Gavin highly enough. I quarantine when choosing Gavin you will get a hard working, trustworthy, skilled professional and you will be extremely happy with the work

I needed to replace the plaster in several rooms that had reached the end of its life and update to drywall - Gavin reached out to quote on this project through HomeStars' Request a Quote. First thing I noticed is that he got back to me...and always got back to me. I regularly kept him advised of when I would be ready for his services and never over those 2-3 months of Covid issues and delays did he ever not respond and kept reassuring me that he would do the work. Several other contractors never responded or ghosted once they saw the smaller size of the project. Gavin never did...and maintained contact. Quite happy with the quality of work. Gavin has several years experience in Ireland and moved to Toronto a few years ago, where he continues in the trade. He hired a helper, who also had several years in the business, to help keep the work on time. No issues whatsoever...and constantly amazes me how effortless they make it appear versus my attempts that would see me waste a weekend on a single room and coat of mud! We did have some issues with the crew that had to be used to hang the drywall. Even though I could have fixed it myself, Gavin insisted on being the one to rectify the issues with the work and went beyond what I was expecting to ensure I was happy. If I ever need drywalling completed, Gavin will be the first and only one I'll reach out to now.
