    New Construction

Select had a great selection of materials to choose from, kitchen, bar and 6 vanities were done and installed to perfection in under 2 weeks. Worked out so well we used them for 2 other projects and our clients were very impressed with the selection process as well. Great work, I highly recommend this company.

    Kitchen Granite Countertop

Further to my review of May 28, 2012, SGT contacted me after my post and suggested 2 options to fix the gap under the counter: add a build-up for a fee or get a quote from their cabinetry contact to cover the gap with a wood strip. We opted for the build-up and it was installed approx. a month later. The installers took great care in making sure it fit properly and, as seen in the additional photos, the end result looks much better. A slight crack had also started to appear between the seam of the 2 granite slabs that did not originally line up completely flush. When the installers came back to add the build-up they were able to fill it with more sealant which helped but it definitely is not as tight as the other seam on the left side of our sink. Hopefully the crack will not open up again. May 28, 2012 We looked around at a few companies but settled on Select Granite Tops due to their outstanding reviews. The sales service was good, the scheduling was on time and we do like the piece of granite we chose. However, the reason we aren't satisfied with our countertop is due to the new set of issues that arose post-installation. Select Granite Tops mainly provides 3 cm stones and promotes it due to the fact that it is a stronger than the typical 2 cm stone and also because no seam is required to create the thicker lip a 2 cm stone needs to hide the plywood support below. What we didn't realize is that the lip is quite important to hide other things besides plywood. We went with the 3 cm stone which sits right on top of our counters and now have a very visible 1 in. gap between the top of our cupboards and our granite countertop. To make it worse, the gap is white melamine and therefore an eyesore. We now have to look into ways to hide this gap. This might have been something we should have realized when they took off our countertop for templating but because the kitchen looked so foreign to us w/out the counterop on it, we didn't clue in that if the granite simply sat on top of our existing counter there would be no lip to hide this white gap. If the templating staff had pointed this out to me, at that time we could have still considered paying more for a lip. Unfortunately we didn't see it until the installers came and the countertop was in. The other issue we need to remedy post-installation is that when the installers came to put our granite on, they realized that our breakfast bar area was lower than our sink area which meant that the 2 slabs of granite did not meet up at the seam. They had to put bits of wood below the breakfast bar granite to lift it up so it would be flush with the sink area granite and now we have another 1 in. gap below the breakfast bar where we can actually see into the top of our dishwasher. I asked the installers if they had ever come across other kitchens where the granite slabs didn't line up and they said they had which makes me think that the templating staff should probably also do a vertical measurement in addition to the countertop surface measurements. This way, the installers would not have had to come up with a quick fix on the spot and we could have tried to find a better solution than the one they had which left us with a see-through gap. All in all, it's not that we were not pleased with the countertop itself but more so that we felt Select Granite Tops could have helped us avoid these issues. This is the first time we have changed our countertops and had we been more experienced, maybe we could have forseen these issues but we were mainly relying on the experience of SGT. So although we have our new granite countertop, we also have a glaring gap running all the way around our kitchen which really mars the whole thing for us. Definitely not what we were expecting. In hindsight we realize that we probably should have gone with the standard 2 cm stone with the built-up lip because it would have mirrored our old countertop best.

    Quartz Countertop

We bought a new house and wanted to do Quartz countertops in the kitchen. We researched a few companies and based on price and the good home star reviews we chose select granite. We had a date scheduled for installation, we took the day off from work and no one showed up. We even called that morning to confirm and no one told us the date was changed. Finally, when no one showed up We called them again and were told the date changed to the following day, they forgot to call us to let us know. Fine, these things happen. The next day 2 very nice guys came and installed the countertops. That night we noticed the cooktop cut out was not cut properly, it was not centered to the bottom drawer and off by 5mm. When the guy who came was measuring that part, he got a phone call and was on the phone, so made an error. Select granite told me that they are off by not a lot and it's within variance so they won't change it. They offered to send someone to chisel part of countertop but then the cooktop would not fit right. We paid $4600 and for that money it should be measured bang on. Why the variance? We are not fighting with them because we don't have any more energy with all the new house issues but we will not use this company again for future projects or recommend them. They do a lot of work for builders and are just too big. The only reason I give a 2 is because the people who came out were very nice. In response to below, our upper cabinets have been fixed and are not the issue. Not sure how you can blame the cabinets when you have not even seem them. I have attached a picture showing the lower mis-alignment. The cooktop cutout variance is 2mm, so making the hole bigger than that would hinder the installation of the appliance and 2mm would still not make up for the full 5mm mis-alignment from the lower cabinet.

Quartz Counter with Blanco under mount sink

I have shopped around many places and was pleasantly surprised when SGC’s pricing was competitive with my other quotes. Seeing that they were top rated on Homestars I was expecting the cost to be much higher and was initially inquiring with them to re-assure myself I was getting a good price with another company. The initial planning process was very smooth and re-assuring when I dealt with Gus and Alexandra. There were both very informative, always available to answer any questions that I had, and a pleasure to deal with. The measure also went well. There was however a backlog of work during the date of the install causing complications to the scheduling of the work with risk of having the work to be completed the following day. After expressing my disappointment, SGC managed to still come in later that day to install the counters. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, SGC most importantly addressed my concerns and ensured I was satisfied. When choosing a company such as SGC, there are a few things to note. SGC is simply a counter company. You’ll save money, have more stone options going directly them, and even get to see the slabs of stone in the warehouse! As such you will need to arrange for your own plumbing (Sink will be installed but faucet and new drain lines need to be taken care of 24hrs after under mount sinks adhere. They will gladly recommend a plumber), also take care of any cabinet modifications in rare cases that they are required (for my case my cabinet ends were raised above the rest of the cabinets and needed to be cut. Kirk the installer, kindly removed them for me to get them cut on my own). Although there is some additional co-ordination required, you’ll save compared to going to a companies or contractors that take care of it all such as the big store contractors. In the end, my counter is perfect and flawless. I would definitely recommend them to friends and consider going to them for future work!

    New Kitchen Countertops

Stop looking for countertop companies; This is THESE BEST company you will ever deal with!!! The price was phenomenal, 3 cm thick granite for the SAME price as everyone else’s glue & seam. The measuring and installation is flawless. Gustavo helped me pick the perfect colour, Nick spent a great deal of time measuring to get the perfect fit and watching the installers Victor and Kurt work was like watching perfectly choreographed ballet. These are the people you want in your house. I have NEVER been as completely satisfied with a company as I am with Select Granite.

    New Kitchen Countertops

The best decision we ever made when renovating our kitchen was contacting Select Granite Tops. Renato was professional and made the whole process, from beginning to end, very easy. Going through a reno can be very stressful but Select was a dream to work with. My husband is in the construction industry, so he knows the level of service to expect, Select far exceeded anything he has experienced. Their large selection and beautiful showroom will certainly amaze you. They have the BEST selection of Super White in town. We had to call them to buff out a scratch (inflicted by us) and they didn't even ask any questions- they came and fixed within days. Renato and Select Granite are the best in the business! Bathroom Reno

Thank you Patricia, Gail, Alberto and the team at Select Granite. Our quartz counter tops are perfect and the matching sill for the shower compliments the room nicely (in the master bath). I would have rated a 10 (no half ratings or I would have put 9 ½) excellent for one minor incident which was rectified to our full satisfaction. Customer service was excellent and they accommodated our time constraints accordingly. The counter tops look great and I would recommend them to anyone having renovations in mind. Too bad I didn’t know of them years ago when I was renovating my kitchen. Thanks again, job well done. Would have added pictures but this site isn't user friendly.

kitchen, baths and laundry room stone countertop install

Select Granite's team, from sales to install, were amazing. They have a big well stocked warehouse where you can view almost any slab. They are knowledgeable and aim to please. I found some top quality super white quartzite there, and I tested the quality to be harder and more stain resistant than others. From the sales and measuring team, of Renato, Frank and Patrick, down to the incredible installation team, it was seamless. (No pun intended.) Marco, Estefan and Peter made our 12 foot kitchen island certainly look seamless! There's a seam at the 9 foot mark, that you can barely see. How they handled the weight and delicate seaming is astounding to me. True professionals who took their time to do it right. The price and time line is right too. I had other much higher quotes for inferior product. This price includes a laundry room and a bathroom and a large kitchen too. They were even willing to do the install the day before Christmas! Who does that? Love this team. Very happy with the outcome. Go to these guys for countertops and stone. Thx. Kathy
