Review from HomeOwner Review left on 2 Dec 2012Rating: 1 out of 5I had two windows and new front entry system, and aluminum railing for a rear deck installed. This was all financed through TD bank for a year. The down payment should have been placed on the loan or refunded to me. Job was completed in Dec 2011 and loan started Sept 2012. I have not received any payment regardless of voice or e-mails. I have been paying my down payment again on the fourteenth of every month since September 2012. Details are as follows: Dealing with Ultima was an experience that I would like to put behind me. I have not yet received the refund of my down payment cheque that was owed to me once the job was completed. I had completed a finance contract with TD for the full amount of the job which included a new front door, two windows and an aluminum railing for the rear deck. I was informed by Jason Garcia that I would receive a refund of my down payment that I provided in August 2011 once the work was completed. Well the job was never completed until December 2011; the late installation from an August order should have been an indication to me. The job was completed in December 2011 and I was ensured by Jason that I would receive my refund of the down payment by cheque rather than on my credit card which the down payment was originally completed with. “That’s not the way they do it” was the response that I received from Jason. I also indicated that the loan amount should have been reduced by the down payment amount, but again Jason ensured me that I would receive my cheque. Well, that’s when the calls and e-mails started to Ultima. This can be validated from my cell statement and e-mails that I have been sent from December 2011 to September 2012. In August Jason finally did call me on my cell phone and stated that I would pay the amount of the loan less the down payment and he would look after the payment including interest; and we would be in constant communication from that point on. Like a fool I agreed. September 2012 was the month that the loan came due from TD. Lets’ say the communication was one-sided; I called his work and cell phone and have not received a response. Actually his cell from mail box will not receive any messages because it is always full. Jason or Grace his secretary at Ultima have not returned my phone calls or e-mails. I have been paying my down payment again on the fourteenth of every month since September 2012.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 21 Sep 2012Rating: 5 out of 5Replace 30 year old windows and doors (Brick to Brick) and garage door capping.
Got a few different quotes and Ultima wasn't the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but its the knowledge they have that got me. They installed a total of 16 windows, 1 entry door, and a sliding patio door (3 of which are Bay Windows). Our old windows were downright horrible and needed replacement. All the windows are vinylbilt cashmere colour, the door from Palma, and the sliding door sunview. Albert had originally quoted and gave us some great ideas on how we could replace our front 32" front door with a sidelight, with one large 38" door. The problem was that the opening was bigger than the size of a standard door. Other contractors wanted to put capping around the extra gap, not ultima, they actually got the door manufacturer (Palma) to customize it. I was home for the install and watched the crew install my windows. I could go on about how great a job ultima did on my house, and how many compliments I have had, but I am going to post pictures, and you can see for yourself. Bay windows were custom measured and came in one piece straight from the factory. All windows are brickmould as well (Trust me, brickmould looks 1000X better than capping). Big thanks to Jason, Albert and the whole crew. You guys did a great job, and I would recommend to anyone!Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Our experience with Ultima Home Improvements was VERY positive. The work completed by Ultima was a new front door, replaced rotting wooden columns with steel fluted columns, new railing and covered a small wooden section with vinyl siding. Everything was completed within a day. The workmanship was fantastic! They were extremely polite and cleaned up after themselves as they worked. They've even agreed to come back and do an extra litttle upgrade trim of our closet door to match the new interior trim of the new external door. They were quick to respond to our request for a quote and were extremely fast in providing samples and doing a final measure for the products required. Everything looks fantastic! When we're ready to do further updates to our home, Ultima is top on our list of companies. Thanks to Jason and his team for a job well done! B & KAnswer from pro:
It was a pleasure. We try our hardest to always communicate and involve our customers as we do believe we should treat customer's homes better than our own. It's your home, so it has to be done right!! We really appreciate the review and look forward to finishing up that closet trim. Thanks again for letting us into your home and hiring us to do your project. On behalf of the Ultima Home Improvements Team.

Swen did a great job helping me understand windows, window technology, what is best in which situations - making me consider things that I was oblivious to and making it easy to match my needs to products Ultima Home Improvements offered. They provide quality products and service at competitive price points - I can't complain!Answer from pro:
Thanks Mark! We do strive to help inform customer's and give them the direction that will be best suited to fit their needs. Now a days it's important that you get as much for your dollar as possible. Quality over quantity. Let us know if we can help out with anything else. Thanks again for the review! Jason and his team were excellent! We needed a full bathroom renovation, flooring in three rooms and complete prep and paint in the main level and upstairs of my house. The guys at ultima where clean, they prepped the job so that the area's they weren't working in didn't get all dusty and contaiminated and did a fantastic job. I am very satisfied, and would definetly reccomend them. They went above and beyond what I wanted by fixing a few banged up corners, (free) as well making me feel like they would do the same level of superior work at their home. My new bathroom is fantastic! and everything I could hope for and more. They did a massive amount of general work that was needed to make my house feel new and updated. They finished on time and on budget without any unpleasent surprises. Thanks UltimaAnswer from pro:

I am writing you to tell you how thrilled I am with your services and the products you installed in my home. It's only been about three weeks now since installed, neighbours and strangers have knocked on my door on many occasions to ask me the brand name of the products (Roloplast) and of course who installed them and I give them your information. I have only one minor problem with a screen and Andrew had sent someone out to fix the problem immediately! in fact, someone had stopped by while I was at work to fix it and it was a pleasant surprise to find the note stuck on my door from Brian that he stopped in to fix my screen. Your service is fantastic and the products speak very loud volumes. They look so much better than what was there before!! thanks again and I wish you and your staff all the best! Sincerely, Lisa Rose Barrie, ONAnswer from pro:
Thank you Lisa, I have already received calls thanks to your referrals. You are the best! If you ever need anything, we will always be here for you anytime you call. Again, thanks!! - Jason Garcia

We got 2 quotes: one from [competitor name removed--Ed], the other via Home Depot . Ultima appears to be part of a group of installers whom H-Depot seem to outsource to. Procedure appears to be: You go to Home Depot and they (not you) select the installation firm available. Although the Brock quote was higher , I felt that [competitor name removed--Ed] a specialist (because e they focus only on doors and windows) would know more than a generalist would. Although the [competitor name removed--Ed]quote was a over a thousand five hundred $ more , I was thinking it might be worth it and give the family peace of mind. At about the time my wife saw what H-Depot had, H-Depot started promotions. Home Depot first offered 15% off , and later announced a 20% off promo. On $30,000 that 20% became much more significant, so we went w/ HDepot / Ultima Home Improvement . Things worked out reasonably well. The new windows and doors were installed Feb 2010 . Ultima's team worked well together. Mr [last name removed--Ed] in Sales was EXCELLENT . An honest, straightforward person who educated me on the subj.Ultima's team was perhaps over-burdened in 2009-10. Gov incentives stimulated demand and the volume of work Ultima resulted in the initial installation being overly fast. Initially, quality concerns came up. However, when Ultima was called, they promptly came back and fixed main concerns. (One item remains outstanding, but it is up to me to call them. My wife or I need to be available to review that one item . (Said outstanding item is doesn't bother us at this time. I would recommend Mr [last name removed--Ed]and the company Ultima to friends and colleagues. ( have go thru Home Depot ). So I'd alert friends to wait for MEANINGFUL sales and wait if possible. Ultima's crew --the actual workers-- are fine people , and are good to work with. JV , Admin , on behalf of Adam [last name removed--Ed] dictatedAnswer from pro:

I was shopping around and had 3 estimates. Ultima Home Improvements was in the middle in terms of price. Not Cheapest, Not the most expensive. The only thing that was stopping me was the financing, I hadnt thought about the method of payment. Not that I cannot afford it because I can, but not too many people just have $25,000 just sitting in the bank account. Turns out, they offer to convert the job into a Home Depot Install.. they are the Home Depot contractor. Which was great, 12 months no interest to pay for it. The end result was a beautiful job, all vinyl brickmould finishing and beautiful Dorplex doors. Dealing with large companies like this is a breath of fresh air.Answer from pro:
Mr Saddiqui, thank you very much for taking the time in not only writing your great review, but also your research in finding our Homestars listing in the first place. This is so encouraging. In recent events another one of your neighbours had pointed out your home to our sales representative saying: " I want my home to look exactly like that one (yours)." So the sales rep took some pictures and brought them into the office. As it turns out when we looked at the pictures, it was YOUR HOME in the pictures! What a nice coincidence! We we're thrilled to let them know that this job was ours (as you gave us permission to do so - thank you) and your neighbour made a statement that we could not have made better ourselves: "The fine workmanship certainly is not coincidental". Thank you Mr Saddiqui, and if there ever is anything that you need, please do not hesitate in contacting us. -Andrew Spurvey
